Preparing For The New Year - Part 2
©2009 James Dacey, Jr. SFO
Hello Everyone,
Happy New Years Eve Day everybody. I really didn't think I'd be writing so much about resolutions, but from a couple of the emails and replies about them I thought I'd write just a little bit more about them to maybe help inspire everyone to look another way at "Resolutions". I pray that all of you have a most joyous 2010. As I write this I am looking back on one of my New Years Resolutions worksheets from 2004, it's 8 sheets long, I know wow. Reviewing this is most inspiring. Looking back now I can see how so many of these are such a part of my life now.
Let's see in this bunch of resolutions how I broke the list down and then how I began 2004 with such fervor and excitement. This list starts with a six sentence intro, thanking Jesus for yet another year to further serve Him. My first topic is "Spiritual Resolutions" there are 19 points, followed by "Daddy Resolutions" with 6 points. Next there are "Husband Resolutions" with 11 points. There are just so many topics. Then I have "Friends Resolutions" with 4 points. Yes this is pretty intense, LOL. The balance of these topics are: "Personal Growth" (3 points), "Desires to Give" (2 points), "Health Resolutions" (6 points), "Community Resolutions" (3 points), "Praying The Rosary Across America Ministry Resolutions" (3 points), and then lastly "Dads 4 Jesus Resolutions" (2 points).
Now here are some direct examples that I did apply to my life back in 2004. Also note that resolutions aren't necessarily things we didn't do or haven't done, most of the time they are things we already do. But by labeling them as a resolution helps us intensify them in our lives, which is what helps us to solidify them to be part of who we are, long after the "date" we made them a resolution.
Spiritual Resolutions
#10. Desire for my Daily Cross- I wish to gain strength by my daily cross.
- Through this desire I pray for God's Grace.
- I am determined to embrace my cross everyday.
- I desire an even heavier cross as Jesus sees me grow.
(Footnote: most of my spiritual resolutions are like this one.)
Daddy Resolutions
#2. Continue to always be available when they need me: homework, to talk, whatever. They can have my attention whenever they so desire it.
(Footnote: I love being a dad.)
Community Resolutions
#2. Get more deeply involved at the shrine with Fr. Peter and Fr. Julio. Possibly helping at different events, or assisting in the rosary devotion and Mass more consistently.
(Footnote: The shrine is my most favorite place. I helped out there for years.)
That last one came to pass big time in my life. Fr Peter is not only a personal friend but while living in WNY he was my Spiritual Director. At the shrine I was a Eucharistic Minister whenever needed, helped out at Christmas setup on the grounds, my daughter and I were involved with bible study, and so much more. I consider Our Lady of Fatima Shrine a very special place in my life and in my heart. I hope these few starting ideas help inspire you to greater things as the new year gets ready to begin.
Resolutions to me: Should be specific things we want to do to be better people before the Lord, in our families and to our friends.

Preparing For The New Year
©2009 James Dacey, Jr. SFO
Hello Everyone,
Well the New Year is just days away. It's really wonderful how so many people use this time to make some resolutions in their lives. I suggest some serious spiritual resolutions. Also lets take this time to deepen our relationship with Jesus; get closer to our family and friends and what can we do for others, those we know and those we don't know. My usual breakdown of resolutions include: spiritual, family, others, and I also add hobbies (interests). But I have also been known for making an 8-10 page write up of resolutions covering every aspect of my life. So this resolution thing can get nuts.. LOL
How does one begin you ask? Some have asked me. It's really simple, on a clean sheet of lined paper on the top write: 2010 Resolutions, then start on the first line with Spiritual, go down a couple lines, then write Family, then go down a couple lines, then write Others. You can add any topic you so desire. You don't even have to make resolutions, this is just fun to do, to help you personally monitor your spiritual, family or whatever..growth. When I do make my huge lists of resolutions, usually by like the end of February my list has boiled down to the my main focus for the year, so see even those long lists of resolutions serve a purpose. Let me show you some examples of my own resolutions to help you get started. The cliff notes are for you, not me..
My "Writing" Resolutions for 2010
- Continue posting ALL my "Beads of Joy" writings on my new blog page. (This is a collection of almost everyday since 2008, many are posted on my my-space and need to be copy/pasted over and there are even more in my journals hand written)
- Start a new Blog Page like the Beads of Joy one. This one will be for all my other writings from my journal collection, including short stories of every kind (too many to count), poems (hundreds of them). Chronologically lay them out on this blog page. I must go through my 12 boxes of journal books and sift through them. Big Job here.
- On a poster board visually layout my (6) book projects that are in motion. I need a plan to one by one get them finished and published.
I think I am going to actually post my resolutions here on this blog, maybe Jan 1st or 2nd. It'll be my entire list, it'll be fun to share, it may even give you ideas for your spiritual life, family time, what to do for others, who knows, hopefully it will inspire you. Maybe this will give you time to look into your own life in a different way. You do realize you can start "resolutions" anytime. New Years is just the most popular time.
Start to prepare your own resolutions, it'll be fun, I promise you.

We Are Not Our Own
Beads of Joy 12-29-09
We Are Not Our Own
©2009 James Dacey, Jr. SFO
Hello Everyone,
The first thing we must recognize is that we are not our own. Our lives, our bodies, our everything, all belongs to God. When Jesus died on the cross He paid the ultimate price for us. No matter what we do, what choices we make; no matter what the world would have us to believe, we are God's children. God dwells in each and everyone of us, we are His temple through the power of the Holy Spirit. Our "free will" will and can change the last chapter of our lives, but with that said know that God does not abandon us even when we abandon Him.
Here's another way it can be explained. Father Larry Richards from Pittsburgh, PA once said this, I'm not sure if this is verbatim, but I think it's pretty close. The "sun" in this parable of sorts is referring to Jesus. "The sun shines, and the sun will always continue to shine. We can block the sun by putting something over our head, but no matter what we do or where we go, the sun will always continue to shine." God is here for all of us, all of the time; we can try to hide from Him, we can insult Him, and flat out deny He exists. But no matter what we do He will always love us, He will always forgive us. Just remember that even if we lose faith in Him, He does not stop loving us.
The questions to consider are: Do we really recognize that God himself through the power of the Holy Spirit dwells within us? And by knowing this; Do we know the joy that we can have by fully surrendering to God with the faith, hope and love He has instilled within us? There is no limit to how much joy we can receive from God. Did you know that? I can personally attest to the fact that once you surrender fully to Him, you will be so ecstatic, and so excited, and so filled with so much joy that you will feel like you are going to explode. LOL
One of my biggest objectives I have always had when starting this blog was to do all I can to share all this joy with you. Not only to just share it in written words, but to do whatever I can to help lead you to attain your own unlimited joy. Let's put it this way, if the joy that I have inside of my heart was a fuel (oil, gasoline, propane, whatever), the fuel supply inside of me would last for all eternity, and would never ever run out. I seriously believe that the joy is inside of me is being way under-estimated. I really believe that the joy alone inside my heart and soul for my Lord and our Lady is enough of a supply to last for an eternity of eternities. It is truly a most spectacular feeling.
Just do it ! Surrender your life fully to Him !

