“Many Followed Him”

My Friends,
Today’s Gospel: Matthew 12:14-21 (God’s Chosen Servant)
“But the Pharisees went out and took counsel against him, how to destroy him. Jesus, aware of this, withdrew from there. And many followed him, and he healed them all, and ordered them not to make him known. This was to fulfill what was spoken by the prophet Isaiah: "Behold, my servant whom I have chosen, my beloved with whom my soul is well pleased. I will put my Spirit upon him, and he shall proclaim justice to the Gentiles. He will not wrangle or cry aloud, nor will anyone hear his voice in the streets; he will not break a bruised reed or quench a smoldering wick, till he brings justice to victory; and in his name will the Gentiles hope."
Reflection:
When your life is crumbling around you… Do you place all your trust, all your energy and all your focus on God’s help and grace and mercy? Well you should! I can say that, because when I say our lives have had its share of destruction, it has. We have been flung off a cliff and drained of every spec of hope we could possible salvage. Even with the ending we had (Chrissy passing away). Yet through it all, tucked deep inside of us we had this “light” this hope, that can only be explained in one simple name “Jesus”. We were never always certain about many things for many years. We didn't always have faithful, loyal people (family and friends) by our side, making sure we made it through with some of our basic needs. We suffered a lot ALONE. Sadly, most of the time we were completely on our own, through Chrissy's toughest times. Hungry and suffering.
Remember Jesus suffered for us and He died for us. His love for us is immeasurable. The Pharisees hated Jesus, their only focus was to destroy and inevitably kill Him. Jesus had incredible courage and determination and if it was God’s Will, that it be through His suffering and dying on the Cross, so be it. Jesus’ love for us meant, He was willing to give all He had including His life; so that by suffering and death, we might have salvation and eternal life. He knew that by dying, He alone would defeat death for us; so that in-turn we might have eternal life with Him.
But we must not forget, we to, have a Cross and we must carry it every day no matter how heavy it gets. If we must lay down our lives as Jesus did, so be it. We must do all we can in this life to seek out God’s Will for us. The best way to begin (and I’m no saint) is by doing all we can to die to sin, and do all we can to stop purposely, knowingly sinning. The culture we live in has accepted “sins” of all kinds, they have even embedded them in laws. That doesn’t make them right before God. Each of us is responsible for our own actions, choices and even words. God will judge us individually (one on one) when that day comes. He alone will decide what our eternity will be. Other things we need to eliminate from our lives is: selfishness, envy, pride, strife, anger and hatred. I know it’s not always easy.

Pondering these thoughts today: My
suggestion is simple:
Pray Every day... Go to Mass as Often as you possibly can... Go to Confession also as often as you possibly can... Love your neighbor, do whatever you can to help those in need, even giving of your own stuff, your own food… And pray for World Peace, God’s Mercy and Others...
