Jesus - Lasting Security
Jesus - Lasting Security
©2011 James Dacey, Jr. SFO
Hello Everyone,
Almighty God has given us the greatest security we can ever ask for in our lives. No IRA or stock pile of cash or gold, or shares of stock can ever equal, even a mere fraction of God's wealth and security that are available to all of us. Even if Bill Gates himself put on the table all that he had, it wouldn't have any value in relation to the gift God has given us. God's gift is beyond magnificent, and it was Jesus who paid our debt in full; which was necessary to be paid for us, in order that we to might receive the gift of eternal life. There is no price, or amount of wealth that can ever pay for eternity with Jesus. How can the false security of this world possibly have any value before God? I believe God only sees value if what we have we share. In other words, God will bless us, as we use what we have to bless others. If we protect and selfishly embrace the blessings God has given us, I don't believe we will be blessed the same way.
Our enemy the devil, is trying his hardest to convince us; that staying attached to our wealth here is the way to go. When indeed all it will do, is become a wedge between us and God. We have to "let go" of everything here, and grab hold of Jesus. Until we fully let go of all these things, including the money and the wealth, the ego and the pride; there is no way that we honestly can grab and hold on to Jesus. See satan has an objective, if he can fill our lives with enough meaningless distractions, we won't have the time, or the patience or the desire to see, hear, listen to, learn from or hold Jesus. And that would make him very happy. Just as satan was separated from God, he wants to have us separated from God. Our detachment from the (so called) securities here keeps us closer to Jesus.
The only thing we should be focusing on here, is relationships, starting with our relationship with Jesus. Then with His mom, and the Holy Spirit, God the Father, and then family and friends. There is nothing else in the world that has any true lasting value. Open your heart, and make friends in fellowship, sharing Jesus even further and deeper in prayer together. There is a certain synergy that radiates off of believers, and when we get together, it's like a super nova exploding. In other words it very hard to hide, we can only be true to ourselves, by being true to God. Here are some scriptures sharing God's eternal security with us.
"My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand." John 10:27-19
"...for God’s gifts and his call are irrevocable." Romans 11:29
"All those the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never drive away." John 6:37
"And you also were included in Christ when you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation. When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession—to the praise of his glory." Ephesians 1:13-14
Today's Gospel: Luke 11:14-23 (Jesus and Beelzebul)
"Now he was casting out a demon that was dumb; when the demon had gone out, the dumb man spoke, and the people marveled. But some of them said, "He casts out demons by Beelzebul, the prince of demons"; while others, to test him, sought from him a sign from heaven. But he, knowing their thoughts, said to them, "Every kingdom divided against itself is laid waste, and a divided household falls. And if Satan also is divided against himself, how will his kingdom stand? For you say that I cast out demons by Beelzebul. And if I cast out demons by Beelzebul, by whom do your sons cast them out? Therefore they shall be your judges. But if it is by the finger of God that I cast out demons, then the kingdom of God has come upon you. When a strong man, fully armed, guards his own palace, his goods are in peace; but when one stronger than he assails him and overcomes him, he takes away his armor in which he trusted, and divides his spoil. He who is not with me is against me, and he who does not gather with me scatters."
Questions To Ponder Today:
-What do you consider the most secure future?
-How much have you seriously invested in Jesus?
-Have I made Jesus the Master of my life?
-What do all my possessions do for me for "eternity"?
(Consider others today, forget about your possessions,
build relationships, focus on the forgotten.)
Think about family and friends you know are lonely.

Reverence - For Gods Law
Reverence - For Gods Law
©2011 James Dacey, Jr. SFO
Hello Everyone,
Jesus didn't come to cancel out the old testament, or to replace the old testament laws, he instead came into the world to fulfill the laws. Jesus was foretold in the old testament, He came to magnify and solidify the laws; He basically took the laws to the next level of understanding. I'd like to share more of the script from the movie "Fireproof", sorry if I do that a lot, but using all the tools I can to help share our Lord is my goal. And many will agree that that movie is incredible, awesome message of love and devotion, and staying with your partner, "You never leave your partner, especially in a fire." The fire referring to, basically any heated up, difficult times that devastate a family.
Let me set the scene, Caleb and his dad were talking while walking down a trail (where an old summer camp use to be) talking about the challenges in Calebs marriage. His dad has much love for God and he has already turned his life around by living his life for Jesus. Please take the time to really read this, and if you haven't watched the movie yet, I highly recommend you do. Read these words, there is so much wisdom:
FIREPROOF (script excerpt)
Caleb
Dad, if you're gonna tell me l need Jesus, please don't.
l don't need a crutch to get through life.
Caleb's Dad
Oh, son, Jesus is much more than a crutch.
He's become the most significant part of our lives.
Caleb
Dad, why do you keep saying that?
He's the most significant part?
How is that?
Caleb's Dad
When l realized who l was
and who he was...
...l realized my need for him.
l needed his forgiveness
and salvation.
Caleb
See, l don't understand that.
Why do l need his salvation?
What, am l gonna be thrown into hell?
For what? Because l got divorced?
Caleb's Dad
No.
Because you violated his standards.
Caleb
What? Thou shall not kill?
Dad, l help people. l am a good person.
Caleb's Dad
According to you.
But God doesn't judge
by your standards. -He uses his.
Caleb
-And what are his?
Caleb's Dad
Well, truth.
Caleb
-Okay.
Caleb's Dad
-Love.
Caleb
-l'm honest.
Caleb's Dad
-Faithfulness.
Caleb
l care about people.
l am those things.
Caleb's Dad
Sometimes.
But have you loved God,
the one who gave you life?
His standards are so high,
he considers hatred to be murder...
...and lust to be adultery.
Caleb
Dad, what about
all the good l've done?
Caleb's Dad
Son, saving someone from a fire
does not make you right with God.
You've broken his commandments.
And one day, you'll answer to him for that.
POWERFUL !!!!
Today's Gospel: Matthew 5:17-19 (The Law of The Prophets)
"Think not that I have come to abolish the law and the prophets; I have come not to abolish them but to fulfill them. For truly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, not an iota, not a dot, will pass from the law until all is accomplished. Whoever then relaxes one of the least of these commandments and teaches men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but he who does them and teaches them shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven."
Questions To Ponder Today:
-Do you see God's law as negative or positive?
-Has the Ten Commandments helped guide your life?
-Reverence? Do you have reverence for His laws?
-Have you ever really read the ten commandments?
(Prepare for a confession, using the commandments,
as your guide, reviewing all aspects of each one.)
Remember God is the Almighty God of the Universe.
He deserves our love, respect and reverence towards Him.

