I Miss You Christine

BEADS OF JOY 11-26-18

My Friends,

Two years ago, on this date 11/26, my love, my sweetheart, my baby-cakes went to be with our Lord.

I fell in love with Chrissy before I even knew her name, or even her relationship status. I was in college at the time, working several jobs, one of which was security guard at Pergament’s Hardware Store, near the Staten Island Mall. It was my first day and as I was at the front door, this stunning, very beautiful woman was coming into the entrance. I remember my heart was racing and all time and space, and everything around just froze. I said to myself, under my breathe, “There is the future Mrs. Dacey!” I can’t fully explain the way, I really experienced it in words. It was just so absolutely amazing. She came around the corner, I of cause checked her out fully, she didn’t even glance at me; she looked absolutely incredible, this tiny, gorgeous woman, she just stole my heart.

Then she did the ultimate, she headed towards the time clock. I thought to myself, “Holy Cow, she works here, Thank you Jesus.” And in that moment, I knew she would be in my life forever. Then she was stationed at the Return Desk, right next to where I was standing. Talk about amazing! Our first date was Chrissy’s 26th Birthday, August 21, 1986. I was 21 years old.

Well, then the rest is history...

There was No Way in the world I was going to lose this woman I wanted her for the rest of my life. Period. And so our lives began together, rather quickly.

©   ...we eloped Oct 24, 1986
(we were told by many, this will never last)
©     ...then Chrissy was pregnant
©     ...then Chrissy had a miscarriage
©     ...then Chrissy’s left lung collapsed
(ironically, the same lung that was cancer filled)
©     ...then we had a big Church Wedding May 2, 1987
(beyond absolutely amazing)
©     ...then we had 30 amazing, incredible years together...

Christine is absolutely gorgeous.. My Baby-cakes !!!

Christ The King

BEADS OF JOY 11-25-18
“Christ The King”
©2018 James Dacey, Jr. OFS

My Friends,

Today’s Gospel: John 18:33-37 (Trial Before Pilate)
“Pilate entered the praetorium again and called Jesus, and said to him, "Are  you the King of the Jews?" Jesus answered, "Do you say this of your own accord, or did others say it to you about me?" Pilate answered, "Am I a Jew? Your own nation and the chief priests have handed you over to me; what have you done?" Jesus answered, "My kingship is not of this world; if my kingship were of this world, my servants would fight, that I might not be handed over to the Jews; but my kingship is not from the world." Pilate said to him, "So you are a king?" Jesus answered, "You say that I am a king. For this I was born, and for this I have come into the world, to bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth hears my voice."

Reflection:
Let us begin this most joyous, glorious day with reading today's gospel. The glory of this day speaks for itself. This is truly the last Sunday of the Liturgical Year B, next Sunday begins Advent, when Year C begins. Let us take a moment to reflect on the gospel, God's word alone will put our hearts in His presence. I absolutely love the gospels. There was a point and time in my early days walking with Jesus that I actually wrote out, by hand (yes, with a pen) all the gospels. Why? you ask. lol. So that God's words would be embedded in my heart, my mind and thoughts. I still remember the many weeks that took to do. I never kept it after I wrote it, but I have been felt led to write it all out again. What a blessing, what a Joy.

Just take a moment and reflect on these few thoughts:
Do we really know that Jesus Christ is the King of Kings and Lord of Lords? Do we live a life submitted to Him, true to the fact that He is King? Who do we serve? Who is our Lord? Who is our King? Let's face it, a King or a Lord, don't have to be a person. It can be an addiction, or desire, or pride, or wealth, or money, sex, power, ourselves, or selfishness. So much to really think about.

We really need to ponder on so many thoughts like this, as we walk with Jesus on this journey to His presence. Our lives can be so easily distracted and misled into the abyss and lost for all eternity; worshiping and honoring the gods of this world, and of this earth, which are only out to destroy us. Please consider staying focused on Jesus. 24/7/365 He is our Savior and our Lord.

Today more than ever pray, "Jesus, Lord and King, I trust in You."

