Said To Him, Rabboni!

My Friends,

Today’s Gospel: John 20:11-18 (I Have Seen The Lord)
“But Mary stood weeping outside the tomb, and as she wept she stooped to look into the tomb; and she saw two angels in white, sitting where the body of Jesus had lain, one at the head and one at the feet. They said to her, "Woman, why are you weeping?" She said to them, "Because they have taken away my Lord, and I do not know where they have laid him." Saying this, she turned round and saw Jesus standing, but she did not know that it was Jesus. Jesus said to her, "Woman, why are you weeping? Whom do you seek?" Supposing him to be the gardener, she said to him, "Sir, if you have carried him away, tell me where you have laid him, and I will take him away." Jesus said to her, "Mary." She turned and said to him in Hebrew, "Rabboni!" (which means Teacher). Jesus said to her, "Do not hold me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father; but go to my brethren and say to them, I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God." Mary Magdalene went and said to the disciples, "I have seen the Lord"; and she told them that he had said these things to her.”

Reflection:
How focused are we on Jesus in our lives on a day to day basis? It’s seems as though even Mary was focused on the empty tomb and not on the Risen Lord. She was easily distracted from Jesus by simply not focusing upon Him. Yet she realized it was Him as He spoke Her name, then her eyes were open. Do we go through our lives the same way? Not seeing when it is Jesus right there in front of us. Not hearing when it is Jesus that is speaking to us. Are we that disconnected from Jesus?

Let us do all we can to live a life that keeps Jesus in the front and center of our thinking. Let us also live a life that keeps Jesus in the front and center of our planning. We should also live a life that keeps Jesus in the front and center of our choices. Jesus… Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior, must be the very first person we think of when we open our eyes in the morning and the very last person we think of when we close them at night. See when we do that, it is then that everyone else falls into place, spouse, children, parents, others, etc.… Jesus must be first always. It’s that balance that will keep us more perfectly focused throughout our day.

Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?” Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.” ~Matthew 22:36-39

Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, for you are receiving the end result of your faith, the salvation of your souls.” ~1 Peter 1:8-9