The Slaughter of The Innocent
Beads of Joy 12-28-09
The Slaughter of The Innocent
©2009 James Dacey, Jr. SFO
Hello Everyone,
I must admit I have such a hard time with this topic, it gets me so emotionally enraged. Today we are reading Matthew 2:13-18 (Flight to Egypt / The Massacre of the Infants). Today's gospel begins with Joseph having the angel of the Lord telling him to flee to Egypt, because Herod was looking for the child to kill Him. And then when Herod couldn't find him he had all the boys two years and younger in Bethlehem and the surrounding area killed. This story is reminiscent to when Pharaoh had all the Hebrew males killed, "Pharaoh then commanded all his subjects; "Throw into the river every boy that is born to the Hebrews, but you may let the girls live." Exodus 1:22
This is what always seems to happen when a government or a country abuses their use of its powers. Both of these mass killings of the innocent is a kind of genocide. In the past in history when a certain group of people or nationality of people where no longer wanted or desired by the existing power in charge; in certain situations they did all they can to try to terminate the unwanted. This type of genocide exists today, and sadly enough so many embrace it, and they are trying to force us to pay for it through our taxes; and even promote it through the government by embracing the killers corporation. All we can do is pray for the murderers, and all those countless millions of innocent babies who were killed.
When it comes to discussing this I have no compromise in my decision about this. No child of God, no life, no baby deserves death. The innocent who is (prior to its birth) safely growing in its mothers womb, basically gets executed. That is so sad. To me if anyone is promoting or agreeing that abortion is OK; they are either ignorant to the reality of it being a murder, or they themselves must embrace the slaughter of the innocent. I can not see this being any sort of a compromise when it comes to killing the innocent. I don't mean to offend anyone, but like I said in the beginning of all this, I have a very hard time with this topic.
See what I mean when it comes to this, it bothers me straight to the core of my heart. I feel my heart is teared out of my body every time I hear people talking about this like they are having a pimple removed. Just knowing that so many millions of innocent millions of unborn babies around the world are being teared apart inside their mothers womb, only to be discarded into the garbage just drives me crazy. Unfortunately many people in this world don't believe an unborn baby has any rights, or a soul, how sad. We must keep praying for these people involved. They can't be doctors, to the best of my knowledge, doctors heal, they don't kill. I know we must hate the sin of murder, not those doing or participating in them.
Let us pray for the innocent. I am sure God embraces them one by one as they enter into Heaven.

Such a Blessing - The Holy Family

Such a Blessing - The Holy Family
©2009 James Dacey, Jr. SFO
Hello Everyone,
Today we celebrate The Feast of The Holy Family. Each of us has been called to a very special task in our lives. Many of us are in families, obviously all of us are, but some of us are a direct member of a day to day living experience with a spouse, or siblings, or a mom and a dad, or many children. We all have been given a most blessed gift in whatever structure of a family that we live our lives. What is it that binds all of us together? Are we able to submit to Jesus, in the family setting? Can we live a life really close and private with Jesus while sharing a home with six other people? Oh yes we can.
The foundation of a family is two-fold. Where as Jesus is the center of the sacrament of marriage. So we have one man and one woman joining in the sacrament of marriage, and in the center of that commitment to one another is a commitment to Jesus, together and separate. I hope I didn't lose anyone with all that, I almost confused myself. LOL. Point here is that that is truly the perfect of all combinations to better secure and hold strong the family that will stay together for many years. Are all marriages and families all that perfect? Absolutely not, challenges and friction are a daily part of survival in a family. That is why we need Jesus all the more.
But let's see what is a family? Like the Holy Family, a family is the union of one man and one woman (united in the sacrament of marriage) and then the multiplying of children (Which we seem to have mastered in our home. LOL). A family truly has become "a family" once the children arrive. I realize that's not always true, but for the purpose of reflecting on the Holy Family, we'll look at it this way. Children are like the diamonds in the rough of life, they bring so much joy to a couple that mere words can never express the overflowing happiness. Yes there are countless hours of lost sleep, endless dirty diapers from such a small person, and many of us can agree, so much more. Jesus unites us so that we can take care of one another. Not only physically, but more importantly spiritually.
As a family "we" have a vocation together. I see it this way: We all need to support one another and help one another get to Heaven. For what purpose is this life if we don't use it to get to the next one in eternity with Jesus. And if we don't spend time nurturing and helping the flesh of our own flesh, what kind of an example are we when we try so hard to help our friends get to Heaven. That is why "the family" (our own families) needs to be our first vocation. There will be trials, challenges, fights, anger, resentment. Families will experience everything possible on this journey. We need to find that place in our own families were we can best serve each other, forgiving one another and loving one another no matter what.
Look at the Holy Family, ask Jesus to help you and your family be like His family.

Whoever Endures Will Be Saved

Hello Everyone,
What lies ahead is of cause unknown, but as we continue to follow Jesus and this world continues not following Him, our walk will continue to have its challenges. We must be like Him, His Grace is sufficient to help guide us through whatever is put before us in this life. Today we are reading Matthew 10:17-22 (Coming Persecutions) Jesus is very upfront about what we are to expect by following Him. The price will be great, but we must bear our own cross through this life. Jesus came to redeem us from our sins, but the only way we could do that, is through the cross.
Many of us will have a challenge dealing with the rejection and persecution from the world because of our love for Jesus. I say, "so be it". On a personally level aside from the obvious love for my family and love for so many dear friends; I am so far detached from this world that their rejection of me only further solidifies my faith. Nothing that is of this world that is not of God is anything that personally affects my faith and my walk with Jesus. I share this part of my faith with you, to show you that it is possible. I have dealt with different levels of rejection, nasty comments, and rudeness over these past 27 years. Honestly all that does is draw me ever so much closer to my Lord.
If there's one thing that we all need to understand about following after Jesus, is that because they have rejected and hated Him, they will do the same to us. I believe once you are able to fully accept that, staying strong in your faith becomes much easier. At times I get twisted comments from fellow believers (at least to say those who claim to love Jesus), so don't only think all this rejection comes from the atheistic part of the non believing world. Sometimes those around us that just can't comprehend the depths of excitement ridicule it. I have been known to be way over the top with spiritual excitement. LOL
I take no offense at the rejection. I only pray for the lost, misinformed and the misled. That's really all we can do. Yes I reach out also, and continue to, sometimes there maybe a break through. Prayer is so important, love those who hate you, pray for those who wish you ill. Sometimes only God can melt the hearts of the stone cold non-believers. To me there is so much joy in Jesus that no matter what negative comes rushing my way, the positive in my heart is so over flowing that there is virtually no affect, there vicious words are washed away in the over flowing love Jesus has given me.
Joy is the key. Sometimes I find it hard to explain the overwhelming, over flowing, extremely ecstatic amount of joy that is jam packed my my heart and soul because of my love for Jesus in my life. Many many years go, my mother once even commented, "I'm worried about you Jim." So funny, she said, "Does Father know how consumed you are, and that your lack of fear of death is so open?" We laughed, she was way too serious back then, but she now better understands me, and the depths of my faith. I can talk for hours about this. Please hold strong and trust in Jesus always.
Jesus is there for us always, hold strong and believe in Him, no matter what.

We laughed, she was way too serious back then, but she now better understands me, and the depths of my faith. I can talk for hours about this. Please hold strong and trust in Jesus always.
Jesus is there for us always, hold strong and believe in Him, no matter what.

Christmas - Jesus Christ is Born

Hello Everyone,
Today is a very special day. For our Lord and Savior has been born in Bethlehem of Judea. "For today in the city of David a Savior has been born for you who is Messiah and Lord." Luke 2:11. The world shall never be the same again because of His birth. God has become man, so that through His birth and eventual death, we shall be redeemed. There is only one God who has ever walked the face of the earth, and His name is Jesus.
Many in this world have rejected Him, many refuse to believe in Him. Yet no matter has been said or done He can never and shall never ever be removed from our hearts. many kings and lords have ruled the earth, yet none have a mere spec of the magnificence that there is in Jesus. Before man ever existed Jesus always has been. Today we celebrate the birth of our Savior brought to us in human form so that we to, can embrace Him. We have been given a most splendid gift in Jesus. God's love for us is without measure. He does all He can to show us how much He truly loves us. "When God, in the beginning, created man, He made him subject to his own free choice." What a magnificent gift God has given us, our own free will.
Free will is indeed a magnificent gift, but if we make selfish choices or ones that offend God, then we no longer chose God. The choices we make can change the direction of our eternity. God's wisdom can not be measured, His power can not be contained - He is almighty, and He shall never direct us to sin. His love for us holds no bounds, He entrusts us with our free will to do what is good. Happy are we indeed who spends our lives dug in His word, surrounded by His children, and totally fixed on His image. Nothing in this world can ever give our lives, our hearts, and our souls the pleasure and satisfaction that Jesus alone gives us.
For today we must recognize the gift we have been given in Jesus. For it is through Jesus that our life eternal with Him begins. There is so much in scripture that encourages us, and that fills our hearts with such joy. Spend as much time as you can in His word to better get to know Him. Trust in the Holy Spirit to guide your heart. "For those who live according to the flesh are concerned with the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the spirit with the things of the spirit. The concerns of the flesh is death, but the concern of the spirit is life and peace." Romans 8:5-6. I highly recommend you read Romans 8:1-13 your heart will be filled with so much joy, you will not be able to contain it.
Merry Christmas everybody, on this most glorious day !