Remember - Always Forgive
Remember This - Always Forgive
©2011 James Dacey, Jr. SFO
Hello Everyone,
Isn't this a wake up call to all those who owe others; and at the same time you are trying to collect from those who owe you. This very selfish unforgiving servant couldn't take his eyes off those who owed him. Yet he owed much to the king, but the king showed him tremendous pity and mercy, and so forgave him of his all his debt. Why then did this servant who just received a blessing go out and make a huge problem out of something owed to Him? It makes no sense. This unforgiving servant even had his fellow servant thrown in prison, that was way too harsh. This very mean, unforgiving, selfish servant got what he deserved when the king found out. Now this parable isn't only about the forgiveness of monetary debt, it's more like the forgiveness of emotional debt, when others do wrong to us. How can we beg our Lord for forgiveness, when we ourselves in our own selfishness find it hard to forgive others?
I won't ever say that this is easy. I know first hand what it means to be so angry at someone, that forgiveness is something you would never consider. Especially when that anger is directed towards people who interfere with your own personal family life. There is something very sensitive about that, but with all that said; know that I said it is very difficult, not impossible. Sometimes to best way to begin to take the first steps, towards those you deem unworthy of forgiveness, is to begin by praying for them. Yes another difficult, but not impossible task. But I have found that if you can talk to God in prayer about them, it is so much easier to actually forgive them. God only knows the reason why people do what they do. Only God can judge them, even though we already did, it really needs to be left in God's hands. It is our responsibility to pray for them and forgive them, and sincerely from the heart.
Let keep in mind a few things. God always forgives us, no matter how many times we offend Him, yell at Him, curse Him or hurt others, or sin. The forgiveness we receive, at minimum should be the forgiveness we give to others. It is through the same compassion and understanding that God gives us; that we need to forgive others. It is very helpful to that person you hate to be kind to; while you forgive them and release them from the your hold, you to are released. You do know that when you hold someone else, you are also holding yourself.
Today's Gospel: Matthew 18:21-35
(The Parable of the Unforgiving Servant)
"Then Peter came up and said to him, "Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? As many as seven times?" Jesus said to him, "I do not say to you seven times, but seventy times seven. "Therefore the kingdom of heaven may be compared to a king who wished to settle accounts with his servants. When he began the reckoning, one was brought to him who owed him ten thousand talents; and as he could not pay, his lord ordered him to be sold, with his wife and children and all that he had, and payment to be made. So the servant fell on his knees, imploring him, `Lord, have patience with me, and I will pay you everything.' And out of pity for him the lord of that servant released him and forgave him the debt. But that same servant, as he went out, came upon one of his fellow servants who owed him a hundred denarii; and seizing him by the throat he said, `Pay what you owe.' So his fellow servant fell down and besought him, `Have patience with me, and I will pay you.' He refused and went and put him in prison till he should pay the debt. When his fellow servants saw what had taken place, they were greatly distressed, and they went and reported to their lord all that had taken place. Then his lord summoned him and said to him, `You wicked servant! I forgave you all that debt because you besought me; and should not you have had mercy on your fellow servant, as I had mercy on you?' And in anger his lord delivered him to the jailers, till he should pay all his debt. So also my heavenly Father will do to every one of you, if you do not forgive your brother from your heart."
Questions To Ponder Today:
-What does this scripture tell about how to treat others?
-Have you ever treated someone like this, who owed you?
-Who owes who what? Are you understanding or are you mean?
-Can you seriously forgive, the unforgivable?
(Today make an attempt to forgive someone you can't.)
If you have a challenge with this, keep praying and trying.

Jesus Has Set Us Free
Jesus Has Set Us Free
©2011 James Dacey, Jr. SFO
Hello Everyone,
Wouldn't we all love to stop sinning? Of cause, is it possible? Of cause, at least it is possible to do all we can to try to stop. If we make no effort to try, and we really don't try; well then how in the world will we be able to at least have less sin in our lives? There is only one person I know who shares this thought the best, and his name is Fr. Larry Richards. Today I will share this story, one that Fr Richards share in many talks. I think his words and the way he tells the story will help so many of us get a better handle on our sins.
"You know C.S. Lewis was a great writer and he wasn't Catholic he was an Episcopalian. He wrote a book called “The Great Divorce.” I love one of the stories in The Great Divorce because in the story is a man who is in Purgatory. His whole theology of Purgatory is different than ours. Anyway he is dead and he is in Purgatory because of this demon of lust he has had his whole life. This little demon of lust, this is true, is this little demon and it sits on his shoulder. This demon has a chain around this man’s neck and he pulls it and makes this man do all this horrible things. And the man hates it and he hates himself. He is always crying out to God, “God you have got to help me. You have got to help me get rid of the demon of lust.” So anyway God sends an angel to the man. The angel looks at him and says, “What can I do for you?” And the man says, “It is this demon of lust that makes me do all these horrible things. I can’t stand it. I am so ashamed. It makes me again and again do these horrible things.” The angel looks at him and says, “May I kill it?” “Oh I don’t know if you want to kill it. Maybe you could wound it a little bit. You know, take its legs and break it or something.” And the angel looked at him and said, “May I kill it?” “Oh it is not very politically correct to kill things. I don’t know if you really want to kill it. I don’t know about killing it.” And the angel said, “May I kill it?” Finally the man said, “Yes, yes, yes you can kill it.” And the angel reaches out and he takes the demon of lust and he crushes it and he kills it. And this demon is transformed into a beautiful white stallion. And the man jumps on the stallion and the stallion takes him home to heaven, finally. God has sent all of us angels. We have a guardian angel every one of us. And the sin we deal with us in our life, the primary purpose of your guardian angel is to get you to heaven. The guardian angel looks at you almost every day and says, “May I kill the sin in your life?” What do you say? Well I don’t know. I kind of like my sin. I don’t know, maybe if it didn't control me and I controlled it. No, no, no. The only way to deal with sin in your life is to kill it. So will you give God permission in your life today to kill those sins in your life?" Fr. Larry Richards
I get so exciting hearing such incredible stories of hope and possibility. Nothing is impossible with God. We can defeat our sins, and we can do everything possible to live a life that is as pure as we possibly can. In today's gospel we can see how Jesus is talking to His people in the town where everyone knows Him since He was a child; and they gave Him no respect. Sometimes it's best when we have others from out of town come and share Jesus. This allows others to come inside and share Jesus with those we love, so we can go elsewhere to spread His love. Either way, let us do all we can to spread His joy and love with everyone. This is why I believe fellowship with strangers around the world works so well.
Today's Gospel: Luke 4:24-30
(The Rejection of Jesus at Nazareth)
"And he said, "Truly, I say to you, no prophet is acceptable in his own country. But in truth, I tell you, there were many widows in Israel in the days of Elijah, when the heaven was shut up three years and six months, when there came a great famine over all the land; and Elijah was sent to none of them but only to Zarephath, in the land of Sidon, to a woman who was a widow. And there were many lepers in Israel in the time of the prophet Elisha; and none of them was cleansed, but only Naaman the Syrian." When they heard this, all in the synagogue were filled with wrath. And they rose up and put him out of the city, and led him to the brow of the hill on which their city was built, that they might throw him down headlong. But passing through the midst of them he went away."
Questions To Ponder Today:
-Wouldn't we prefer to live our lives free of sin?
-How can we change what we say and do each day?
-Does the freedom Jesus give us, really free us?
-What is my earthly weakness? How can I stop?
-Do you fear being separated from God forever?
(Ponder a bit and even write down your top 3 weaknesses.)
Ask Jesus to help you rid your life of these.

