“I Will Raise Him Up”
©2018 James Dacey, Jr. OFS
My Friends,
Today’s Gospel: John 6:52-59 (The Bread of Life Discourse)
“The Jews then disputed among themselves, saying, "How can this man give us his flesh to eat?" So, Jesus said to them, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of man and drink his blood, you have no life in you; he who eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. For my flesh is food indeed, and my blood is drink indeed. He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood abides in me, and I in him. As the living Father sent me, and I live because of the Father, so he who eats me will live because of me.”
Reflection:
Jesus Died for Me! Pitiful sinful me, why would anyone die for me? Jesus must love me so much. We should all take the time to learn what this means. We don’t have to be scholars or seminarians to be close to Jesus to understand His suffering. All we need to do is spend time with Him at Adoration, Daily and/or weekly Mass and spend as much time as you can in scripture.
Jesus Died for You! Yes You! Jesus, loves you with all His heart and every breathe in His precious blessed body. All it would take is one drop of Jesus’ blood to pay the price, but Jesus gave so much more. Consider having your own private prayer life, one that would honor and love our Lord in a very personal way. Then build upon it and make it special between you and Him.
Jesus Died for the Sins of The Whole World! Yes, every single one of us! Who are we to judge? God alone judges! Jesus not only died for you and me, but He died for every single human being in the entire world throughout time. Jesus paid the ultimate price for all our sins with His blood. Our commitment and allegiance to Him, should be and must be unwavering.
The Bread From Heaven
Pondering these thoughts today: What meaning does the Crucified Cross of Jesus have in your life? I’d
like you to try this most powerful exercise. I promise you may need to have
tissues nearby. Either do this at home if you have a Crucified Cross of Jesus
or go to your church and sit before the Cross there. Once the time is right and
it’s just you and Jesus upon the Cross. Look at the cross and stare at the
nails and think about your sins and ask Jesus to forgive you. Continue to stare
at those nails and tell Jesus how much you love Him. Slowly, pray the Our
Father, the Glory Be and the Fatima Prayer (all Rosary Prayers) … repeat this entire exercise as many times as it
takes till you feel it in your heart. You’ll understand that once you continue.
Blessings my friends.