The Rosary - The Glorious Mysteries
Beads of Joy 12-24-09
The Rosary - The Glorious Mysteries
©2009 James Dacey, Jr. SFO
Hello Everyone,
A time to celebrate, a time for all of us to scream and shout for joy. Jesus has defeated death and He has opened all eternity up for all of us. Let us celebrate The Glorious Mysteries. All that suffering, all that blood shed, all that pain, Alleluia !! Jesus has defeated death by His power. By doing so He has opened the doors of all eternity for us. Praise You Jesus for loving all of us so much that you died for my (our) sins and in dying you were raised. I pray that everyone sees the magnificent glory and power in Jesus, and that they embrace Him with a full heart in the Rosary.
The First Glorious Mystery is The Resurrection of Jesus. Jesus Christ has been risen ! He has forever destroyed the power of death, death shall no longer hold us to this earth or its destructive ending. By this we shall join Jesus in all eternity in Heaven. The Second Glorious Mystery is The Ascension of Jesus. Jesus has ascended to His Father's throne. We can now place our hopes and trust in the promise that God has made to us for everlasting life. Jesus took on our human nature and He has brought our frail human bodies to God's throne. It is through this mystery that we have been raised with Jesus rather than simply returned to the earth without everlasting life.
The Third Glorious Mystery is The Descent of the Holy Spirit. We can not save ourselves from within ourselves alone, Jesus knew this. So he gave us an advocate, a member of the blessed trinity to forever be with us. It is through the power of the Holy Spirit that we gain inspiration and instruction to live a life pleasing to God. The Fourth Glorious Mystery is The Assumption of Mary into Heaven. Our dear blessed Mother has taken the journey to be united with her Son. She was taken up to Heaven in body and soul. Mary gives us so much hope in the journey we are taking by following her Son.
The Fifth Glorious Mystery is The Coronation of Mary as Queen of Heaven. The church has taught us that second to God is Mary. It is through her that the dignity of women is defended. It is through her womb that almighty God was created to become man; to live, breathe and die so that we might eternally live with Him. In order for her to give birth to Jesus, she had to be holy and pure. Her crown is a crown of glory. I pray that in your life and in your heart that you to develop a deep desire to love and praise Jesus through the rosary. To me the rosary is the most perfect prayer, so fully focused on Jesus that my love for Him deepens all the more. The more I pray the rosary.
Embrace the Rosary as your favorite prayer, it will change your life.

The Rosary - The Sorrowful Mysteries
Beads of Joy 12-23-09
The Rosary - The Sorrowful Mysteries
©2009 James Dacey, Jr. SFO
Hello Everyone,
Now let us take a look at some of the very sorrowful moments in our Lord's life. Jesus willingly dies for us, so that through His death we might live eternally with Him. I believe that it is The Sorrowful Mysteries that we are drawn the closest to our Lord. I think our hearts cry out as we watch Him suffer, we see Him bleed and we see His flesh teared from His Holy Sacred body. I know when I watch the Scourging at the Pillar in the Passion of the Christ I can't help but cry and my cry is that of my insides being teared apart. The Sorrowful Mysteries indeed are the most moving emotionally to many of us.
The First Sorrowful Mystery is the Agony of Jesus in the Garden. Agony is such a powerful word, it feels like something deep within our soul is trying to deal with something outside our body, but in the attempt to connect it can't. His agony is for our despicable sins, and His desire to forgive us. The Second Sorrowful Mystery is the Scourging at the Pillar. What an intense time for our Lord to endure, His body was being lashed and beaten for my (our) sins. He suffered and bled like no one ever has. My heart and soul cried and screamed out loud just at the thought of my Lord and Savior having to go through this punishment because of me.
The Third Sorrowful Mystery is the Crowning with Thorns. It's bad enough that they beat Him and scourged His body to near death, now they further His suffering by pressing a crown of thorns on His head. The strength and power our Lord has is obvious without limits, but how cruel to further bring Him pain. The Fourth Sorrowful Mystery is Jesus Carrying His Cross. What incredible patience our Lord has while being under such horrific physical stress. It's medically been said that under any normal circumstances an average person would have died after all that abuse. Jesus my Lord, I am so sorry for my many sins, I cry and scream and beg for them to stop hurting You, I love you so much...
The Fifth Sorrowful Mystery is the Crucifixion. I have to say after all this pain inflicted upon our Lord, we know He seen the crucifixion as His gift to us. It is for this very moment that He was born into the world. His death has given us eternal life, and it is through His death that we see our sins that we must die to. Let us suffer with Him, let us carry our own crosses of sin and have them crucified and repent before our Lord. He so wants to forgive us, He so wants to embrace us. Let us live a life fully devoted to Him, let us not fear any suffering we must endure to attain His love.
Trust in Jesus, fear no pain when it draws you closer to Him.

The Rosary - The Luminous Mysteries
Beads of Joy 12-22-09
The Rosary - The Luminous Mysteries©2009 James Dacey, Jr. SFO
Hello Everyone,
In the Rosary we know have "The Luminous Mysteries". In 2002, Pope John Paul II blessed us with five simply amazing, exciting new mysteries that we see and learn even more about the works and ministry of our Lord. Our journey will begin with John the Baptist and end with the Eucharist. This is Jesus in action fulfilling His mission to save all of us. To me life is only as beautiful as it is because of Jesus, because He loves me so much, and because I can love Him so much back. I have used the word "immeasurable" many times when describing Jesus' love, and the joy it gives me.
The First Luminous Mystery is the Baptism of Jesus in the River Jordan. It was John the Baptist who baptized our Lord. And it was through that baptism that all those present at that baptism heard the voice of God. The overwhelming excitement of hearing God's voice must have been incredible. "This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased." Matthew 3:17
The Second Luminous Mystery is the miracle at The Wedding at Cana. Our Blessed Mother just knew that that was the time for her Son to begin His ministry and start His sharing His miracles with everyone. This particular miracle certainly blessed the newly married couple; as does this miracle bless all marriages. There is so much in this mystery to share, Jesus is the true vine. I encourage you to embrace the rosary in your life like never before, you will be filled with so much joy.
The Third Luminous Mystery is the Proclamation of the Kingdom of God. God's kingdom has begun. Jesus said, "Repent and believe the Good News." Jesus calls all of us to conversion and repentance to live a life pleasing to Him and dedicated to Him.
The Fourth Luminous Mystery is The Transfiguration of Jesus. Jesus is transformed before the disciples, God displays His Sons glory. The awe on the face of the disciples must have beyond words; there hearts must have instantly been filled with God's love. Oh how we to must find that same awe and feeling every time we just think of Jesus.
The Fifth Luminous Mystery is The Last Supper. It is here that Jesus gives us Himself in the Eucharist. We are so loved by Jesus that He has given us Himself to partake in every single time we go to Mass. "This is my body given up for you." What an absolutely perfect offering, from now on Jesus has been given to us by His eternal presence in the Holy Eucharist. The Luminous Mysteries add so much Joy to the Most Blessed Rosary. Pope John Paul II's wisdom and love for the Rosary has given us such a blessing as we meditate and pray pondering our thoughts on Jesus' life. Please continue embracing the rosary, you will find so much joy as you draw closer to Jesus.
Continue drawing yourself closer to Jesus through the Rosary.