Life Giving - Living Water
Life Giving - Living Water
©2011 James Dacey, Jr. SFO
Hello Everyone,
Living water? What does that mean? Does this water have a life of its own? Does this water do whatever it wants? Living water did anyone ever think to reflect on what those two words together really mean? Since Jesus is the only one who can bring us this water, this water has a very special quality; is it eternal, and it's the only water that fully quenches our thirst, where you will never be thirsty again. Just like the woman at the well asked, "where do you get that living water?" And Jesus spoke with this woman, an adulteress, a public sinner; no matter, Jesus came to heal those in need of a physician. He come not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance. I can only imagine this scene, Jesus has this way of just capturing our hearts, and soul, literally captivating us. There was and still is, no greater speaker in this world than Jesus. Being Jesus is God's Son and the Holy Trinity is the Father, Son and Holy Spirit and the three are one; His voice only speaks with such extraordinary influence and love, straight from the heart of God.
The fountain of life promises us eternal life. And it is through Jesus, that we have the chance to drink this living water. Never pass up a chance to be with Jesus, or to receive something from Jesus. Our Lord only seeks to save us, everything and anything He gives to us helps us grow closer to Him. It has been said by St. Hippolytus, priest and martyr ,“This is the water of the Spirit: It refreshes paradise, enriches the earth, gives life to living things. It is the water of Christ’s baptism; it is our life. If you go with faith to this renewing fountain, you renounce Satan your enemy and confess Christ your God. You cease to be a slave and become an adopted son; you come forth radiant as the sun and brilliant with justice; you come forth a son of God and fellow-heir with Christ.” Wow, now that is really a wonderful summary of the water of the Spirit.
What is it that is so special about water? Why would Jesus place so much emphasis on water? In our world water plays a significant role in sustaining life, for without water, life wouldn't exist. This is why in planetary space exploration, the first order of business is always; finding water either on the planet surface or within the ground. Because chances are, if you find water, you will find life. In the bible, scripture, speaking of water represents many things; baptism, cleansing of sin in many ways, and so much more. When I did my research, I found water to be mentioned 527 times in the old testament and 90 times in the new testament; know that those figures all depend on the translation you use. It's still interesting to see that 617 times water was mentioned.
"All streams flow into the sea, yet the sea is never full. To the place the streams come from, there they return again." Ecclesiastes 1:7
"LORD, you are the hope of Israel; all who forsake you will be put to shame. Those who turn away from you will be written in the dust because they have forsaken the LORD, the spring of living water." Jeremiah 17:13
"Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, “Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them." John 7:37-38
Other Insightful Quotes:
"Water is also one of the four elements, the most beautiful of God's creations. It is both wet and cold, heavy, and with a tendency to descend, and flows with great readiness. It is this the Holy Scripture has in view when it says, "And the darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters." Water, then, is the most beautiful element and rich in usefulness, and purifies from all filth, and not only from the filth of the body but from that of the soul, if it should have received the grace of the Spirit." John of Damascus 679-749AD
"Water, like religion and ideology, has the power to move millions of people. Since the very birth of human civilization, people have moved to settle close to it. People move when there is too little of it. People move when there is too much of it. People journey down it. People write, sing and dance about it. People fight over it. And all people, everywhere and every day, need it." Mikhail Gorbachev 2001
Today's Gospel: John 4:5-42
(Jesus and The Woman of Samaria)
"So he came to a city of Samaria, called Sychar, near the field that Jacob gave to his son Joseph. Jacob's well was there, and so Jesus, wearied as he was with his journey, sat down beside the well. It was about the sixth hour. There came a woman of Samaria to draw water. Jesus said to her, "Give me a drink." For his disciples had gone away into the city to buy food. The Samaritan woman said to him, "How is it that you, a Jew, ask a drink of me, a woman of Samaria?" For Jews have no dealings with Samaritans. Jesus answered her, "If you knew the gift of God, and who it is that is saying to you, `Give me a drink,' you would have asked him, and he would have given you living water." The woman said to him, "Sir, you have nothing to draw with, and the well is deep; where do you get that living water? Are you greater than our father Jacob, who gave us the well, and drank from it himself, and his sons, and his cattle?" Jesus said to her, "Every one who drinks of this water will thirst again, but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst; the water that I shall give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life." The woman said to him, "Sir, give me this water, that I may not thirst, nor come here to draw." Jesus said to her, "Go, call your husband, and come here." The woman answered him, "I have no husband." Jesus said to her, "You are right in saying, `I have no husband'; for you have had five husbands, and he whom you now have is not your husband; this you said truly." The woman said to him, "Sir, I perceive that you are a prophet. Our fathers worshiped on this mountain; and you say that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship." Jesus said to her, "Woman, believe me, the hour is coming when neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem will you worship the Father. You worship what you do not know; we worship what we know, for salvation is from the Jews. But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for such the Father seeks to worship him. God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth." The woman said to him, "I know that Messiah is coming (he who is called Christ); when he comes, he will show us all things." Jesus said to her, "I who speak to you am he." Just then his disciples came. They marveled that he was talking with a woman, but none said, "What do you wish?" or, "Why are you talking with her?" So the woman left her water jar, and went away into the city, and said to the people,"Come, see a man who told me all that I ever did. Can this be the Christ?"They went out of the city and were coming to him. Meanwhile the disciples besought him, saying, "Rabbi, eat." But he said to them, "I have food to eat of which you do not know." So the disciples said to one another, "Has any one brought him food?" Jesus said to them, "My food is to do the will of him who sent me, and to accomplish his work. Do you not say,`There are yet four months, then comes the harvest'? I tell you, lift up your eyes, and see how the fields are already white for harvest. He who reaps receives wages, and gathers fruit for eternal life, so that sower and reaper may rejoice together. For here the saying holds true,`One sows and another reaps.' I sent you to reap that for which you did not labor; others have labored, and you have entered into their labor." Many Samaritans from that city believed in him because of the woman's testimony, "He told me all that I ever did." So when the Samaritans came to him, they asked him to stay with them; and he stayed there two days. And many more believed because of his word."
Questions To Ponder Today:
-Would you still give to someone who was mean to you?
-Is the Holy Spirit inside of us thirsting more for Jesus?
-Does your life truly revolve around thoughts of the Savior?
-Why was Jesus even speaking to this woman at the well?
-Why would pride and selfishness keep us from receiving Jesus?
(Let's share Jesus with someone..
anyone even those who know Him.)
The key is, keeping Jesus as the center topic to all
your conversations. He alone dominates your thoughts.

Prodigal - Loved and Forgiven
Prodigal - Loved and Forgiven
©2011 James Dacey, Jr. SFO
Hello Everyone,
"How am l supposed to show love to somebody over and over and over..who constantly rejects me?" Caleb in the movie "Fireproof" That line in that movie, fit in perfectly with today's gospel. Let us not take for granted the love that our parents and family have for us. This parable goes beyond the sentences of a story; we can see how God's love for us goes far beyond anything stupid we might do. I'm not saying be rude, unholy and hateful, and "poof" God puts rings and robes on you; but I am saying that after you do that, and you repent, God's arms are wide open. In this parable this young man, abandoned his family, seeking pleasure and freedom, so he thought. The reality for him was that he became a prison of his own selfishness; separated from the love of his family by his choice, only to literally be eating with the pigs. The reality hit this young man and he woke up.
Was this prodigal son, homesick, or sick of home? One may never know, but many do know teenagers and young adults, who think they know everything, and from that, they start to be bold in their own immaturity. Adulthood and maturity have nothing to do with age, rather it comes from experience, wisdom, love and the nurturing of a loving family. A family that can't be replaced by stuff or others. This prodigal son, had only one real dad, and one real family. No riches or travels or wild life was going to replace, that place in his heart that is his family resided in. I have done many stupid things in my life, I will be the first to admit it. I won't get into all the grueling details, because I don't want to promote them. Rather I will say this, your wake up call in life does come, when you are at your lowest point; and usually it's when your flesh and blood family aren't anywhere nearby, because you don't want them nearby. Prodigal son or daughter, I say, go home, there are open arms, rings, robes and a fatted calf awaiting you. Nobody can love you, like your family does.
I pray that whoever is on this path of separation from their family, or they are thinking about it. Stop. And consider this parable in and of itself, as a chance for you to realize how much love is in the arms of those who love you, especially your mom and dad. Think of it like this, I read it said that in our repentant hearts of "coming home" back to the Father, God "kisses the past into forgetfulness." In this parable, the union back with his father was beyond anything he could have possibly expected. The son merely thought, he could blend in with his fathers servants so he can at least eat better. But the love of his father far exceeded anything he could have possibly imagined. There is so much jam packed in today's parable, I think I can write a book about it. I just might.
Today's Gospel: Luke 15:1-3, 11-32
(The Parable of the Prodigal Son)
"Now the tax collectors and sinners were all drawing near to hear him. And the Pharisees and the scribes murmured, saying, "This man receives sinners and eats with them." So he told them this parable. And he said, "There was a man who had two sons; and the younger of them said to his father, `Father, give me the share of property that falls to me.' And he divided his living between them. Not many days later, the younger son gathered all he had and took his journey into a far country, and there he squandered his property in loose living. And when he had spent everything, a great famine arose in that country, and he began to be in want. So he went and joined himself to one of the citizens of that country, who sent him into his fields to feed swine. And he would gladly have fed on the pods that the swine ate; and no one gave him anything. But when he came to himself he said, `How many of my father's hired servants have bread enough and to spare, but I perish here with hunger! I will arise and go to my father, and I will say to him, "Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you; I am no longer worthy to be called your son; treat me as one of your hired servants."' And he arose and came to his father. But while he was yet at a distance, his father saw him and had compassion, and ran and embraced him and kissed him. And the son said to him, `Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you; I am no longer worthy to be called your son.' But the father said to his servants,`Bring quickly the best robe, and put it on him; and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet; and bring the fatted calf and kill it, and let us eat and make merry; for this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found.' And they began to make merry."Now his elder son was in the field; and as he came and drew near to the house, he heard music and dancing. And he called one of the servants and asked what this meant. And he said to him, `Your brother has come, and your father has killed the fatted calf, because he has received him safe and sound.' But he was angry and refused to go in. His father came out and entreated him, but he answered his father, `Lo, these many years I have served you, and I never disobeyed your command; yet you never gave me a kid, that I might make merry with my friends. But when this son of yours came, who has devoured your living with harlots, you killed for him the fatted calf!' And he said to him, `Son, you are always with me, and all that is mine is yours. It was fitting to make merry and be glad, for this your brother was dead, and is alive; he was lost, and is found.'"
Questions To Ponder Today:
-Have you ever felt like leaving the way this son left?
-How would you feel is your child did this to you?
-The sons repentant heart was touching...why?
-Can we love our children like this father did?
-Did this story personal move you in your heart?
(Today, tell all your children how much you love them.)
If you have no children, tell your parents, grandparents.
Express love today in words, eye to eye.

