“Be of Good Cheer”

My Friends,
Today’s Gospel: John 16:29-33 (Victory Over The World)
“His disciples said, "Ah, now you are speaking plainly, not in any figure! Now we know that you know all things and need none to question you; by this we believe that you came from God." Jesus answered them, "Do you now believe? The hour is coming, indeed it has come, when you will be scattered, every man to his home, and will leave me alone; yet I am not alone, for the Father is with me. I have said this to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”
Reflection:
“Be of Good Cheer”… Jesus told His disciples that He will overcome the world. So, what must we do? I would say, we need to fully trust in His promise and His word and live knowing that expectation. Jesus knows our weaknesses; He knows our strengths. Let us live knowing He has our back. With that said, we should be able to walk serving Him without fear or doubt in what tomorrow will bring. Because honestly, it doesn't really matter what tomorrow brings.
God’s power can and does change lives, even transform lives. If you are wondering maybe, “What can I do to strengthen and deepen my belief?” I say this, “Spend more time in daily prayer and spend as much time as you can in scripture learning Jesus’ promises.” Here are some thoughts to consider that may help strengthen your faith and trust in Jesus.
-Christian’s believing in God cannot be separated from God.
-Jesus is God, He Himself was the Word made flesh.
-Jesus did warn us that we will be tested.
-Jesus also told the disciples that they too would suffer, but that victory would be theirs in the end.
-Place your trust in the Holy Spirit, for strength and courage.
-Always remember NOTHING can separate YOU from the love of GOD through JESUS CHRIST.
Pondering these thoughts today: Have you ever been put to test with your faith? Have you ever felt the sword at your throat? Looking at death’s door? Eviction from your home? Sudden loss of a spouse or significant other in your life? Have you ever felt like everything you ever hoped for and believed in was crumbling before you and for a moment, you thought you’d be left standing alone? These are horrible thoughts, no doubt. Some of us are facing some of these situations and others are facing many of these at the same time. I leave you with this thought: Turn to the Holy Spirit for strength, courage and reassurance in what you know, you know. And I can’t stress this enough; always place all of your Trust in Jesus Christ.