The Rosary - The Joyful Mysteries
Beads of Joy 12-21-09
The Rosary - The Joyful Mysteries©2009 James Dacey, Jr. SFO
Hello Everyone,
The Rosary is undoubtedly one of the most loved prayers in the world. Our Lady's example of unselfishness, and obedience to God, teaches us that trusting God in all things; even that which we don't fully understand is so important. Today let us look at "The Joyful Mysteries". It's always exciting and absolutely joyous (pun intended. lol) to share the joy of the rosary, and what better way to do that then by starting with the Joyful Mysteries. Some people really have no clue about the rosary, I know that's hard to believe, others think we are worshipping Mary. I guess the only way you'll ever know, is that you need to spend all your time with Jesus when you are praying your rosary.
The First Joyful Mystery is the Annunciation. It is simply incredible and most encouraging to see how critical it is that we all respond to God's call everyday. We really don't know how important that call will be, trusting in Him is indeed a huge step in our faith. God's will for us, could be something as simple as Him using us as an instrument to get His message out to others.
The Second Joyful Mystery is the Visitation. This is generosity at its best. Our dear Blessed Mother teaches us here, that being generous to others, no matter what our current state is, is so important. We must be Christ like in all we do. Serving others in need should be a mission we all personally should seek.
The Third Joyful Mystery is the Birth of Jesus. Jesus Christ is born, let us celebrate Christmas all over the world. It is in this mystery that we should reflect on the simplicity of our life. Jesus Christ was born in the most humblest of places, at a level of poverty most of us could never fathom. Yet in that poverty, the joy of this simplicity is immeasurable.
The Fourth Joyful Mystery is The Presentation of Jesus in the Temple. Absolute obedience to the law, Mary and Joseph obeyed the laws of God. There obedience shows us how the simplest of lives focused fully on God can bring us so much joy.
The Fifth Joyful Mystery is The Finding of Jesus in the Temple. We must seek Him out, and do His will. Even if while we do so, it takes us out of the circle of security and familiar surroundings. Sometimes in order for us to do God's will we must leave everything to find Him. The Joyful Mysteries are indeed most Joyous. I pray that you can find that "sweet spot" in your life that in your service and obedience to God you are blessed with an immeasurable amount of joy. Nothing in this world can give us the same abundant joy that is found in God, His word, or His Rosary. Embrace the rosary, allow that chain and those tiny beads to draw you ever so much closer to Jesus.
Spend time praying your rosary everyday.

4th Sun of Advent - Time To Rejoice

4th Sun Advent - Time To Rejoice
©2009 James Dacey, Jr. SFO
Hello Everyone,
Hallelujah, Praise You Jesus. Here we are celebrating the 4th Sunday of Advent. Today we will reflect on how it is that our life's choices and expression affect those around us. We have influence on others, more than I think most of us might realize. Today's gospel is: Luke 1:39-45 (Mary Visits Elizabeth). We must remember that God, through His power, works His will through His children. It is such a blessing when we meet someone we know the Lord is working His miracles and His will through. Are we able to truly recognize the presence of the Lord in someones life? Are we able to really know that He is present in our own? What we do to fulfill God's will is critical to all of us, we don't realize sometimes how critical that is.
Anselm, the Archbishop of Canterbury back in the 11th century actually summed it up best, "With God's Son nothing could exist; without Mary's son, nothing could be redeemed." Mary was chosen by God, her choice to say, "Yes" to God and fulfill God's will through her life affected all of us. As we know, because she said yes, she received both the joy and sorrow of that choice. It is a huge privilege and responsibility to be chosen by God. Our joy must not decrease when we begin our lives journey of following God's will. The road will at times be hard, we will be confronted with difficulties, sorrow and pain. But knowing that the Lord gives us a supernatural joy, that death can't even take away; we are able to have the strength to forge forward in His name to do His will.
What it is about Mary's visit to her cousin Elizabeth before Jesus' birth that is so important for us to understand and see? Is it the joy of Jesus, through the power of the Holy Spirit that leaped into Elizabeth's womb, and John's immediate recognition of the Messiah? Was it Mary's unselfish act of love to be there for her cousin, because Elizabeth to was pregnant? Was that part of the story of the birth of Jesus, critical for us to understand the true power of the Holy Spirit and how much the Holy Spirit reveals Jesus' presence to us? So much to think about, so much to understand. I think we are beginning to see how these subtleties of obedience really do affect those around us. God worked His will through Mary's Grace of charity towards her cousin. We must learn by her example, and her life that we to can be a wonderful instrument for God's will. That is why Mary is so important for us, in our walk with Jesus.
Today let us reflect upon how we can live our life more in line with God's will, staying true to His word, and His ways. Our life must be lived selflessly, and our arms must be open to help others, no matter what challenges we ourselves are going through. If indeed God dwells within us and we are His instrument to share His love, we need to live in that joy and knowledge, of His presence in our every waking moment. Mary has given us a most joyous gift through her Son. But let us also recognize that her life of obedience and love for others also is significant for us to learn from. It is so important for us to love her, and adore her love for our Lord. All that she did is so important for us to observe as we walk in God's will in our own lives. Trust in God's choice in Mary.
She is an example we should all embrace.

Hello Everyone,
Advent is a most remarkable season in our faith. It is a time for us to renew our faith, our hope and our confidence in our Lord. Today we are reading Luke 1:5-25 (The Announcement of the Birth of John). Gabriel stands in Gods presence and speaks to Zechariah on behalf of God; scripture has taught us that if a messenger is sent to us, especially if it's Gabriel, we should be silent before him because we want to, and listen. <smile> John is to prepare the way for Jesus, what an absolutely incredible miracle Elizabeth has received, it is said that her womb was barren. The angel told Zechariah that "He will be great before the Lord."
Zechariah is a godly man and lived a life fully in tune with God's will in his life. Zechariah was born into a very holy family of priests. He was greeted by Gabriel, God's angelic messenger. Gabriel told Zechariah, "Do not be afraid, Zechariah, for your prayer is heard,.." It was overwhelming to him, it was so much to accept. Could his wife Elizabeth bear a son, if she was barren? Well his slight bit of doubt was all Gabriel had to hear. Zechariah was put in his place and made silent till John's birth. We must learn from this, that we must remain silent and obedient when our lives are being led and directed by the hand of God.
Can we really live a life attentive to God? Are His words in our hearts and mind, and do we have confidence and trust in Him? These past few days readings are teaching us how important it is for us to trust in God. And the trust we are learning about is unquestionable; we must be silent, open, and obedient to God's will in our lives. I sincerely believe this is easier then it sounds. I realize so many people in this world are all caught up in the "things" they possess, desire and think about in this world. It is possible to be completely detached from the chains of worldliness, and be fully in tune with Jesus and His will for us.
We are so fortunate to have the Holy Spirit to keep our faith alive to all God's promises to us. I can tell you that in my own life I have experienced many challenges, some I can say I probably helped cause; but there are many more that made no sense at all, as to why. Being silent before God wasn't and isn't always easy. I sometimes feel like I have to solve the problem as soon as I am confronted with it. But what I have learned through the years is that silence, prayer, and patience are powerful when it comes to doing God's will, even when all things look and seem impossible. We must remember that through God all things are possible.
Nothing in this world can ever replace or substitute God's love for us.