Hello Everyone,
Today is a wonderful day of celebration. Mary was chosen, and she said Yes. Yes to God's will in her life, and Yes for the world to be saved; through the sacrifice of her own life, allowing God to use her as the earthly vessel Jesus shall come into this world. A new era has begun. The one favored by God was chosen on this day, but she was scared (actually troubled). But after a brief explanation, Mary no longer questioned anything that was about to happen; instead she fully trusted and embraced God's will, never once thinking about herself, or her safety. It's been said that Mary eagerly, willingly surrendered to God's will. What an absolutely blessed example for us to follow. For the grace she was given allowed her to be willing and obedient at God's request.
She is truly the most blessed Mother and Queen for us to love. Mary's open readily response to fulfill God's request, needs to really be an example we look at and reflect upon often. Mary could have easily been stoned to death, separated and discarded by Joseph in shame, to be never respected by anyone ever again should she have even lived. Mary's slightest tiny thought of fear when she was troubled by the news, was easily washed away knowing she was chosen and favored by God to bring His Son into the world. It's a mystery that is at times unexplainable, and that one can't fully figure out the depths of its truest meaning. So today let us celebrate Mar'sy complete trust in God, as she begins her life's purpose of bringing Jesus into the world.
Reflections from The Catechism of The Catholic Church:
64. "Through the prophets, God forms his people in the hope of salvation, in the expectation of a new and everlasting Covenant intended for all, to be written on their hearts. The prophets proclaim a radical redemption of the People of God, purification from all their infidelities, a salvation which will include all the nations. Above all, the poor and humble of the Lord will bear this hope. Such holy women as Sarah, Rebeca, Rachel, Miriam, Deborah, Hannah, Judith and Esther kept alive the hope of Israel's salvation. The purest figure among them is Mary."
492. "The 'splendor of an entirely unique holiness' by which Mary is 'enriched from the first instant of her conception' comes wholly from Christ: she is 'redeemed, in a more exalted fashion, by reason of the merits of her Son'. The Father blessed Mary more than any other created person 'in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places' and chose her 'in Christ before the foundation of the world, to be holy and blameless before him in love'."
504. "Jesus is conceived by the Holy Spirit in the Virgin Mary's womb because he is the New Adam, who inaugurates the new creation: 'The first man was from the earth, a man of dust; the second man is from heaven.' From his conception, Christ's humanity is filled with the Holy Spirit, for God 'gives him the Spirit without measure.' From 'his fullness' as the head of redeemed humanity 'we have all received, grace upon grace."
507. "At once virgin and mother, Mary is the symbol and the most perfect realization of the Church: 'the Church indeed. . . by receiving the word of God in faith becomes herself a mother. By preaching and Baptism she brings forth sons, who are conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of God, to a new and immortal life. She herself is a virgin, who keeps in its entirety and purity the faith she pledged to her spouse."
Today's Gospel: Luke 1:26-38 (The Birth of Jesus Foretold)
"In the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth, to a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin's name was Mary. And he came to her and said, "Hail, O favored one, the Lord is with you!" But she was greatly troubled at the saying, and considered in her mind what sort of greeting this might be. And the angel said to her, "Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus. He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Most High; and the Lord God will give to him the throne of his father David, and he will reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there will be no end." And Mary said to the angel, "How shall this be, since I have no husband?" And the angel said to her, "The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; therefore the child to be born will be called holy, the Son of God. And behold, your kinswoman Elizabeth in her old age has also conceived a son; and this is the sixth month with her who was called barren. For with God nothing will be impossible." And Mary said, "Behold, I am the Handmaid of the Lord; let it be to me according to your word." And the angel departed from her."

Separated By A Great Chasm
Separated By A Great Chasm
©2011 James Dacey, Jr. SFO
Hello Everyone,
Is it just me, or is there something in this story that just isn't right. It's like I want to say to the rich man, "Hello, don't you get it." that's the first thought I get with this one verse. Tell me if it's just me. It's verse 24, "And he called out, `Father Abraham, have mercy upon me, and send Lazarus to dip the end of his finger in water and cool my tongue; for I am in anguish in this flame." Do you see what I mean. Here this rich guy is in the pit of hell right in the flames, and he is making a request, looking for a servant to serve him there, is this crazy or what. I think so many people in our world are so entangled and imprisoned by power, ego, pride and stuff; that they totally miss it when it comes to eternal reality. In this scripture Lazarus didn't only represent the poor, but pretty anyone who couldn't anything for themselves, he must have been a cripple. Scripture says, dogs were licking his wounds, that's very sad, and I would guess very serious.
Not to be misunderstood, and not to sound pious; who would you rather be and why? Yes we know the end of the story making the choice obvious, but we also have our faith, so we didn't really need to know the whole story, to know how it would probably end. But honestly, who? and why? OK, since a blog don't have the instant ability for immediate two-way conversations, I'll answer it and share the Joy in scripture that gives the foundation of why. Ok, I'd rather be Lazarus. Not only because he ends up in Heaven, more so what scripture tells me. Just take a moment or two and reflect upon these scriptures:
"But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. God chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things—and the things that are not—to nullify the things that are, so that no one may boast before him." 1 Corinthians 1:27-29
"For we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, an eternal house in heaven, not built by human hands." 2 Corinthians 5:1
"But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, who, by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body." Philippians 3:20-21
In our own way and in our own situations, let us be the Lazarus' of the world. God loves all of us, but He especially loves those of us who suffer, and offer our thanksgiving and praises to Him in our suffering. Being humble without complaining or expecting anything. That is why today's challenge is intended to be a fun one, all about our love for others.
Today's Gospel: Luke 16:19-31 (The Rich Man and Lazarus)
"There was a rich man, who was clothed in purple and fine linen and who feasted sumptuously every day. And at his gate lay a poor man named Lazarus, full of sores, who desired to be fed with what fell from the rich man's table; moreover the dogs came and licked his sores. The poor man died and was carried by the angels to Abraham's bosom. The rich man also died and was buried; and in Hades, being in torment, he lifted up his eyes, and saw Abraham far off and Lazarus in his bosom. And he called out, `Father Abraham, have mercy upon me, and send Lazarus to dip the end of his finger in water and cool my tongue; for I am in anguish in this flame.' But Abraham said, `Son, remember that you in your lifetime received your good things, and Lazarus in like manner evil things; but now he is comforted here, and you are in anguish. And besides all this, between us and you a great chasm has been fixed, in order that those who would pass from here to you may not be able, and none may cross from there to us.' And he said, `Then I beg you, father, to send him to my father's house, for I have five brothers, so that he may warn them, lest they also come into this place of torment.' But Abraham said, `They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them.' And he said, `No, father Abraham; but if some one goes to them from the dead, they will repent.' He said to him, `If they do not hear Moses and the prophets, neither will they be convinced if some one should rise from the dead.'"
Questions To Ponder Today:
-When you are faced with trials, what do you do?
-Did you know that Heaven and Hell are eternally separated?
-Does your faith give you a freedom like no other in your life?
-While we are here isn't better to serve God first, then others?

