“Treasure In Heaven”

My Friends,
Today’s Gospel:
Mark 10:17-27 (The
Parable of The Rich Man)
“And as he was setting out on his journey, a man ran up and knelt before him, and asked him, "Good Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?" And Jesus said to him, "Why do you call me good? No one is good but God alone. You know the commandments: `Do not kill, Do not commit adultery, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Do not defraud, Honor your father and mother.'" And he said to him, "Teacher, all these I have observed from my youth." And Jesus looking upon him loved him, and said to him, "You lack one thing; go, sell what you have, and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me." At that saying his countenance fell, and he went away sorrowful; for he had great possessions.
And Jesus looked around and said to his disciples, "How hard it will be for those who have riches to enter the kingdom of God!" And the disciples were amazed at his words. But Jesus said to them again, "Children, how hard it is to enter the kingdom of God! It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God." And they were exceedingly astonished, and said to him, "Then who can be saved?" Jesus looked at them and said, "With men it is impossible, but not with God; for all things are possible with God."

Reflection:
Good morning my dear sisters and
brothers. Another fantastic week has begun, and it always begins with Jesus.
Today's Gospel, The Parable of The Rich
Man teaches us a great lesson. Material wealth can be like chains to this
earth, unless we guard our hearts and set our treasure on God, and His
everlasting kingdom. Where is your treasure?
Of cause we can have nice things, a nice home, some possessions; the real question is how attached and entangled is our minds and our hearts in these things? The problem I see with possessions, is that they inevitably possess us. What good is it when we are consumed by them? God’s gift of love to us, is priceless, more than every single possession and every single treasure that exists on earth combined. Our real treasure, is in Heaven, it is there that our hearts and our minds must be consumed.

I am not against wealth, nor am I
against free enterprise and the opportunities that allows everyone to become
wealthy and successful. The dangers of all this success is that wealth has the
power to make us prideful and selfish; wanting to even build a wall around us
to protect and save all our wealth. That’s the dangerous part of success. In
today’s parable Jesus says a very powerful statement, "You lack one thing; go, sell what you have,
and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow
me." I think the secret to real success, within your success is; are
you doing all you can to take care of the poor around you? You don’t have to
become poor giving to the poor, don’t misunderstand that. Are there family
members suffering in poverty, or a neighbor or a friend or even someone you
heard about in Mass. Basically, is there anyway through your blessings of
success, that you can make someone’s life easier and lessen their burden?
Christ and the Rich Young Ruler
Pondering these thoughts today: Today’s refection and parable are all about being able to give it all up for someone else. It’s the full release of our possessions and wealth owning us. Do you know someone who is suffering? Do you know someone who is hungry? Do you know of someone or a family that you know you can help? You can do it anonymously! There are ways to help others that keep your identity secret, so that you and our Lord know what you have done. Maybe someone needs food so badly and they have been praying for God’s mercy and you send them a food store card with $50 or $100 on it. What a true blessing that is for them to receive and for you to give. Pray about it, consider it. Help a neighbor or a friend as best you could. I will be praying for you.
Dear Jesus, For so
many of us, you have captured our minds, our hearts, our lives, our thoughts
and you opened to us the treasures of heaven so that we may unite with you. You
shall always be my treasure and my delight and nothing else will ever keep me
from giving you all of me. May I always give to others with a heart of love;
never selfishly holding onto the gifts you have given me... AMEN.
LOVE YOU GUYS !!!!