Hello Everyone,
The faith Mary and Joseph are about to be tested. The challenges ahead will not only test Joseph's trust in an angel that God had sent him, but Mary had the greatest risk bearing a child and she wasn't even officially married to Joseph yet. Back then there was zero toleration for pregnancy outside of marriage. Today we read Matthew 1:18-24 (The Birth of Jesus). Mary and Joseph without a doubt had some serious faith in what was about to happen. These miraculous events worked against all the laws of nature.
I cannot imagine the fear to some degree that they must have both had, of cause surrounded by deep faith and trust. Here Mary was told by an angel that she'd been given a son to her by the Holy Spirit, Joseph also was told by an angel to take Mary as his wife. Were these events beyond anything anyone could possibly comprehend, especially during that time in history. The only way anyone could possibly believe that this could be true and happen just as it was told to them; was they truly had to be filled with a very devout love and trust in God. And that love and trust gave them the strength, not to question these events, but instead embrace them to their fulfillment.
Joseph was a just man who's belief and fear of God was unshakable. Our dear Blessed Mother's faith and fear of God had to also be beyond anything we can remotely relate to. She did curiously ask how it could be possible, but once the question was answered she moved forward in faith and trust in God to fulfill His will for her. She very willingly embraced the unknown road ahead, she took the chance at being rejected not only by Joseph, but by her family and all those that they know.
Can we be as God fearing and trusting in the Lord when our life gets turned upside down and nothing is making any sense? As Christmas draws near let us approach the child Jesus with our hearts filled with His joy. Let's take this time to deepen our faith and hope in Him.
Stay strong in your faith and trust in God, His Word and His Will.

Jesus Christ - Son of David

Hello Everyone,
This is truly an exciting gospel today. Here is a magnificent chance to see the genealogy of our Lord, our God. Today we read Matthew 1:1-17 (The Genealogy of Jesus Christ). I am very drawn to this because of a number of reasons. You see I have been my own families historian for almost 15 years now. The study of our family through genealogy is fun, insightful and you always seem to learn something more about the family that no one else ever knew. What's wonderful when you study your own family, is that all your research on the people you are learning about, are directly connected to you through your bloodline.
Now Jesus' genealogy is unique and of cause perfect in its purpose. Jesus' genealogy is spiritual and a direct line from David shows us that Jesus is indeed the fulfillment of all God's promises to His people. The lineage travels from David, through Abraham and all the way down to Joseph; the husband of Mary, it's truly breath taking. What I have found in my own spiritual genealogy is that my own family roots has been so true to and focused on Our Lord. Now I can better see where the roots of my own devotion have come from.
What I have also learned in my so many years of research and talking to family members; is that our family devotion to Our Blessed Mother was and still is adored greatly in our family tree. I have a few family members who have played a really significant role in who I am in my life today spiritually. And all of us have always been devout Roman Catholics. Learning all this through the years has been so encouraging.
My grandmother (Susan DePete), and her sister (Helen Cashara) and inevitably my mother (Marie Dacey) and her sister (Ann Edwards) have been very influential on my direction to my devotion. When I was a child I spent much time over my grandparents house, I can remember that to this day like it was yesterday. My grandmother would sit next to me on the couch and hold my hands with her rosary in her hands, and she'd always say, "Let me tell you about two women I adore." and then she'd proceed telling me about her sister Helen and our Blessed Mother. Grandma always had her rosary with her, she also had a three foot statue of our blessed Mother in her bedroom. It use to be surrounded by roses and prayer cards. I remember that statue and how much she loved our Lady as if it were recent. She taught me so much about Mary, I didn't realize it then, I was too young, but looking back I can see what a dynamic role she played in my life spiritually, I am forever grateful.
I encourage all of you to do your own spiritual family genealogy research.

Should We Look For Another?

Hello Everyone,
This is a pretty remarkable gospel when you read it. Did John doubt Jesus? Couldn't John see by the miracles of Jesus, that He indeed was the one they were waiting for? Today's gospel is Luke 7:18-23 (The Messengers of John the Baptist). Are we like John in our faith? Do we not see that Jesus is indeed the Messiah, the Son of God, our Savior? I know I am starting with a whole bunch of questions, but this gospel has a question in it that makes me wonder why John was wondering. "Are you he who is to come, or shall we look for another?" verse 20
It is very possible that this doubt was within those following John. And John in his wisdom knew that by sending them to Jesus to ask the question of Him, they would see for themselves first hand not only in word; but in witness that Jesus was indeed the Christ. John knew Jesus was He who has to come; John baptized Jesus and recognized that He was the lamb of God. I guess we'll never truly know but I like to think John was only trying to help those who weren't certain to help them more deeply believe.
Why did Jesus come into the world? He came to set us free from our sins. The worst tyranny anyone can experience is slavery to their sins. If you are a slave to your sins and your full focus in your life is on those sins, that would also probably have you also fear death. Jesus came into the world to save us from all that. The good news Jesus brought to us brings joy and freedom into our lives. We must embrace Him, His Word, and never let Him go, never doubt Him and absolutely never question Him.
Today take on the challenge in your own life. Place complete trust in who Jesus says He is. Never allow doubt to direct your heart away from Him. Instead learn from His Word that He is indeed who He says He is. What this gospel is showing us is that their is always a possibility that we can look at Jesus and not even recognize Him, no matter who we are. Let us not fall into that delusion, and allow worldly blurring of misdirection ever lead us to questioning Jesus. Our love for Him must be true, and sincere and in no way be in jepordy of not believing. Open your hearts, let Him in, embrace Him and never doubt Him, never question Him. He died for every sin we have ever commited or will ever commit. Jesus loves us in all of our imperfections.
Trust in He who has come to free us from our sins.

Hello Everyone,
Oh wow was today's study fun. I really enjoy studying, learning and sharing all I can when it comes to parables. The thing I enjoy so much about a parable is that it channels so much spiritual truth, in sometimes just a few sentences. They are always full of wisdom because they carry so much conviction and divine authority; parables kinda stir up or excite the conscience and the sub-conscience.
Another very intriguing part is that no single interpretation can exhaust its meaning. They are truly gems with multiple reflections, views and angles of beauty and wisdom. And every parable is its own distinct treasure chest of wisdom to be shared. Today we look at Matthew 21:28-32 (The Parable of the Two Sons). God will only ask of the services of those who are His own. In this parable both sons heard the same command from their Father. One refused to obey, but later repented and the other said he'd obey, but failed to. Both sons were wrong in how they responded to their Father. The first rebelled with a "no" while the second deceived him with a "yes".
There is so much insight in the simplicity of these words. Even though the first son was rebellious and guilty of not obeying his Father; he saw the wickedness of his sin and felt the need for repentance in his heart. And that led him to do his Father's will in the vineyard. Yet the second son acted righteous and obedient and agreed to do that which his Father requested of him, but in the end he was disobedient and rebellious to his Father. He straight out lied to his Father. Of the two it was indeed the first son who truly obey his Father.
Now let us think for a moment are we really ready to obey God, and to be chosen by Him to do His work in the vineyard? God doesn't only want our good intentions, it's clear in this parable that good intentions alone with a promise don't count; especially when one don't follow through. Our Lord wants our hearts to change, and in that change show Him that we want to do His will. There are so many wonderful gifts that we receive from God. The choices we make, the life we live now, will indeed determine our eternity. We must think before we act, before we respond, before we do anything that not only offends our Lord, but shuts Him out.
The Grace God gives us, His truth, His love, and righteousness. All bless our lives.