You Will Drink Of My Cup
You Will Drink Of My Cup
©2011 James Dacey, Jr. SFO
Hello Everyone,
One day.. as long as we stay loyal and true to our Savior; we just might be put to the test with our faith. Some of us right now including my own family, are suffering a sort of living martyrdom for our Lord. Truly living the Christian life may require much from us. We may endure physical suffering, in the form of missing a limb, or even worse - cancer, or some other life threatening disease. We don't necessarily have to suffer in order to be Christians, but if we honestly drink of His cup, we will in someway suffer or offer up daily sacrifices.
Some of the suffering we may endure can include; like I said physical suffering, actual martyrdom (which is still common around the world). What about our daily sacrifices? our disappointments, our setbacks, struggles, and look at all the temptations each day. Satan does not want us to advance any closer to Jesus, nor does he want us singing Him praises. We must, in all that we do, hold strong to our faith and not back down. Let us not do this for any reward, instead Jesus is our reward; our relationship with Him, His love for us, His sacrifice that defeated death, the price He paid for all our sins. That is our reward.
I have said this many times, but I am serious about this. I believe my family is under spiritual attack in some way, or to some capacity. We have way too many major issues pointing a sword at our throat at the same time, and everyone of them in and of themselves is monumental. How do I handle it? I forge forward by not backing down. I never retreat. Like I have said so often, "I shall remain at my post." Meaning that sharing Jesus and our Blessed Mother shall always continue no matter what. A wood box might silence me, but as long as I keep writing; I will still be able to serve the Lord beyond the grave. If it be in God's will, we will all continue sharing and growing in His love and His word. We can't be like the mother of the sons of Zebedee and pretty much demand or request a "position"; God alone decides on our place in His Kingdom.
Today's Gospel: Matthew 20:17-28
(The 3rd Time Jesus Speaks of His Death / Request From a Mom)
"And as Jesus was going up to Jerusalem, he took the twelve disciples aside, and on the way he said to them, "Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem; and the Son of man will be delivered to the chief priests and scribes, and they will condemn him to death, and deliver him to the Gentiles to be mocked and scourged and crucified, and he will be raised on the third day." Then the mother of the sons of Zebedee came up to him, with her sons, and kneeling before him she asked him for something. And he said to her, "What do you want?" She said to him, "Command that these two sons of mine may sit, one at your right hand and one at your left, in your kingdom." But Jesus answered, "You do not know what you are asking. Are you able to drink the cup that I am to drink?" They said to him, "We are able." He said to them, "You will drink my cup, but to sit at my right hand and at my left is not mine to grant, but it is for those for whom it has been prepared by my Father." And when the ten heard it, they were indignant at the two brothers. But Jesus called them to him and said, "You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their great men exercise authority over them. It shall not be so among you; but whoever would be great among you must be your servant, and whoever would be first among you must be your slave; even as the Son of man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many."
Questions To Ponder Today:
-What is so disgusting about selfish ambition?
-How can anyone think they are worthy to sit on God's throne?
-Do you realize taking our Lord's cup, means we will suffer?
-Would you seriously lay down your life for your Lord?
(Consider paying for the person in front of you on the food line,
No not 3 baskets of food, but that small bag they are scrounging
coins to be able to pay for it. Or on a bridge, pay for the car behind you.
That is a cool one, I have done that one a lot.)

True Humility Frees Us
True Humility Frees Us
©2011 James Dacey, Jr. SFO
Hello Everyone,
Being humble does not make us weak, it absolutely does not make us less effective spiritually; and by no means does it make it easy to push us around. Actually humility gives us a wonderful chance to stop thinking about ourselves. Without humility we seek honor, or praise. But with humility we do things for others without our name stamped all over it. And you do know that a humble person will learn and listen more openly to our Lord. Humble people are very teachable. Prideful people who tend to know so much about everything, aren't usually open to listen and learn. We need to allow our Lord in our lives, so that we can listen and learn by His example and His love.
It's humility that sometimes helps stop a war. It's humility that helps prevent a fight, and helps those involved look for a kinder way to settle things. It's humility in many ways that help support so many of the organizations that help the homeless and those out of work. Humility seeks no reward. It is by God's love in our hearts that we seek out ways to love others without reward. That dollar, or five dollars, or ten or twenty, you gave to the Cancer Society on your way out of Wal-Mart the other day, wasn't given with any expectation of recognition. You did that in the hopes that in some way you did help the cause, that helps others. Wasn't it through humility, that Jesus forgave those who murdered Him, publicly. Jesus lived a life that has taught us, we don't need to be some king, or wealthy person in order to find God, locate His whereabouts. We can be of the lowliest, barely making ends meet, poorer then poor person; and God will embrace us and accept us, as we are.
Let us reflect on a couple of scriptures:
"Therefore, whoever takes the lowly position of this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven." Matthew 18:4
"Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others." Philippians 2:3-4
"In the same way, you who are younger, submit yourselves to your elders. All of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because, “God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble.” Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you." 1 Peter 5:5-7
"Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace." Ephesians 4:2-3
Today's Gospel: Matthew 23:1-12
(Jesus Denounces The Scribes and Pharisees)
"Then said Jesus to the crowds and to his disciples, "The scribes and the Pharisees sit on Moses' seat; so practice and observe whatever they tell you, but not what they do; for they preach, but do not practice. They bind heavy burdens, hard to bear, and lay them on men's shoulders; but they themselves will not move them with their finger. They do all their deeds to be seen by men; for they make their phylacteries broad and their fringes long, and they love the place of honor at feasts and the best seats in the synagogues, and salutations in the market places, and being called rabbi by men. But you are not to be called rabbi, for you have one teacher, and you are all brethren. And call no man your father on earth, for you have one Father, who is in heaven. Neither be called masters, for you have one master, the Christ. He who is greatest among you shall be your servant; whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted."
Questions To Ponder Today:
-Is Christ-Like humility a real part of who you are?
-Does humility weaken who we are in Jesus?
-If pleasing God is important, shouldn't we be humble?
-What kind of freedom is found in humility?
(Today humble yourself and anonymously

Listen - God Alone Judges
Listen - God Alone Judges
©2011 James Dacey, Jr. SFO
Hello Everyone,
As Catholics we do talk about this a lot, and I know many will agree; sometimes our judgment is correct and necessary. But I will also say that I don't agree completely with that. Most of the time we allow our emotions to take over, and we immediately jump on either the defensive or we want to look good by making others look bad. In the end God knows our hearts, He knows what drives us, behind the scenes. Don't you ever wonder, what is the fuel that creates judgment for the most part? For me this can be a very complex answer, or it can be as simple as being a bad habit that connects idleness that creates time for chatter; and chatter that makes everyone around those talking look better. Sometimes it's best to only be concerned with your own self and family, and stop comparing or complaining about anyone else.
Jesus loves all of us, bad, good, or indifferent. He loves us unconditionally hoping that those who turn against Him, turn back. Isn't it funny how sometimes those who are not Godly people tend to be the ones who create the turmoil in our lives? Maybe I observe those around me too much, I don't know. Well when that happens, anger and judgment become an easy slide. Sadly I see how easy the two connect. We must pray for God's grace to help us through these difficult times. A strong solid spiritual life is what helps stabilize us, keep us on track, and keeps anger, judgment and cruel words from being said. I heard a quote once that said, "God will Judge my enemies, and I will help setup the meeting." That may sound funny, but the reality is that we need to be doing the opposite. When I say opposite, is instead of judging them in conversation hoping for God's wrath to snap on them; we should be praying for their souls to be saved before they have to stand before God.
Is it possible to love someone we want to speak evil of? We need to know that through the power of the Holy Spirit; we are given the grace we need to humble ourselves and forgive, rather than attack. God wants us to want what He wants for others, peace and forgiveness and for all of us to be saved. Through the cross, Jesus defeated death, and paid the price for all our sins. Embrace this cross, and remain humble before God, and kind before those you wish to speak ill of. We must overcome evil with, good solid wonderful Godly love. No matter what we may want to do, this is what we need to do. Simply allow God to guide your heart.
Today's Gospel: Luke 6:36-38 (Do Not Judge Others)
"Be merciful, even as your Father is merciful. "Judge not, and you will not be judged; condemn not, and you will not be condemned; forgive, and you will be forgiven; give, and it will be given to you; good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For the measure you give will be the measure you get back."
Questions To Ponder Today:
-Do you pray for your enemies, or do you curse them?
-Is your own boiling point known to you?
-Can you stop or even hide your anger at all?
-Have you ever experienced the cleansing of confession?
-Do you understand the true love of those who hate you?
(If you have the courage today, send someone you know
who hates you, a quick note simply saying:)
"Thinking of you in my prayers today."

