“The Good Shepherd”

My Friends,
Today’s Gospel: John 10:11-18 (The Good Shepherd)
“I am the good shepherd. The good
shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. He who is a hireling and not a
shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, sees the wolf coming and leaves the
sheep and flees; and the wolf snatches them and scatters them. He
flees because he is a hireling and cares nothing for the sheep. I am the good shepherd; I know my own and my
own know me, as the Father knows me and I know the Father; and I lay down my
life for the sheep. And I have other sheep, that are not of this fold; I must
bring them also, and they will heed my voice. So, there shall be one flock, one
shepherd. For this reason, the Father loves me, because I lay down my life,
that I may take it again. No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my
own accord. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again;
this charge I have received from my Father."
Reflection: from the heart…
I want to be near to you Lord.
Closer than words can ever express. Closer than my time will permit. More than
You and I can ever I have. How can I do this? I must commit to a sincerely
devote prayer life and a very active, aggressive desire to want to be at
Adoration and Mass as often as possible. I want You Lord to be the absolute
center focus of my life. Consume me Lord, as I do all I can to consume You.
My life is only complete when I
am near to you Lord. This life can be deceiving and very misleading. One might
think fame and fortune are the greatest and most important accomplishments, but
they aren’t. In this life, the greatest accomplishment we can ever achieve is
to be close to You. Our relationship with You far exceeds the value of anything
in the universe. Our lives deem no value if they hold no eternal life and
through You Lord we have eternal life.
This life is only complete when
my life is near to you Lord. I give all of me to You Jesus, every fiber of my
being, hearing Your words, reciting Your prayers. I seek only You. This life is
exciting and wonderful because of You. Yes, this life has it’s challenges no
doubt, but because of You Lord, I am able to see beyond them and work closer
and closer to Heaven. On this journey Lord, I desire to help and direct as many
who will be open Lord to listen, as I lead them to You.
Pondering these thoughts today: Jesus is the Good Shepherd. Today I offer a wonderful, exciting, fun challenge. Take a look at all the things in your life that you are involved in. Now ask yourself one question: Do they involve Jesus or the positive sharing of God, scripture, our Lady, the Rosary or anything about our Lord? If not, is it possible to make it that way? If not, I challenge you to not do things in your life that do not involve Jesus in some way. I know that may sound harsh, but staying focused on Jesus in all that we do makes our lives even more incredible and more blessed.
