My Friends,

Today’s Gospel: Luke 1:67-79 (Canticle of Zachariah)
“And his father Zechariah was filled with the Holy Spirit, and prophesied, saying, "Blessed be the Lord God of Israel, for he has visited and redeemed his people, and has raised up a horn of salvation for us in the house of his servant David, as he spoke by the mouth of his holy prophets from of old, that we should be saved from our enemies, and from the hand of all who hate us; to perform the mercy promised to our fathers, and to remember his holy covenant, the oath which he swore to our father Abraham,  to grant us that we, being delivered from the hand of our enemies, might serve him without fear, in holiness and righteousness before him all the days of our life. And you, child, will be called the prophet of the Most High; for you will go before the Lord to prepare his ways, to give knowledge of salvation to his people in the forgiveness of their sins, through the tender mercy of our God, when the day shall dawn upon us from on high to give light to those who sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace."

Reflection:
Today’s blog will remain short and simple, its best we spend our time with our families during these most joyful of days. Merry Christmas!!! Christmas can be such a joyful time of the year; it is so sad when many have memories that bring them sorrow. I really miss Christine. Travis and I were talking last night, how in so many ways, Christmas will never ever be the same again. Chrissy brought so much joy in our home at Christmas time, all the decorations, baking cookies, pies, etc. We always loved the Joy she expressed, it brought us so much Joy. I pray that you are able to find the joy of Jesus in your heart during this season.

Today I’d like to reflect on the third Joyful Mystery of the Rosary. The Rosary is a prayerful reflection of scripture that reviews the significant events in the life of Jesus and Mary. Since tomorrow is Christmas Day let us reflect on The Nativity, the third Joyful Mystery. But let us remember today's main focus for all of us, should be spending time with our families. Here is my Decade Dedication to The Nativity...

The Third Joyful Mystery – The Nativity

Our Father…

1. And while [Mary and Joseph] were [in Bethlehem] / the time came for her to be delivered. (Luke 2:6) Hail Mary…

2. And she gave birth to her firstborn son / and wrapped him in swaddling clothes. (Luke 2:7) Hail Mary…

3. And [she] laid him in a manger, / because there was no place for them in the inn. (Luke 2:7) Hail Mary…

4. And in that region / there were shepherds out in the field, / keeping watch over their flock by night. / And an angel of the Lord appeared to them, / and the glory of the Lord shone around them, / and they were filled with fear. (Luke 2:8-9) Hail Mary…

5. And the angel said to them, / “Be not afraid; / for behold, I bring you news of a great joy / which will come to all the people.” (Luke 2:10) Hail Mary…

6. “For to you is born this day in the city of David / a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.” (Luke 2:11) Hail Mary…

7. “Glory to God in the highest, / and on earth peace among men with whom he is pleased!” (Luke 2:14) Hail Mary…

8. And going into the house / [the Wise Men] saw the child with Mary his mother. (Matthew 2:1, 11) Hail Mary…

9. And they fell down and worshipped him. / Then, opening their treasures, / they offered him gifts, / gold and frankincense and myrrh. (Matthew 2:11) Hail Mary…

10. But Mary kept all these things / pondering them in her heart. (Luke 2:19) Hail Mary…

~Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit./ As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

~Oh my Jesus, forgive us our sins. Save us from the fires of hell. Lead all souls to Heaven, especially those in most need of Thy mercy.