Rise and Have No Fear
Rise and Have No Fear
©2011 James Dacey, Jr. SFO
Hello Everyone,
What an absolutely incredibly breath-taking glimpse, the disciples must have had; seeing Jesus is in His Transfigured state. Jesus knew well that Calvary was ahead, the cross he would bear for us; He knew He had to fulfill God's will and die for us. Yet in this magnificent display of power, Jesus exposed His true self. And to be with the old testament leaders, was probably beyond any power the apostles could have ever imagined: Moses was one of God's most trusted men who He shared His law on Mount Sinai with, and Elijah was one of God's greatest prophets. And to think Peter, James and John, three of our Lord's most beloved Apostles were present to witness such an incredible event. So how can we translate this event into a Lenten Reflection?
Jesus has given us the chance, through the eyes of His apostles to see Him in all His glory before us. Giving us the confidence and encouragement many of us need to continue following Him. Jesus never has to prove to anyone who He is, or that indeed He is God's Son. I see this display of power as a sort of "smile" come down from Heaven upon us. Did that make sense? It's like an approval smile, full of love. Anyone who don't personally know our Lord, or they don't believe to begin with, won't get anything out of this scripture. But if you are a believer and you know, that you know who Jesus is, then you see that smile from Heaven; kinda of solidifying our bond to Him. Did any of that make sense? Please tell me if I go to far off into a loop.
So today in celebration of this Magnificent sight, like the Apostles let us celebrate and honor many Jesus. While we duly note Moses' role and Elijah's role in the old testament leading up to Jesus. Let us be bold as we move forward in our faith, staying fully focused on Jesus. Just like Jesus said to the apostles, "Rise and have no fear." We to must do all we can to be bold in our faith. Do not be afraid !!! God is with us on this journey. We do not walk this walk alone, by no means. Keep His word, the word, close to your heart; learn scripture, get comfortable with having your nose in your bible frequently. Learn the stories, old and new testament, get familiar with names, places, events. If you can do this with your spouse, your kids, close sisters and brothers in the Lord, then do it. And to the best of your ability I once again encourage a transformation of your life, fully focusing on Jesus 24/7/365. Pray through this Lenten Season for that burning desire inside your heart.
Today's Gospel: Matthew 17:1-9 (The Transfiguration)
"And after six days Jesus took with him Peter and James and John his brother, and led them up a high mountain apart. And he was transfigured before them, and his face shone like the sun, and his garments became white as light. And behold, there appeared to them Moses and Elijah, talking with him. And Peter said to Jesus, "Lord, it is well that we are here; if you wish, I will make three booths here, one for you and one for Moses and one for Elijah." He was still speaking, when lo, a bright cloud overshadowed them, and a voice from the cloud said, "This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased; listen to him." When the disciples heard this, they fell on their faces, and were filled with awe. But Jesus came and touched them, saying, "Rise, and have no fear." And when they lifted up their eyes, they saw no one but Jesus only. And as they were coming down the mountain, Jesus commanded them, "Tell no one the vision, until the Son of man is raised from the dead."
Questions To Ponder Today:
-Has Lent been a good experience for you so far?
-What is one of your biggest goals this Lenten Season?
-Are you seeking God's presence in your life?
-Have you yet been to confession during Lent?
-Is your Spirit Alive and on Fire for Him?

Joseph - A Righteous Man
©2011 James Dacey, Jr. SFO
Hello Everyone,
There was a very righteous man who walked the earth, and his name was Joseph. He not only believed in God with all his heart, but he followed God's will; and protected and took care of our Blessed Mother and baby Jesus. And biblically that was one of the most dangerous times for them to be betrayed. (Pregnancy, Herod looking for baby, shame of possible divorce) Joseph made certain of their safety. What are some of the qualities we can see that shine through Joseph; that we not only as father's and husband's, but also as wives and mother's see. Yes he is a true man of honor before the Lord, but another way we can look at this is; he is a true child of God, honoring the Father in the directions the Spirit was sending him. We can all fit into that category.
Other incredible qualities of "A Righteous Man" Characteristics Joseph most likely possessed:
-One of the most righteous men who ever walked the earth; was Joseph husband of Mary foster dad to Jesus.
-A very special quality is this man, he will protect another persons character, especially his friends.
-Another truly wonderful aspect about this man, is that he won't speak of any bad qualities, of anyone.
-This man never takes advantage of another person in anyway; neither by money or because they're hurting.
-His word is his promise and he seriously keeps it, no matter what the cost even if he made a bad choice.
-He is a man who enjoys peace in his family life, quietness in his prayers and assurance of his eternity.
- All righteous men do walk upright, knowing what is right in the sight of God, and they so live by that.
-A true quality of this man, is that he speaks only of the best qualities of either friend or foe always.
-The reason he does not speak evil of others, is because he knows all our words are accountable to God.
Today's Gospel: Matthew 1:16,18-21,24
(Genealogy & The Birth of Jesus)
"Jacob was the father of Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom Jesus was born, who is called Christ. Now the birth of Jesus Christ took place in this way. When his mother Mary had been betrothed to Joseph, before they came together she was found to be with child of the Holy Spirit; and her husband Joseph, being a just man and unwilling to put her to shame, resolved to divorce her quietly. But as he considered this, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, "Joseph, son of David, do not fear to take Mary your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit; she will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins." When Joseph woke from sleep, he did as the angel of the Lord commanded him; he took his wife"
Questions To Ponder Today:
-How closer do you listen to how God nudges you?
-When do you find in your life that you don't need God?
-How faithful of a witness of Jesus are you?
-Have you fully put all your trust in Jesus in all things?
-Why didn't Joseph have any doubts in what was happening?
(Today, let us give our kids an extra warm loving hug.)
That can be done in person, on a phone, in a card.

No Anger At The Altar
No Anger At The Altar
©2011 James Dacey, Jr. SFO
Hello Everyone,
We all know, or at least we should know; that sin doesn't just happen. First it gets into our hearts and then it grows, and as it grows its demands are sometimes beyond our own ability to stop or manage them. We must learn how to control, that which we know we have a challenge controlling. Through God's grace and lots and lots of prayer we can manager anger, and hatred and our responses to such. I am speaking from first hand experience, anger can be very destructive, if you allow it. We must be ahead of the curve, and know how we will handle anger. God knows us better then we know ourselves, but we know our limits; that is, when the roof will be blown off. You know what I mean, we know when certain buttons are pushed.
First hand, let me tell you how I deal with anger, rightful, serious anger that is justified. Didn't Jesus get angry when His Father's house was being used as a market place where they cheated customers? His anger was justified by their lack of respect for God's house. So, to the point without all my crazy details. I see my anger as fully justified, yet I will not "react" upon it. And some who know our situation may say, "Why not, this situation deserves the full wrath of a mother and father?" I disagree. When a ship is sinking and those you love refuse to get off, and others convince them to stay on; what do you do? Unfortunately, you get all those who know getting off the sinking ship; is the first order of business to save every one, and you pray for the stubborn ones who think they have made good choices, as you watch them sink under the ocean. I don't know how else to explain it.
So I still never told you how I handle justified anger. Simple, I pray, and I pray and I pray and at times I cry. Our Lord knows my heart. I have been told by some, that this form of hurt is like being a living martyr. If that be true, then so be it. I refuse to react to the stupidity of the worldly view of things around us. God's grace is thee single best tool we have at our disposal, to help us through; so that the anger does not dominate our lives. Prayer, keep praying and trusting.
Today's Gospel: Matthew 5:20-26 (Concerning Anger)
"For I tell you, unless your righteousness exceeds that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. "You have heard that it was said to the men of old, `You shall not kill; and whoever kills shall be liable to judgment.' But I say to you that every one who is angry with his brother shall be liable to judgment; whoever insults his brother shall be liable to the council, and whoever says, `You fool!' shall be liable to the hell of fire. So if you are offering your gift at the altar, and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there before the altar and go; first be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift. Make friends quickly with your accuser, while you are going with him to court, lest your accuser hand you over to the judge, and the judge to the guard, and you be put in prison; truly, I say to you, you will never get out till you have paid the last penny."
Questions To Ponder Today:
-How much do you allow anger to dominate your life?
-Is it revenge or forgiveness your response, when you are angry?
-Do you respond to the emotion of the anger?
-What is it that angers you the most, day in and day out?
TODAY: Try to write a letter to someone you are angry at.
Don't send it, just write it.This will help release a lot of your
anger. It's a great exercise in all issues like this.
Especially high intense emotional ones.