By What Authority

By What Authority

Hello Everyone,
The week has begun and Praise Jesus we have a fantastic gospel to begin the week with: Matthew 21:23-27 (The Authority of Jesus Questioned). Who would think that our Lord and Savior would be questioned about His authority. It was the chief priests and elders of the people who tried questioning Jesus, but in His infinite wisdom He would answer their question, if they would first answer His question about John's baptism. But the chief priests and elders feared the people if they were to say that the baptism was by human authority, and if they said it was by Heavenly authority, Jesus would want to know why they didn't believe Him. So much wisdom packed in that response. So Jesus did not answer their question.
Do we ever feel like we are being questioned by others about what authority we practice our faith? or what church we attend? or anything we do? Jesus Christ is our Lord and Savior, we need not answer to anyone but Him. Our faith, our life, all that we believe all that we do, is all centered around our love for Him. I personally consider Him thee single most important driving force in my life when I make all of my life's choices. And in the past I have had issues because of it. But no one has ever or will ever turn me away from Lord. I proudly would reply, "I was praying", they'd say "Why, who said you have to pray?" All things are so simple when Jesus is the reason. I simply said,"I pray because Jesus is the most important person in my life." That's happened twice in my life where I answered that. I never got a response back from those people.
I try to live my life the way that would keep me closest to my Lord. So my habit when I am working is that when there is "quiet" time and I am busy doing something, sometimes for hours; I pray, to myself. Sometimes it's obvious that I am murmuring something. I usually pray my rosary, all 20 decades, over and over throughout my work day. And then when I feel led by the Spirit, I just chit chat in my heart with my Lord. And let me tell you, I can go on for hours speaking to Him and then I also spend many hours just listening to Him, pondering how much I love Him.
Today I challenge you to be bold in your faith. Not in anyway that would insight a fight. What I am saying is to allow the Spirit to truly guide you through your day. Pray as often as you possibly can, either in some prepared prayer format or just conversation. Let me say that when you do this everyday, all the time, for decades, you will feel a dramatic change in your life and you will know for a fact, by what authority you do these things.
Trust in Jesus, talk to Him, spend every waking hour with Him.

Hello Everyone,
A most joyous day today is, as we got closer and closer to our Lord's birth. Today we continue our studies from last Sunday's, today is the 3rd Sun of Advent and we are reading Luke 3:10-18. In John's message he told the people three things: First to share their goods by living a sacrificial life, second do not take more from anyone than is due and third, he asked everyone to be content with what they have. Three simple yet very profoundly insightful life changing lessons.
Does the Good News of God's word fill our hearts with joy, and do we experience the life changing power in all we do? John's message is all about repenting, and He taught it in a very practical way. John was sent to awaken the interest all of those around him, unsettle them from their contentment and guide them to turn and see Jesus and recognize Him and receive Him when He came.
Let's look at each of John's requests. For starters we are to "share your goods by living a sacrificial life" In doing this our life isn't all wrapped up in being bonded to the things we own, but instead by sharing the things we have with others, shows our true love and sacrifice and generosity. We must also "not take more from anyone than is due", misrepresentation of someones bill, or taxes, or anything that involves our honesty required to tell others based on our trust, needs to be represented as if Jesus Himself were representing the activity.
And now thirdly which I believe is the foundation to everything we do and say and share. We need to be "content with what we have" once we have "mastered" this our lives will be filled with so much joy that it will be unlike anything we have ever experienced in our lives. The amount of Joy I am talking about will overflow from you, and you will have so much to give, so much to share. Your eyes will never be focused on yourself ever again, you won't be looking to fulfill your own selfish desires; instead because of your contentment your heart and joy will lead you be there for others. I challenge everyone do like John is asking us to be.
Jesus first, followed by others next, then me last !!!

Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe
Beads of Joy 12-12-09
Our Lady of Guadalupe

Hello Everyone,
Today we celebrate the feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe. A poor Indian boy named Cuauhtlatlatohuac, who was later at his baptism named Juan Diego. Here are the events related to the miracles of Our Lady of Guadalupe.
Chronology of Events
1525 - Baptism of Juan Diego, by a Franciscan priest.
1531 - December 12, 1531, the day Juan Diego opened his tilma and roses fell to the ground in front of the Bishop. And on Juan Diego's tilma appeared an image of Our Lady exactly as she appeared at the hill of Tepeyac.
1946 - Pope Pius XII declared Our Lady to be the Patroness of the Americas.
1976 - The new basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe, was dedicated to our Lady, just 4 miles from central Mexico City.
1988 - On December 12th, Our Lady of Guadalupe was raised to the status of a "solemnity" in all of the United States.
1999 - Pope John Paul II, at his 3rd visit to the sanctuary make the date of December 12th as a Liturgical Feast.
Our Lady of Guadalupe Prayer
God of power and mercy, you blessed the Americas at Tepeyac with the presence of the Virgin Mary of Guadalupe. May her prayers help all men and women to accept each other as brothers and sisters. Through your justice present in our hearts, may your peace reign in the world. We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever.
Amen.

Hello Everyone,
What a fascinating exciting gospel today's is. Today we look at what is a continuation from yesterday's reading with a very little known two verse parable. I have numerous websites that I use for my research and a nice size library at home where I do all my daily bible study. But today's research was like finding a diamond in the rough. Today we reflect on Matthew 11:16-19 (Jesus' Testimony to John). It is in this short gospel reading that verses 18-19 share as I said earlier, a very little known parable. "The Parable of the Children's Game"
Why is it that it seems at that time that John the Baptist's message of Jesus had so much resistance? Some have said it was just spiritual blindness, others say the scribes and Pharisees were jealous. Both of these roadblocks caused the scribes and Pharisees to close their hearts to the message of John the Baptist, and then eventually Jesus' message. This parable and its brief explanation which I will explain shortly, has me wondering how in tune is everyone with the message of our Lord? Jesus shares the "Good News" to all those who listen and His Good News fills us with immeasurable joy and freedom; but Jesus' Good News comes with warning to all those who refuse to obey.
Now let's look at the explanation of this parable: John and Jesus are the children; there was a call to play a wedding game, and then a call to play a funeral game. The others are the Palestinian contemporaries, who rejected the seriousness of what John was preaching and then rejected the light yoke of Jesus' preaching. Why is that so many were out of tune with either message? I guess we can say that like Jesus' time, our own generation of people are very selective hearing and block out Jesus in their lives.
Is there a problem in how we express our faith, are we spiritually dull? The Good News that Jesus shared with us needs to be shared with everyone. In my life our Lords Good News has exploded inside me with so much abundant joy that I absolutely can not contain it. No matter what situation I am in, no matter how unfortunate I am in being worldly successful, or financially rich; the bottom to my life is none of that has anything to do with the extent of overwhelming exciting joy of Jesus that is in my heart. My love for my Lord is my life's treasure.
Let's keep our life in tune with Jesus' message of hope.

No One Greater Than John
©2009 James Dacey, Jr. SFO
Hello Everyone,
Today's gospel is Matthew 11:11-15 (Jesus' Testimony to John). This is so exciting how Jesus praised John the Baptist as being one of the greatest ever born; yet without skipping a beat directly after saying that Jesus said, "yet he who is least in the kingdom of Heaven is greater than he." We must really understand the significance of who John the Baptist is; not only being the one who pointed all of us towards Jesus, but for John's martyrdom in order to fulfill the promise of Elijah.
Even in today's times some have been called to be martyrs for our faith and love for Jesus. We must not fear death, nothing in this life, or in this world can take Jesus from us, unless we allow it. If we hold strong and never give in, even if they take all we have including our life; even with all that power from the evil that is in this world, they still have no power to take Jesus from us. They (meaning those who hate us for our love for Jesus) can do no harm to us, even if they teared apart our bodies and burned them. We'd still possess Jesus for all eternity in our heart and soul. That is so exciting, I feel so blessed knowing that.
In our lives today are we like John the Baptist, eager to witness to others the joy and freedom we have found in Jesus? Do we really fully trust in Him? Our faith not only should be rooted in knowing where we are going at the end of this life; but it should be rooted in what we are expected to do and experience in this life. Jesus never promised us that it would all be rosy, peachy, time to celebrate fun experience following Him. We to must bear our own daily cross in choosing to follow Him. Think of it like this, we must over come our fear with faith, it is through Jesus that we will overcome any trial or challenge that puts our faith in question.
Let us never allow the evil one to direct our lives, our hearts, and our mind to stray away from our Lord. Jesus already faught the fight for us, He already won the war. All we must do is follow Him to our own victory at our death, and be a good and faithful servant, so that we to can be united with Him in Heaven. We will al rejoice when that day comes, let us not lose heart now in the daily battles we all face against the evil we know in the end is defeated.
Trust in our Lady to draw you close to her Son.

