“Not of This World”

Today’s Gospel: John 15:18-21 (The World’s Hatred)
"If the world hates you,
know that it has hated me before it hated you. If you were of the world, the
world would love its own; but because you are not of the world, but I chose you
out of the world, therefore the world hates you. Remember the word that I said
to you, `A servant is not greater than his master.' If they persecuted me, they
will persecute you; if they kept my word, they will keep yours also. But all
this they will do to you on my account, because they do not know him who sent
me.”
Reflection:
Let’s face it, we all know it, it’s no secret; the world has rejected Jesus Christ. That battle of hatred started back when Jesus walked the earth and unfortunately it continues to this day. Yes, there are over a 1.23 Billion Catholics in the World according to what we were told on my Cursillo Weekend. But keeping all this in perspective there are about 7.5 Billion people in the entire world, found that figure on Google. So, we have a lot of work to do. Yes, I did say that. If you are not like me, or so many of us, stop reading and go find another blog. We seriously need to get to work and start sharing Jesus, our Lady and the Rosary with 6.27 Billion others. We’ll tell everyone, but you know what I mean.
We seriously need to get excited
about living a life “not of this world”.
I know someone just yelled from the back row to me, “Yo! Jimbo! Rosary Man Jim!!! How in the world are we supposed to do
that and the last paragraph you just shared? Well!” Good point imaginary
voice out there. I get it, we need to first understand how to deepen and live
our lives closer to our Lord. It’s simple, I’m simple, so keep that in mind; everything
I share isn’t complicated in anyway. The “closer”
we get to Jesus with the way we live our lives, share the Lord, talk to others;
the “further away” we are living the
life of this planet and what it consumes. If we let it, this world will consume
and devour us. Hope this is starting to make sense.
Ok, hearing more voices. Just
kidding. But I know someone is saying, “What
can I do? Give me an example. What do you do?” Great questions. LOL Well,
let’s begin by saying if you are a consumer of “things” you need to consider being a consumer of say “prayer” or “fellowship” or “The Holy Mass”
or “adoration time” or “sharing Jesus with others” or “scripture”
or “rosary devotions” or all of them
and more like them. Basically, you need to draw away your attention; from the
earthly goods that already consume your time, your money, your energy and most
importantly your focus. Are you starting to figure this out a little bit now?
Live a humble prayerful life, not a prideful ego filled life. Who cares what
our neighbor drives, rather be concerned if they are going to Heaven. That’s
what matters!!
Pondering these thoughts today: This is a lot to take in, I know that, I will talk about this again. But I encourage you to de-clutter your life of the stuff that distracts you and takes you away from focusing on Jesus; takes you away from sharing Jesus and takes you away from loving Jesus Christ MORE!! I am no saint, but I found that a sincere, consistent, prayerful life fully devoted to our Lord is the BEST way to serve Him and not be consumed by this world. This has done many things for me/us. It makes me BOLD in my faith. It helps me in my knowledge in my faith. It prepared me/us for some of the most difficult times in our family, some of you know all the stuff we have been through this past decade; Jesus Christ and our Lady and those blessed beds got us through all of it. I challenge you and I pray for you to have strength as you move forward. You can do it!!
“I am so devoted to the Rosary that just looking at set of Rosary Beads anywhere, sets my heart in a flutter of Joy and Excitement.” I can’t fully explain it, but I love the feeling I get. That’s a secretly that hardly anyone knows. This has been going on for decades (no pun intended) in my life. Give all of yourself to our Lord and our Lady and you too will experience Joy, at levels that will blow your mind in a good exciting Heavenly way. Truly get a taste of Heaven here on Earth; and what is Heaven “Not of This World”.
LOVE YOU GUYS !!!!