Humble Yourself Before Him
Humble Yourself Before Him
©2011 James Dacey, Jr. SFO
Hello Everyone,
Now is the time that we all need to be bold in our faith. Boldly with reverence ask God for His blessings, His love, His forgiveness, His will in your life. Don't back down, don't chicken out rather kneel at God's feet with love and adoration for all He has done for you, tell Him that you love Him. And in that love He will indeed know what you need, what you seek, and why it is that you are knocking. God only wants the best for us, sometimes we don't know, certain requests will harm us, or worse destroy us. God's infinite wisdom will decide, what, where and when and if we will get what we want. In that wisdom, God will give us what He knows we need.
Spend time in God's word, and then shut up and be silent before God. LOL. I didn't mean that rudely by any means. I mean that in that I have been told that many times. As many of you know, I never shut up, I can talk you straight to sleep. God is not a magician, or a crowd pleaser. God is rather a merciful, caring and loving God. And think about this, does a disobedient child who asks for something always get what they want? No. Let us try to get our spiritual life in order, and in that God will guide our Spirit to desire that which He so wants us to desire. Here's what I pray:
Dear Lord, You know what I need better than I do, and you know when I need that thing. God please guide my life to want and love that which you know I need and so desire. No Lord, I do not know what it is, but I know you do. Please open my eyes and my heart at the time you see best for me to see it and know. I trust fully in whatever you so chose for me Lord. And I just know that I will love it with all my heart. Amen
Do you see how open we need to be. God's will isn't always easy to see or understand, but soon enough we will have a much better idea, in which direction God is sending us. We can't be spoiled children demanding what we want, what we seek and if I am knocking, you must answer my call. Be instead humble and quiet in His presence, in our silence before Him, God will speak to us.
Today's Gospel: Matthew 7:7-12 (Ask, Seek, Knock)
"Ask, and it will be given you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For every one who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. Or what man of you, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a serpent? If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him! So whatever you wish that men would do to you, do so to them; for this is the law and the prophets."
Questions To Ponder Today:
-Do you honestly think God hears your prayers?
-How much do you hunger for God?
-Are you one who is always asking things from God?
-Are you one who is always seeking God?
-When you have knocked, does God answer?
(Do not worry about anything. Trust Jesus instead.)

You Don't Ask God For ID
You Don't Ask God For ID
©2011 James Dacey, Jr. SFO
Hello Everyone,
How dare they ask for sign. It's not the right thing to do or say to Jesus, who is God's Son. This whole questioning of power reminds me of a Star Trek movie, ok, when you are done laughing at me, check this out. It was the movie, "The Final Frontier" when Kirk, McCoy, Spock and Sybok were on the planet just past the Great barrier where it was said that God is. This was some of their conversation:
THE GOD LIKE BEING
Who is this creature?
KIRK
Who am I? Don't you know? Aren't you God?
The smile leaves The God Like Being's face. Thunder rumbles
faintly in the distance, underscoring his displeasure.
SYBOK
He has his doubts...
THE GOD LIKE BEING
You doubt me?
KIRK
I seek proof.
McCOY
Jim, maybe you shouldn't ask him for his I.D.
It's that last line from McCoy that captures the thought, "You don't need God to prove to you, that He is God." Yes I am a whole lot different then the average person, when it comes to how I share a reflection in the gospel. Most of you are use to my strange ways by now.. LOL. I just love movie and tv scripts, and I seem to have a knack for a good memory of lines, so at times my brain remembers a bunch of lines shared deep into the show that pertain to something be shared in scripture, and so I share it with you. It's all for God's glory. So I think I'll keep this day simple and short. I hope that little bit of a smile I put on your face was refreshing. Tomorrow's St. Patrick's Day so hopefully it will be a much better day.
Today's Gospel: Luke 11:29-32 (The Sign of Jonah)
"When the crowds were increasing, he began to say, "This generation is an evil generation; it seeks a sign, but no sign shall be given to it except the sign of Jonah. For as Jonah became a sign to the men of Nin'eveh, so will the Son of man be to this generation. The queen of the South will arise at the judgment with the men of this generation and condemn them; for she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon, and behold, something greater than Solomon is here. The men of Nin'eveh will arise at the judgment with this generation and condemn it; for they repented at the preaching of Jonah, and behold, something greater than Jonah is here."
Questions To Ponder Today:
-What warning signs are you looking for?
-Would you have the courage to ask God for proof?
-Are you single-minded enough to clearly know who God is?
-Has God shown you the way, understanding and knowing Him?
(What have you given up for Lent? Make sure it's something you like.)

Pray Like This Everyday

Hello Everyone,
What a wonderfully perfect spectacular topic today is: The Lord's Prayer. From His heart to our ears, so that in our prayers it goes, from our heart to His ears. Jesus gave us this most precious prayer, as an example of what we should be praying about and to whom. Think about it: Jesus, is the author of this prayer, it's value goes without say. "Saint Augustine says that whenever we say the Our Father devoutly our venial sins are forgiven. The just man falls seven times a day, but in the Lord's Prayer he will find seven petitions which will both help him to avoid downfalls and will protect him from his spiritual enemies. Our Lord, knowing how weak and helpless we are, and how many difficulties we get into, made His Prayer short and easy to say, so that if we say it devoutly and often we can be sure that Almighty God will quickly come to our aid." The Secrets of the Rosary.
So what are the seven petitions of the Lord's Prayer? They are really so simple to remember by their own design. Check this out. The first three take us right to the Father (hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, and thy will be done). These are all for God's glory, strengthening us in faith, hope and charity.. Now check out the last four, they are all about our own expectations, it's pretty cool (Give us, Forgive us, Lead us, and Deliver us) wow, this prayer is so perfectly laid out. Those are our needs we are asking God the Father to accomplish for us.
How devoutly, and slowly and thoughtfully do we consider the words of the "Lord's Prayer" each time we pray it. This prayer along side of the Hail Mary, gives us so much Joy and blessing when praying the Rosary. Consider the Lord's prayer, as a prayer that is so perfect, that when we pray it; our hearts are full of love; and covered with contentment and Joy, that we need nothing else to make our life so complete. This is yet another very special part of the Joy that inside my heart. It is so complete, so perfect, that we get to speak directly to God, our Father, our Lord, as if He were standing right here as we pray the Lord's prayer. Don't we all want that kind of Joy? How about a Joy that keeps you smiling while the world frowns? How about a Joy that comforts you when you are feeling down? This Joy goes without say, how long it will last; for if "forever" was the measure, it goes way beyond eternity fast. Prayer is the key today, and the Lord's Prayer is our perfect prayer.
Here's a wonderful quote I found:
“Let us strive to make the Lord’s Prayer our model and pattern in all our approaches to God. Let it suggest to us the sort of things which we should pray for and pray against. Let it teach us the relative place and proportion which we should give to each subject in our prayers. The more we ponder and examine the Lord’s Prayer, the more instructive and suggestive shall we find it to be.” ~ J.C. Ryle
Today's Gospel: Matthew 6:7-15 (Concerning Prayer)
"And in praying do not heap up empty phrases as the Gentiles do; for they think that they will be heard for their many words. Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him. Pray then like this: Our Father who art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, On earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; And forgive us our debts, As we also have forgiven our debtors; And lead us not into temptation, But deliver us from evil. For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father also will forgive you; but if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses."
Questions To Ponder Today:
-Are you allowing God to transform your life?
-Have you ever really reflected on the Lord's Prayer?
-Do you speak with Jesus every single day?
-Is your love for others fair, and merciful?
-Do you tell God what you want, or do you ask for His will?
(Pray the Lord's Prayer slowly and directly to God.)