Jesus Will Give You Rest

Hello Everyone,
During the Advent season, we celebrate at this time the coming of our Messianic King. Today's exciting gospel can be found in Matthew 11:28-30 (The Gentile Mastery of Christ). It is only Jesus who can lift the burden and shame of our sins, and it is only Jesus who can take away the hopelessness many of us have in this life. Jesus is the only one who can promise God's Kingdom, He is the only one who will embrace us when everyone else in the world discards us. He is the only one who'd carry us when we can no longer walk on our own.
Did you know that Oxen are yoked two by two? In verse 29, "Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me,.." Jesus wants us to be yoked with Him, in doing so our burdens are lightened. We are all meant to be disciples of Jesus, and we are to be life long learners. If you look up the definition of "yoke" you'll read that it's "a wooden bar, so constructed as to unite two animals, enabling them joined at the head or necks to work together." How exciting this illustration is when taking the Lord's yoke. This will mean that we need to consider the cost of this in our life. In order to do this together with Jesus, we must realize that the mind and heart of Jesus is unlike anything we've ever encountered.
In releasing us from the bondage of sin, we voluntarily act and accept the Father's will for us. We will need to consider an acceptable consecration; meaning we would turn from our worldly goals, selfish plans, ambition and desires that seek to build our own ego's and gratification. In essence this means that our talents, our possessions and any influences we may have, all belong to the Lord. Will we allow Jesus to use our hands for His work, our feet to go in the direction He is leading us? Will we allow Jesus to use our eyes to see as He sees, our tongues to speak as He would speak; and our minds and spirit to better serve Him. And above everything our hearts to love Him, we must give Him our whole self, holding nothing back.
Now with all that said, let us ponder these thoughts: Do we really know the joy of spending our lives with Jesus, and walking with Him everyday along a path that He so desires for us to follow? We can trust that God alone only knows what is best for us, how we can better serve Him and when it is that He will be calling us home. I am thrilled that Jesus is the center of my life, I place no trust in the world we live in to save me, love me and protect me so that I can spend eternity in Heaven. The world we live in this culture of death, and it bears no evidence of compassion, love or concern for our soul. The Kingdom of God that Jesus has died for for us, is beyond a doubt the one thing we should all embrace, and be willing to die for.
Jesus Christ needs to be your central focus in everything you do.

Immaculate Conception of Mary

Immaculate Conception of Mary
©2009 James Dacey, Jr. SFO
Hello Everyone,
Today we celebrate a most joyous blessed celebration of the Immaculate Conception of our dearest Blessed Mother. Throughout time more and more we can see and know that she certainly was "full of grace". No other person in the entire existence of life has ever had the privilege from Almighty God to bore the Son of God. Seriously think of this connection. Christ who is without sin, by the power of the Holy Spirit was conceived in the womb of our Blessed Mother. The blood and nutrients that flowed through Mary's body, flowed through Jesus' sacred body.
Mary's immediate response to the angel Gabriel, shows us that she had complete trust and confidence in God's promises; without ever knowing where it was all leading to. God gave Mary the grace and strength to stay true to the course (that is God's will), that He had planned for her. Without hesitation God pours grace upon all those who believe in Him. The heart felt trust Mary had in God is the same He wants from us. We have a choice: Do we yield to God's grace with willingness and obedience; or do we resist it and embrace the evil in our world?
Today's celebration is focused on the purity of our Blessed Mother. She is without a doubt directly after our Lord, thee purest human that has ever lived. In order for her to carry in her womb the Son of God who is thee purest, she had to be pure. She was full of grace because of her trust in God's word. How seriously do we believe in God's word, His promises, and what grace He will bestow upon us in our life? Do we seriously live a life so simple and so pure, that we would instantly say, "yes" if we were asked to do something that God asked of us that might possibly hurt us, from the angle we see it, or do we trust that only God knows what's best for us? Would our trust out weigh our doubt and personal fears? It's something to think about.
Those are important questions that need to be considered. The challenge we should all take on in our lives; should be to live a life before our Lord that emulates His mother's. She knew when she was speaking to the angel Gabriel that that conversation; and what he was saying about the soon to be miracle birth were beyond any human understanding. Yet regardless of the obvious, her love and devotion and deepest trust in God surpassed any doubt that would turn her away from God's request. We must embrace Mary as our Mother and follow her to our Lord.
Like Mary, we must have no fear, and live a life pleasing to God.

Your Sins Are Forgiven
©2009 James Dacey, Jr. SFO
Hello Everyone,
The miracles of Jesus once again at work healing those who seek Him. Nothing in this life should keep us from receiving God's blessings. Today's gospel can be found in Luke 5:17-26 (The Healing of the Paralytic). Jesus heals us in two very exciting ways: physically when it's in His will for us and spiritually when in our free will we so desire Him and seek Him out.
Sin is the one thing that can cripple us from accomplishing the will in our life that God has for us. Since we are all sinners, and completely stopping sin in our life is impossible; we must do all we can to go to confession as frequently as possible to keep our soul pure. God's forgiveness in the sacrament of confession will greatly cleanse our soul before God. We must not only take care of our physical body, but we must also take care of our spiritual one as well. Sin is the work of the evil one and his kingdom is the one of only darkness. Let us keep our soul clean and pure before the Lord. Frequent confession and frequent communion are good for the soul. Let us live a life pleasing before the Lord, showing Him what's important to us in our lives by doing what it takes.
One of the truly greatest gifts God has given us is His Grace. It is by the Grace of God that we are healed from our sins in confession. It is by the Grace of God that we can resist sin in our life. It is by the Grace of God that an addiction can be conquered. Take some time and read the "Catechism of the Catholic Church", not only will you be greatly blessed by seeing how much scripture is enriched in our faith; but your love and unshakable stand in the Roman Catholic Church will fill you with tremendous joy. Here are two excerpts: (CCC 1996) "Grace is favor, the free and undeserved help God gives us to respond to His call..."(CCC 2003) "Grace is first and foremost the gift of the Spirit who justifies and sanctifies us."
Let us seriously live a life that is pleasing to God. In our prayers let us ask for His Grace and love as we do all we can to live our lives according to His will for us. Let us not allow the burden of guilt or the stubbornness of pride keep us from a most Holy confession. Have no fear, find yourself a priest who sincerely loves the Eucharist and adores our Blessed Mother, and you will be blessed by a loving caring person who will guide you as God so desires for you in your life. Trust in God as you begin to keep your soul clean before the Lord.
Allow the Grace of God to cleanse you, and fill you with abundant joy.

Your Sins Are Forgiven

2nd Sun of Advent - Prepare The Way

2nd Sun. of Advent - Prepare The Way

Hello Everyone,
Today's gospel is most joyous as we celebrate the second Sunday of Advent. Today we reflect upon Luke 3:1-6 (The Preaching of John the Baptist). It was John who was the forerunner who prepared the way for Jesus. John was the one who bridged the old testament and the soon to be new testaments together. John was bold and feared no man in his witness to Jesus. In that John became the first martyr and suffered greatly for his witness.
John knew of Jesus in his mother's womb. It was in Luke 1:41, "When Elizabeth heard Mary's greeting, the infant leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth, filled with the Holy Spirit,.." We must leap for joy upon hearing His greeting. For us, it is by our conversion of hearts and mind to live in such a way that is pleasing to God. By doing so we will turn away from our sins, drawing us ever so much closer to our Lord. The hunger inside us must be great for Jesus. He must be the single most important focus in our lives, nothing must come between Him and us.
Do we live a life hungry for the Word of God and do we allow His words to shape our lifestyle, our hopes, and our dreams? Let us be like John, and never allow the desires in this world to keep us away from Him. Jesus himself directs us to God and away from the desires of the world, it's in Luke 20:25, "So he said to them,"Then repay Caesar what belongs to Caesar and to God what belongs to God." We belong to God. He died so that we might live. Our lives should be a devout sacrifice offered fully to our Lord.
Let us take on the challenge to the best of our ability to live a life as John did. So that we to should be like John, and do the bidding of the Lord. It is my thoughts that we should totally be consumed in all that directs us to Heaven. Here are a few verses to help better understand why I feel so strongly about that. John 8:12 "Jesus spoke to them again saying, I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.", and another special verse that inspires me is Luke 9:23-25, "If any wishes to come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me. For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will save it. What profit is there for one to gain the whole world yet lose or forfeit himself?"
Praying everyday draws your heart ever so much closer to Jesus.

