Blessed Quotes

"If you seek patience, you will find no better example than the cross. Great patience occurs in two ways: either when one patiently suffers much, or when one suffers things which one is able to avoid and yet does not avoid. Christ endured much on the cross, and did so patiently, because when he suffered he did not threaten; he was led like a sheep to the slaughter and he did not open his mouth." ~St. Thomas Aquinas

"Love Mary! She is lovable, faithful and constant. She will never let herself be outdone in love, but will ever remain supreme. If you are in danger, she will hasten to free you. If you are troubled, she will console you. If you are sick, she will bring you relief. If you are in need, she will help you. She does not look to see what kind of person you have been. She simply comes to a heart that wants to love her. She comes quickly and opens her merciful heart to you, embraces you and consoles and serves you. She will even be at hand to accompany you on the trip to eternity."~St Gabriel of the Sorrowful Mother

"There are many who say to the Lord, "I give myself wholly to Thee, without any reserve," but there are few who embrace the practice of this abandonment, which consists in receiving with a certain indifference every sort of event, as it happens in conformity with Divine Providence, as well afflictions as consolations, contempt and reproaches as honor and glory." ~St. Francis de Sales.

“Do you wish to study to your advantage? Let devotion accompany all your studies. Consult God more than your books. Ask Him to make you understand what you read. Never begin or end your study except by prayer. Science is a gift of God. Do not consider it merely the work of your own mind and effort.” ~St Vincent Ferrer

“Those whose hearts are pure are temples of the Holy Spirit.” ~St Lucy

“Whatever a man prefers to God, that he makes a god to himself.” ~St Cyprian

“Prayer reveals to souls the vanity of earthly goods and pleasures. It fills them with light, strength and consolation; and gives them a foretaste of the calm bliss of our heavenly home.” ~St Rose of Viterbo

“Let us not esteem worldly prosperity or adversity as things real or of any moment, but let us live elsewhere, and raise all our attention to Heaven; esteeming sin as the only true evil, and nothing truly good, but virtue which unites us to God.” ~St Gregory Nazianzen

“The Our Father contains all the duties we owe to God, the acts of all the virtues and the petitions for all our spiritual and corporal needs.” ~St. Louis de Montfort

“The proof of love is in the works. Where love exists, it works great things. But when it ceases to act, it ceases to exist.” ~Pope St. Gregory the Great

“Your love has gone before me; it has grown with me, and now it is an abyss whose depths I cannot fathom.” ~St. Therese of Lisieux

“Inside each of us dwells the Spirit of God, we didn’t put Him there; but He who did knew we’d need the guidance, the direction and the love –all that which comes from God Himself, directly to our Spirit, directly to our Heart, straight into our lives – Guiding us and leading us, back to Himself.” ~Jim (Rosary Man) Dacey Jr OFS

“Remember that the Christian life is one of action; not of speech and daydreams. Let there be few words and many deeds, and let them be done well.” ~St. Vincent Pallotti

“Lord, help me to live this day, quietly, easily. To lean upon Thy great strength, trustfully, restfully. To wait for the unfolding of Thy will, patiently, serenely. To meet others, peacefully, joyously. To face tomorrow, confidently, courageously.” ~St. Francis

“A pure soul is like a fine pearl. As long as it is hidden in the shell at the bottom of the sea, no one thinks of admiring it. But if you bring it into the sunshine, this pearl will shine and attract all eyes. Thus, the pure soul which is hidden from the eyes of the world, will one day shine before the angels in the sunshine of eternity.” ~St. John Vianney

“Do you know when people really become spiritual? It is when they become the slaves of God and are branded with His sign, which is the sign of the Cross, in token that they have given Him their freedom.” ~St. Teresa of Avila