God of The Living

BEADS OF JOY 11-24-18
“God of The Living”
©2018 James Dacey, Jr. OFS

My Friends,

Today’s Gospel:
Luke 20:27-40 (Question About The Resurrection)
“There came to him some Sadducee's, those who say that there is no resurrection, and they asked him a question, saying, "Teacher, Moses wrote for us that if a man's brother dies, having a wife but no children, the man must take the wife and raise up children for his brother. Now there were seven brothers; the first took a wife and died without children; and the second and the third took her, and likewise all seven left no children and died. Afterward the woman also died. In the resurrection, therefore, whose wife will the woman be? For the seven had her as wife." And Jesus said to them, "The sons of this age marry and are given in marriage; but those who are accounted worthy to attain to that age and to the resurrection from the dead neither marry nor are given in marriage, for they cannot die anymore, because they are equal to angels and are sons of God, being sons of the resurrection. But that the dead are raised, even Moses showed, in the passage about the bush, where he calls the Lord the God of Abraham and the God of  Isaac and the God of Jacob. Now he is not God of the dead, but of the living; for all live to him." And some of the scribes answered, "Teacher, you have spoken well." For they no longer dared to ask him any question.

Reflection:
Beginning Thought: Proof of immortality isn’t only about the body and soul; it’s also about the fellowship and relationship with the living God.

Let us not forget that God is always God of the living. They keep questioning Jesus! Why won’t they believe in Him? Do you believe the scriptures? Do you believe in Jesus? Would you be one of those rejecting our Lord and want to interrogate Him to find Him guilty for anything? I couldn’t even imagine if these things took place in today’s world. There is so much hatred towards so many faiths and beliefs in this world; that Jesus would absolutely be rejected by so many in this day and age.

Here’s a thought: Do you have to deal with rejection or questioning about what you believe or what you know about what you believe? I do occasionally. But now, less than when I was new in my faith. I think it has a lot to do with choices. I choose to be with like-minded people, though sometimes I can’t always control that. But I am so 100% anchored in my faith that no one will ever shake me. See my anchor is in China, (yep China) it goes deep into the earth and completely to the other side of the planet, nothing and no one is moving me. I will stay at my post as I have always said all these decades throughout so many of my blogs.

Hey, did someone just yell a question? LOL, I must be hearing things again, but I did hear you ask me, “How are able to be so solid and strong in your faith while being under opposition and rejection and hatred?” It’s so simple, I am so in love with my Lord and our Lady that nothing, I mean nothing, will ever change how I love them. Not even death could separate me from that love I have for them. My allegiance is 100% solid to my Lord Jesus Christ. So, with all that in mind and all that I shared; once you are that much in love, you will never ever move. Think of this another way. Your spouse or your child is about to be hit by a car and there is only one choice you must take to save them; you must push them out of the way, but in doing so, your life will be taken. Why would you do that? Because your love for them is without question and that love takes precedence in all situations. Period! Hope that makes even more sense now. Stand strong in what you believe; be kind, thoughtful, but never ever back down or fold or switch sides. Love Jesus with ALL your heart, ALL your mind and ALL your soul, always!!

Pondering these thoughts today: Wow. Today was indeed a strong message about believing. Here’s a challenge I’d like you to do. Wear a CROSS somehow, someway for all to see. It can be large, small, tiny; just make sure it is in plain sight. Be prepared, you maybe hated and then you may be loved. Do it for Jesus! I always wear my Franciscan Cross pin. I see many eyes look at it, but no words are ever spoken; but I know they know, that I know, that they know. Hahaha. Nice way to end this, with a smile.

House of Prayer

BEADS OF JOY 11-23-18
“House of Prayer”
©2018 James Dacey, Jr. OFS

My Friends,

Today’s Gospel: Luke 19:45-48 (Jesus Cleanses The Temple)
“And he entered the temple and began to drive out those who sold, saying to them, "It is written, `My house shall be a house of prayer'; but you have made it a den of robbers." And he was teaching daily in the temple. The chief priests and the scribes and the principal men of the people sought to destroy him; but they did not find anything they could do, for all the people hung upon his words.”

Reflection:
Today we see how physical our Lord can get when His Father's house isn't respected. To the best of my knowledge, this is the only time Jesus ever got physically aggressive. I think the only way one can interpret this event, is that our Lord wasn't going to see His house being used by a "den of robbers". This shows us the importance of respect and reverence is vitally important to Him. Jesus was extremely offended by the heartless merchants who merely used the temple as a place to operate their business. Today we are reflecting on Luke 19:45-48 (Jesus Cleanses The Temple). There is no doubt at times that business people do take advantage of the general public, obviously not all of them do. Please don't send me a whole bunch of emails about that. lol. I to, was a business owner, for almost twenty years, we always did the right thing, period. I am speaking only of the ones who purposely take advantage of the public. In Jesus' time, both the tax collectors and the merchants took advantage of the working class of people. So, for Jesus to observe this, He knew well what was going on, and how dare these robbers, these thieves, use the Holy Temple as their backdrop to do these ungodly things. Jesus just couldn't take it anymore. It was time to clean house, His house. Like Jesus said, "It is written, My house shall be a house of prayer; but you have made it a den of robbers." The line has been drawn, and Jesus would be the one drawing it.