Judgment - We Were Warned
Judgment - We Were Warned
©2011 James Dacey, Jr. SFO
Hello Everyone,
Here's a little ditty. I have heard it said in "The Ten Commandments" the movie, and I like the way it sounds, tell me what you think. In today's gospel, using the Revised Standard Version it sounds like this, "..and he will separate them one from another". Now I do realize the old testament isn't referring to what Jesus is referring to, but how does this sound, "..separate the wheat from the chaff"; doesn't that sound so biblical and ancient, like even Egyptian. LOL. Ok, maybe I am just getting goofy with the weird things I like, I really can't ever contain all this Joy of Jesus I have inside my soul. But come on, that is simple saying as Jesus is also saying, "to separate was is useful and valuable from what is worthless." This is all about Judgment Day. That inevitable day we will all face. We really need to live our lives in a fearless way, meaning that our boldness in our faith keeps us in check, so that we can maneuver throughout our days. We really need to have more fear for the sin and judgment of it, than we have fear for death. Our last day here in earth is unknown, don't you want to be ready, and not miss the train?
Once we are there standing in judgment, there won't be a second chance, there won't be anything we can do or say to fix what we may have eternally forever chosen. Our bad choices in the sins we seemed to cling to day after day, if not repented, and really tried to stop, will be our fate. God knows our heart, our intentions, our struggles and our motives. Yes we will always be a sinner, but we must not ever feel defeated and just give in and give up and say, "I can't fight these temptations anymore, besides, I'm not hurting anyone." or sadly as many say and do, "I will ask for forgiveness later in my life, I just want to have fun now." How sad for the arrogant presumption of the mercy and kindness God gives to all of us. We need to live a good life now, as if were our last day. We need peace of mind and good conscience; and in doing so it will take away that fear of death so many of us have. None of us have a choice to avoid death, but we all have a choice to avoid sin.
It is very wise to reflect on the hour of our death, and do whatever we can in the meantime to be ready, so that we are ready at all times. How do we do this? It's simple really, picture that day you stand before God in judgment, what do you know, right now in your current state spiritually that He will say? If that scares you, then you need to fix that now. Frequent confession, along with a more in-depth prayer life will help you a great deal. Add to that some really great fellowship, with some awesome sisters and brothers who love Jesus; and we can all help one another stay on the narrow path, heading straight to Jesus. I say this a lot, but I keep feeling like I need to, but for what it's worth; try to develop a life that is All About Jesus, 24/7/365. Saturate your life with Him, with no other distractions. Maybe write about your faith and share it, like I do. Or become an evangelist, and spread His love too everyone. Offer your life a living sacrifice and become a priest or sister. Just be open to those possibilities. God loves you so much, and He only wants the best for you.
Today's Gospel: Matthew 25:31-46 (The Judgment of Nations)
"When the Son of man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, then he will sit on his glorious throne. Before him will be gathered all the nations, and he will separate them one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats, and he will place the sheep at his right hand, but the goats at the left. Then the King will say to those at his right hand, `Come, O blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world; for I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.' Then the righteous will answer him, `Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?' And the King will answer them, `Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brethren, you did it to me.' Then he will say to those at his left hand, `Depart from me, you cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels; for I was hungry and you gave me no food, I was thirsty and you gave me no drink, I was a stranger and you did not welcome me, naked and you did not clothe me, sick and in prison and you did not visit me.' Then they also will answer, `Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to you?' Then he will answer them, `Truly, I say to you, as you did it not to one of the least of these, you did it not to me.' And they will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life."
Questions To Ponder Today:
-What does the future hold for us, how do we prepare?
-What kind of love and mercy do we really share with others?
-Would it be fair to say, Jesus is in the hearts of the suffering?
-What kingdom is your allegiance with?
-Does this gospel better prepare you for your life ahead?

Temptation: Jesus 3-Satan 0
Temptation: Jesus 3 - Satan 0
©2011 James Dacey, Jr. SFO
Hello Everyone,
Temptation is one thing we will all face throughout our lives. Jesus also had to deal with it, and I bet that His temptation was far more difficult; considering the devil himself was there in person trying to mislead Jesus. I read that temptation is actually a very healthy part of our spiritual life. Yes, you did read that correctly, but then it is obvious, why that would be said. See if you are in a healthy spiritual relationship with Jesus, you will recognize what temptation is (a lie); and in that you will even more so cling to Jesus, and draw yourself to Him as you are tempted. So in that, recognizing temptation, only deepens your spiritual life; not recognizing it, or not paying any mind to it, can easily lead you away from Jesus. The best advice I have always known in dealing with temptation is this: Once you see and know that these feelings, that thing you see in your eye, the location you are in, whatever; will be sending you down a path of sin and hell.. RUN, FLEE and get away as far as you can.
Temptation isn't something we should even consider fighting, or think we can easily over power. Is it possible to over power it, and defeat it? Absolutely. But know that the devil sees your strength, but at the same time he is studying all your weaknesses; having non stop patience to hit you at the right moment when you are weakest. Eventually if you keep fighting him, he will win. We must keep in mind, temptation is subtle, one inch, and one step at a time. In the end temptation brings out of us, what is in us, and our virtues are tested. Do you see how this is such a challenge? Satan is battling for your heart, how much do you really want to go to Heaven? How much do you really love Jesus? We must do whatever we can to at least be able to recognize temptation; when it is not hidden within that chocolate cake, or that bottle of wine, or in the smile of that person. Temptation will not approach us in any ugly way, it will be covered up in something we like or love. Sort of a camouflage.
Let's take a simple look at the evolution of temptation: First it's a simple thought, maybe of something you like, or someone you like, or something you like to do. What hits you next is only natural. Second your imagination takes it and runs off with it, delighting your thoughts with the pleasures of that first simple thought. Now you are allowing satan to enter into your mind, not as an evil spirit taking you away from God, but rather a pleasant thought of something you like. Thirdly this is followed by deep delight in these thoughts with a little bit of evil inclination. Finally you find yourself agreeing that it is ok to pursue these thoughts. And now that you have gone this far, little by little satan will continue to invade your heart and mind, justifying and convincing you that it's ok, you're not hurting anybody. So what do we do? I say, what did Jesus do? Two things that were obvious, knowledge of scripture, and His close relationship to God, the Father Almighty. Our eyes really need to remain on Jesus at all times, that alone helps us avoid so much temptation we can't see and won't pursue, why; because we are too preoccupied adoring Jesus.
Today's Gospel: Matthew 4:1-11
(Temptation of Jesus in the Wilderness)
"Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. And he fasted forty days and forty nights, and afterward he was hungry. And the tempter came and said to him, "If you are the Son of God, command these stones to become loaves of bread." But he answered, "It is written, `Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.'" Then the devil took him to the holy city, and set him on the pinnacle of the temple, and said to him, "If you are the Son of God, throw yourself down; for it is written, `He will give his angels charge of you,' and `On their hands they will bear you up, lest you strike your foot against a stone.'" Jesus said to him, "Again it is written, `You shall not tempt the Lord your God.'" Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain, and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and the glory of them; and he said to him, "All these I will give you, if you will fall down and worship me." Then Jesus said to him, "Begone, Satan! for it is written, `You shall worship the Lord your God and him only shall you serve.'" Then the devil left him, and behold, angels came and ministered to him."
Questions To Ponder Today:
-Where do we get our strength in times of temptation?
-Do we ever feel trapped or lured into a trap by satan?
-Would you be able to find the same peace an solitude?
-Did you ever retreat some place for a period of time to pray?
-How do you personally deal with your own temptations?
(Learn your own weaknesses, and build your walls in advance.)