Go To The Priests: “Just like Our Blessed Mother led those to Jesus, who wanted to help the couple at their wedding in Cana; let us also go to our Priests when we are seeking out those we wish to help. –God has placed His Priests –Our Priests where they are in our lives; so that they can help guide us and lead us -to better serve Almighty God in our service to others. To you I say this, as you go to your Priests: Speak with them, go to them, trust in them, encourage them, love them, help them, pray for them; and most importantly be there for them as they help lead you to Jesus.” ~Jim (Rosary Man) Dacey Jr OFS

“God does not command us to live in hair shirts and chains, or to chastise our flesh with scourges, but to love Him above all things and our neighbor as ourselves.” ~St. Charles of Sezze

“Love to pray -feel often during the day the need for prayer, and take trouble to pray. Prayer enlarges the heart until it is capable of containing God's gift of Himself. Ask and seek, and your heart will grow big enough to receive Him and keep Him as your own.” ~Blessed Mother Teresa

“When nothing diverts my thoughts from God, my heart swims in an excess of overflowing joy, in so much that I often forget my food and all earthly things; but it is an affliction to live amid the distraction of worldly conversation.” ~St Paul Hermit

“The soul of one who serves God always swims in joy, always keeps holiday, is always in her palace of jubilation, ever singing with fresh ardor and fresh pleasure a new song of joy and love.” ~St John of the Cross

“O name of Mary! Joy in the heart, honey in the mouth, melody to the ear of Her devout clients!” ~St. Anthony of Padua

“Mary means enlightener, because She brought forth the Light of the world. In the Syriac tongue, Mary signifies Lady.” ~St. Isidore of Seville

“Let me say something concerning this name also, which is interpreted to mean Star of the sea, and admirably suits the Virgin Mother.” ~St. Bernard

“Mary means Star of the sea, for as mariners are guided to port by the ocean star, so Christians attain to glory through Mary's maternal intercession.” ~St. Thomas Aquinas

“God the Father gathered all the waters together and called them the seas or Maria [Latin, seas]. He gathered all His grace together and called it Mary or Maria. This immense treasury is none other than Mary whom the Saints call the 'treasury of the Lord.' From Her fullness all men are made rich;” ~St. Louis de Montfort

My Friends,
UPDATED LIST for Friday, March 14, 2014.
Every single Friday at Midnight (Eastern Standard Time) I will POST an updated blog, with new names of those joining us and the new mystery each of us will pray on that Friday… Thank you all for joining us. Let us begin this Rosary -as you would begin any Rosary -with The Apostles Creed… then Your Mystery...and end together with the Hail Holy Queen…
THE APOSTLE'S CREED
I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of Heaven and earth; and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, Our Lord, Who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified; died, and was buried. He descended into Hell; the third day He arose again from the dead; He ascended into Heaven, seated at the right hand of God, the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

HAIL HOLY QUEEN
Hail, holy Queen, Mother of mercy, our life, our sweetness and our hope. To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve: to thee do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this valley of tears. Turn then, most gracious Advocate, thine eyes of mercy toward us, and after this our exile, show unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus. O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary!
Leader: Pray for us O Holy Mother of God,
All: That we may be worthy of the promises of Christ. -AMEN
(Optional)
Leader: Let us pray.
All: O God whose only begotten Son by his life, death, and Resurrection has purchased for us the rewards of eternal life; grant we beseech thee, that meditating on these mysteries of the Most Holy Rosary of the Blessed Virgin Mary, we may imitate what they contain and obtain what they promise through the same Christ our Lord. Amen.
THANK YOU EVERYONE!!!