So what is the message today? How about honesty and reverence? I think that was what was probably missing here. The Temple is a place of worship, where God's word is taught, honesty and goodness are shared, and morals truly exist. How dare the temple be used for anything so deceitful and misleading on that day. How honest are we with others? How honest are we with God? Funny thing is that if we aren't honest with God He already knows of our lies. And as far as reverence goes, let us not think for a second, just because we don't physically see Him, he don't see us. In God's house we must always be reverent in our actions, our attire, our words and in everything we do, period. God wants us to be holy, in His most holy place; and He most certainly wants us to be reverent and respectful in His house.

With Reverence
by: Rosary Man Jim

With reverence I enter the house
For God is the one who resides,
With reverence I bow my head
For God sees all I cannot hide.

With reverence I genuflect
For God I bow before Him,
With reverence I confess
For God alone forgives my sin.

With reverence I dress respectful
For God's house is one to respect,
With reverence we give Him all of us
For God to us, He will never neglect.

Today's gospel has us possibly thinking, how can I be more reverent and morally on course when I am in church, or at Mass? I think there is a simple way that one can relate all this. Consider God's house the way you would respect anyone else's home. Obviously with-it being God's house it's a whole different situation. But I believe the gist of thought, that if you are in someone else's house, you have a tendency to respect someone else's living space. We also tend to be more reserved to not "throw off our shoes and jump on the couch". lol, no I don't do that. We are God's servants, He only wants us to respect Him. Yes, He is our Father and He loves us as a Father. But at the same time, He is Almighty God, creator of the universe. It's probably easier for many of us who were brought up in an atmosphere of respect in our homes. It's kind of instilled inside us. And if we were brought up in a church going atmosphere, that reverent attitude was even further instilled inside us when it came to be at Mass each week. But to all those who haven't it's never too late to have such wonderful Godly ways instilled in your heart and Spirit. I pray that you had a wonderful Thanksgiving yesterday.

Happy Thanksgiving

BEADS OF JOY 11-22-18
“Happy Thanksgiving”
©2018 James Dacey, Jr. OFS

My Friends,

Today’s Gospel: Luke 19:41-44 (Cleansing of The Temple)
“And when he drew near and saw the city, he wept over it, saying, "Would that even today you knew the things that make for peace! But now they are hid from your eyes. For the days shall come upon you, when your enemies will cast up a bank about you and surround you, and hem you in on every side, and dash you to the ground, you and your children within you, and they will not leave one stone upon another in you; because you did not know the time of your visitation."

Reflection:
Happy Thanksgiving Everyone

Our hope, our love and our thankfulness rests in His return.

There is so much excitement and thankfulness in just knowing Jesus, that in the reality of this life; there is no possible way to fully contain all of its abundant joy in a lifetime. I know I can't contain it. Just think about it seriously. What we possess is not of this world, what we possess in the essence of its substance cannot be seen. What we possess can never be taken from us even if we are robbed or killed. You can't purchase it, or trade for it. What Jesus Christ did for us up on that cross, no one has or ever will do for us. He has saved our souls and opened the door to an eternal life in Heaven with Him for all of us. That is so exciting !!!!

I love you and I miss you Christine 💘

PS. Come back this coming week, I am adding a really insightful reflection here. Something that Fr. Vincent said at Mass this morning. Very very kool.