The Kingdom of God Is Within You

Hello Everyone,
A very simple message today, so simple yet very profoundly exciting. The Reign of God is imminent and now in today's gospel it is time for Jesus to commission the twelve to continue. Today we are reflecting on Matthew 9:35-10:1,6-8 (The Compassion of Jesus / The mission and commissioning of the twelve). It is so exciting to know that upon the Lord's return in all His glory, that He alone will fully restore His Kingdom.
Let us reflect for a moment on the "Lord's Prayer", and more specifically on "Matthew 6:10 - your Kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in Heaven." It is said that it is this part of the "Lord's Prayer" that sets its tone; and clearly shows the balance of power on earth and in Heaven. It is also very clear of the divine purpose that begins here on earth and is always present in Heaven. This might have many of us wondering; what then is the kingdom of God? I believe that the Kingdom of God is the power of God at work in His people; that is to say, those who honor, love and trust fully in Him.
Jesus commissioned the twelve, to continue the ministry, to spread God's word and heal the sick and the oppressed. Jesus told them to freely give without payment. It was time for the disciples to pass on all God's splendor to those who follow and believe in Him. The Kingdom of God is available to everyone who wants it.
I ask you today: Do all of us live a life that makes it obvious, that we are confident in our hope for God's Kingdom to come? The greatest most wonderful part of God's Kingdom is that every single one of us are equally able to receive it, the very "Kingdom of God ! Heaven !" will be within our hearts. I like the way it was said in the movie, "King of Kings", "The Kingdom of God is within you." I can't help but share how much joy all this brings to my heart as it probably does yours. Jesus Christ and His Kingdom fill our hearts with so much love, so much compassion that our lives reflect all of what God is and what He wants us to be in our lives.
Openly receive our Lord into your heart so that He can be part of your life.

Hello Everyone,
In today's gospel Jesus heals two blind men. Praise Jesus for His power and mercy in healing these two suffering men. Today's gospel is Matthew 9:27-31 (The Healing of Two Blind Men). Are we blind when Jesus is near? These two men recognized the power Jesus had to heal, and they had heard that He would be passing by. When He did pass they "followed" and cried out, "Son of David, have pity on me!". Son of David is a messianic title that connected with the healing power of Jesus in the gospel of Mark and Luke, but mostly in Matthew.
Do we have blindness in our lives like these two men had? Are we able to see clearly and are we able to recognize God's power in our lives? These two men eagerly followed Jesus immediately as He passed by. Even though these two men were blind, they just knew that Jesus not only had the power to heal them; but that Jesus' compassion for them would open their hearts to an even deeper love for Him. These two men were spiritually and physically restored and now their hearts were filled with so much joy and love that they couldn't contain it, that is why in the last verse these two men spread the word about Jesus throughout the land.
If there's anything I would hope my blog's share the most; it would be a heart filled with a level of joy that is enormous, just from knowing and loving Jesus every single day of your life. I really hope that so many of you are able to connect, so that you recognize the overflowing JOY that is in your heart and life because of Jesus. No one in the world could ever fill us with joy like Jesus does, no one! Jesus is our eternal Savior, He has come into the world to die for us, to open the very doors of Heaven, so He can bring us home to His Father, our Father. Once we begin to recognize the splendor of His power, the depth of His love, and the truth in His word, our lives will never be the same.
God has always wanted to transform our lives, and set us free from the bondage of our sins and the corruption of this world. He wants us to be with Him in His Kingdom for all eternity. It is in God's love for us, that He has freely given us the gift of faith. Our faith comes alive when we trust in Him, and we live a life obedient to His will for us. Our Lord will never ever turn from us, but we must stay faithful to Him and trust Him. No matter what happens to us in this life; we must trust that in the end we will be with Him for all eternity.
Never be blinded by the obstructions of this world. Always follow Jesus no matter what.

Hello Everyone,
This gospel was exciting, I know I say that all the time. Today's gospel is Matthew 7:21,24-27 (The True Disciple / The Two Foundations). Our Lord speaks to us in hard straight talk today, a reality that is very good for all of us to hear. The bottom line is, in order for us to get into God's Kingdom, we must be doing God's will in our life. When the day of judgment comes, and it will for each of us; the morally corrupt will be rejected by Jesus.
Where do we place all our trust and security in time of destruction? We need to lean on Jesus and build our lives with Him as our lives with Him as our foundation. In Psalm 18:3 "I love you, Lord, my strength, Lord, my rock, my fortress, my deliverer, My God, my rock of refuge, my shield, my saving horn, my strong hold." Scripture shows us that those who have all their security in anything other than God will be destroyed. That is why we must build our lives upon a foundation that will survive any storm that will come. It takes foresight and faith to build in a world that rejects Jesus.
Just remember God sees our hearts as they truly are. He knows our motives, including our ulterior ones. He knows our intentions, our desires and the reasons for the choices we make. But we can survive this very easily in our lives, by just being true to God. The things we do, the choices we make not only in public, but more importantly in private when no one but God is watching really counts. Our character is tested when we take an exam in private, tell the actual truth, and when we're depended upon to be reliable and honest. There are so many ways our character is tested each day. We must heed God's word and do all we can to live by it, with no fear of a storm.
Can we survive the storms that life unexpectedly give us? We must be prepared at all times. Jesus must reign supreme in our lives and our lives must be solid in His Word. There is nothing else in this life that matters, or should matter. Jesus must be first in everything. Let us be prepared everyday and in every way we possibly can, to better serve Him.
Honker down on a solid foundation of faith that is unshakable.

How Many Loaves Have You?

Hello Everyone,
Today's gospel fulfills a hunger we all have, not only for food but more importantly for God. The gospel today is: Matthew 15:29-37 (The Healing of Many / Feeding of the 4,000). All of God's children long and desire Him. Sometimes we don't realize that it's Him, we are aching for. Once we do realize it's Him, we begin to understand. Before you knew Jesus like you do today, don't you remember that empty pit in your soul that always felt like it needed to be filled. It's a space inside our soul, that only Jesus can fill.
In the gospel the disciples were faced with the dilemma of feeding the 4,000 and questioned Jesus where they'd, "ever get enough bread in this deserted place." It was Jesus that asked them what do you have, and He took what they had and from that He fulfilled the needs of the 4,000. And it's said in the gospel that, "They all ate and were satisfied." It's when Jesus and only Jesus fills our every need, that we need nothing, except what we have, and with that we give it to Him, and He multiples it in our lives.
God alone knows our needs, and it is He who cares for us. And when God gives us those needs, He gives it to us in abundance. The leftovers in this gospel are expressed as being seven times what they started with. Seven is a symbol in our faith, it usually refers to wholeness. We must trust in God that He alone will see to our needs; not only to the exact amount but that He will give us far beyond our needs.
This reading has me thinking: Are we satisfied by the way our Lord provides for us? Do we look at our life, our trials, our short comings; and then in our prayers feel that God is meeting our needs in an abundance that far exceeds our request? I realize that that's a lot to take in, but what are we asking for? I believe in order to be fulfilled by God our requests must be in His love and His compassion and what directs our life to do His will. I personally ask God to fill my heart with His Joy, and believe you me, He over does it to me in my life to the point that it never stops overflowing. My life is the perfect example, I have had challenges my whole life in all capacities, all I have honestly ever asked for was this: Please Lord keep me loyal to you through this, keep my heart next to yours and please fill my heart with so much joy that I can never ever contain it, and from that I can get through anything that happens in my life. Amen.... It has happened a bazillion fold to me in my life.
Allow Jesus to satisfy the deepest hunger and longing for Him that you have in your heart.