Benefits of Praying The Rosary
(Given to St. Dominic and Blessed Alan de la Roche)
1. Whoever shall faithfully serve me by the recitation of the Rosary, shall receive powerful graces.
2. I promise my special protection and the greatest graces to all those who shall recite the Rosary.
3. The Rosary shall be a powerful armor against hell, it will destroy vice, decrease sin, and defeat heresies
4. It will cause virtue and good works to flourish; it will obtain for souls the abundant mercy of God; it will withdraw the hearts of people from the love of the world and its vanities, and will lift them to the desire of eternal things. Oh, that souls would sanctify themselves by this means.
5. The soul which recommends itself to me by the recitation of the Rosary, shall not perish.
6. Whoever shall recite the Rosary devoutly, applying himself to the consideration of its Sacred Mysteries shall never be conquered by misfortune. God will not chastise him in His justice, he shall not perish by an unprovoked death; if he be just, he shall remain in the grace of God, and become worthy of eternal life.
7. Whoever shall have a true devotion for the Rosary shall not die without the Sacraments of the Church.
8. Those who are faithful to recite the Rosary shall have during their life and at their death the light of God and the plentitude of His graces; at the moment of death they shall participate in the merits of the Saints in Paradise.
9. I shall deliver from purgatory those who have been devoted to the Rosary.
10. The faithful children of the Rosary shall merit a high degree of glory in Heaven.
11. You shall obtain all you ask of me by the recitation of the Rosary.
12. All those who propagate the Holy Rosary shall be aided by me in their necessities.
13. I have obtained from my Divine Son that all the advocates of the Rosary shall have for intercessors the entire celestial court during their life and at the hour of death
14. All who recite the Rosary are my children, and brothers and sisters of my only Son, Jesus Christ.
15. Devotion of my Rosary is a great sign of predestination.

Blessing of the Rosary
1. Sinners are forgiven.
2. Souls that thirst are refreshed.
3. Those who are fettered have their bonds broken.
4. Those who weep find happiness
5. Those who are tempted find peace.
6. The poor find help.
7. Religious are reformed.
8. Those who are ignorant are instructed.
9. The living learn to overcome pride.
10. The dead (the Holy Souls) have their pains eased by suffrages.

Indulgences
from Enchiridion indulgentiarum Recitation of the Marian Rosary (Rosarii marialis recitatio)
An indulgence is the remission before God of the temporal punishment due to sins whose guilt has already been forgiven, a remission, which one of the faithful, properly disposed and under certain definite conditions, can acquire through the Church, which authoritatively dispenses, applying the treasure of the satisfactions of Christ and the Saints.
An indulgence is either PLENARY or PARTIAL, depending upon whether it frees one from the whole or from a part of the temporal punishment due to sin.
This means that one of the faithful who, with at least a contrite heart, performs a work enriched with a partial indulgence, is granted by the power of the Church that same amount of remission of temporal punishment as he has already obtained by the work itself. In other words, the remission is doubled, and that as often as the work prescribed is performed.  A plenary indulgence means a full remission of temporal punishment, provided that several other conditions apply, in addition  to the work performed or prayer said.
A plenary indulgence is granted, if the Rosary is recited in a church or public oratory or in a family group, a religious Community or pious Association; a partial indulgence is granted in other circumstances.
  • "Now the Rosary is a certain formula of prayer, which is made up of fifteen decades of "Hail Marys" with an "Our Father" before each decade, and in which the recitation of each decade is accompanied by pious meditation on a particular mystery of our Redemption."(Roman Breviary) The name "Rosary," however, is commonly used in reference to only a third part of the fifteen decades.
The gaining of the plenary indulgence is regulated by the following norms:
  • 1) The recitation of a third part only of the Rosary suffices; but the five decades must be recited continuously.
  • 2) The vocal recitation must be accompanied by pious meditation on the mysteries.
  • 3) In public recitation the mysteries must be announced in the manner customary in the place; for private recitation, however, it suffices if the vocal recitation is accompanied by meditation on the mysteries.

Then The Devil Left Him..