You Wicked Servant

BEADS OF JOY 11-21-18
“You Wicked Servant”
©2018 James Dacey, Jr. OFS

My Friends,

Today’s Gospel:
Luke 19:11-28 (The Parable of the Ten Gold Coins)
“As they heard these things, he proceeded to tell a parable, because he was near to Jerusalem, and because they supposed that the kingdom of God was to appear immediately. He said therefore, "A nobleman went into a far country to receive a kingdom and
then return. Calling ten of his servants, he gave them ten pounds, and said to them, `Trade with these till I come.' But his citizens hated him and sent an embassy after him, saying, `We do not want this man to reign over us.' When he returned, having received the kingdom, he commanded these servants, to whom he had given the money, to be called to him, that he might know what they had gained by trading. The first came before him, saying, `Lord, your pound has made ten pounds more.' And he said to him, `Well done, good servant! Because you have been faithful in a very little, you shall have authority over ten cities.' And the second came, saying, `Lord, your pound has made five pounds.' And he said to him, `And you are to be over five cities.' Then another came, saying, `Lord, here is your pound, which I kept laid away in a napkin; for I was afraid of you, because you are a severe man; you take up what you did not lay down, and reap what you did not sow.' He said to him, `I will condemn you out of your own mouth, you wicked servant! You knew that I was a severe man, taking up what I did not lay down and reaping what I did not sow? Why then did you not put my money into the bank, and at my coming I should have collected it with interest?' And he said to those who stood by, `Take the pound from him, and give it to him who has the ten pounds.' (And they said to him, `Lord, he has ten pounds!') `I tell you, that to everyone who has will more be given; but from him who has not, even what he has will be taken away. But as for these enemies of mine, who did not want me to reign over them, bring them here and slay them before me.'" And when he had said this, he went on ahead, going up to Jerusalem.”

Reflection:
Today’s gospel is very exciting, and we have so much we can learn by it. God has given each of us special gifts. The minute we hoard or bury or not share or multiply what God has given us; that day will truly be a sad day for that person. We must do all we can to make what we have been given -multiply; and in that growth we must be spreading His love, and His word to all. We only get one chance (one life) to get this right. Just like it says in the parable. These servants had a specific amount of time (one chance) with these treasures and then upon the return of the nobleman, judgment was placed upon the stewardship of the servants. These servants were trusted, as God trusts us in what He has given us and blessed us with. How dare we hoard or hide or bury and keep from others what isn't even our own. Let us share these blessings. We are only blessed by what we have when we give it away, and/or share it with someone else. If we keep it to our own selfish self, there is no value. Some have talents to share (carpentry, plumbing, landscaping, auto repair, food, money) There are so many different gifts. How has God Blessed you?

Today let us reflect upon today’s Gospel through today’s mysteries.

1st Glorious Mystery – The Resurrection of Jesus.

These most Glorious Mysteries celebrate the Joy and Love that you share with me Lord. In today’s gospel we can see how what I do with what You give me Lord, is inevitably measured by what I do with those gifts. “Because you have been faithful in a very little…” My Faith and my love for You Lord is expressed in this most Glorious most spectacular mystery of Your Most Glorious Resurrection. May my life be an expression of Your love Lord, sharing and growing and multiplying the gifts You have blessed me with.

2nd Glorious Mystery – The Ascension of Jesus.

This second Glorious Mystery gives me so much Hope Lord. Thank you, Lord, for sharing this insightful blessed parable. I truly love spending time in scripture, learning about all that You teach me. I pray that I am like the servant with the ten –multiplying all that You give to me Lord. As You Ascend into Heaven Lord my heart fills with the Love and the Joy of Your Love for me.

3rd Glorious Mystery – Descent of the Holy Spirit.

This most blessed mystery is one of my favorite. You said Lord that God the Father would send down the Holy Spirit to help me, to guide me, to lead me. The Wisdom gained in this mystery is such a blessing on my Spiritual Journey to You. Today’s gospel shows me that hoarding and hiding and selfishly keeping that which You have given me, comes with a price. I pray Lord that my heart always stays focused on You.

4th Glorious Mystery – The Assumption.

In this fourth mystery Lord, I come to the realization of my faith -that You have given me Your Mother, just like You did at the Cross. My daily prayer life matters so much in this mystery. You gave me a gift Lord and in turn -I cherish my Devotion to Mary, Your Mother, my Mother. I shall always share her with others, in prayer, in the Rosary, in learning and teaching the Rosary; constantly sharing multiplying all the love she has for us, that leads us to You.

5th Glorious Mystery – The Coronation.

More has been given, and her name is Mary, Mother of God. She always leads us to You Lord, and through her sending us to You, we always find Eternal Happiness in Your love. In today’s gospel my heart is open to the gifts You always give, and the Joy You further give us as we share all that You give us. May the Joy found in this Rosary today help lead others to You Lord.

I pray that all have found what their gifts are, and the insight and wisdom gained by this knowledge; leads you to a heart that desires to share and multiply all for God’s glory, celebrating His love for you.