BEADS OF JOY 03-09-14
“Then The Devil Left Him…”
©2014 James Dacey, Jr. OFS
1st Sunday of Lent

Today's Gospel: Matthew 4:1-11
(Temptation of Jesus in the Wilderness)
"Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. And he fasted forty days and forty nights, and afterward he was hungry. And the tempter came and said to him, "If you are the Son of God, command these stones to become loaves of bread." But he answered, "It is written, `Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.'" Then the devil took him to the holy city, and set him on the pinnacle of the temple, and said to him, "If you are the Son of God, throw yourself down; for it is written, `He will give his angels charge of you,' and `On their hands they will bear you up, lest you strike your foot against a stone.'" Jesus said to him, "Again it is written, `You shall not tempt the Lord your God.'" Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain, and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and the glory of them; and he said to him, "All these I will give you, if you will fall down and worship me." Then Jesus said to him, "Begone, Satan! for it is written, `You shall worship the Lord your God and him only shall you serve.'" Then the devil left him, and behold, angels came and ministered to him."
My Friends,
Temptation is one thing we will all face throughout our lives. Jesus also had to deal with it, and I bet that His temptation was far more difficult; considering the devil himself was there in person trying to mislead Him. In my research, I read that temptation is actually a very healthy part of our spiritual life. Yes, you did read that correctly, but then I think it’s obvious why that would be said. See if you are in a healthy spiritual relationship with Jesus, you will recognize what temptation is (a lie); and in that you will even more so -cling to Jesus, and draw yourself to Him as you are tempted. So in that, recognizing temptation, only deepens your spiritual life; not recognizing it, or not paying any mind to it, can easily lead you away from Jesus. The best advice I have always known in dealing with temptation is this: Once you see and know that these feelings; that thing you see in your eye, the location you are in, whatever; will be sending you down a path of sin and hell.. RUN, FLEE and get away as far and as fast as you can.

Temptation isn't something we should even consider fighting, or think we can easily over power. Is it possible to overpower it, and defeat it? Absolutely. But know that the devil sees your strength, but at the same time he is studying all your weaknesses; he has nonstop patience to hit you at the right moment when you are weakest and unprepared. Eventually if you keep fighting him, he will win. We must keep in mind, temptation is subtle, one inch, and one step at a time. In the end temptation brings out of us, what is in us, and our virtues are tested. Do you see how this is such a challenge? Satan is battling us from our heart, how much do you really want to go to Heaven? How much do you really love Jesus? We must do whatever we can to at least be able to recognize temptation; when it is not hidden within that chocolate cake, or that bottle of wine, or in the smile of that person you feel attracted to. Temptation will not approach us in any ugly way, it will be covered up in something we like or love. Sort of a camouflage.

Let's take a simple look at the evolution of temptation: First it's a simple thought, maybe of something you like, or someone you like, or something you like to do. What hits you next is only natural. Second your imagination takes it and runs off with it, delighting your thoughts with the pleasures of that first simple thought. Now you are allowing satan to enter into your mind, not as an evil spirit taking you away from God, but rather a pleasant thought of something you like. Thirdly this is followed by deep delight in these thoughts with a little bit of evil inclination. Finally you find yourself agreeing that it is ok to pursue these thoughts. And now that you have gone this far, little by little satan will continue to invade your heart and mind, justifying and convincing you that it's ok, you're not hurting anybody. So what do we do? I say, what did Jesus do? Two things that were obvious, knowledge of scripture, and His close relationship to God, the Father Almighty. Our eyes really need to remain on Jesus at all times, that alone helps us avoid so much temptation we can't see and won't pursue, why; because we are too preoccupied adoring Jesus.
Questions To Ponder Today:
-Where do we get our strength in times of temptation?
-Do we ever feel trapped or lured into a sin by satan?
-Would you be able to find peace and solitude in defeating temptation?
-Did you ever retreat some place for a period of time to pray, shielding yourself from temptation?
-How do you personally deal with your own temptations?
(Learn your own weaknesses, and build your walls in advance.)

Indulgences
from Enchiridion indulgentiarum Recitation of the Marian Rosary (Rosarii marialis recitatio)
