Today’s Focus: When can I Pray The Rosary?  
The correct answer is anytime, anyplace and as many times as you so wish. If you want to be a Prayer Warrior like me; take on the challenge and pray a full 20-decade Rosary every single day. It really isn’t that difficult and you’d be surprised how wonderful it is spiritually when you do. But if you would like to be on the schedule, that the rosary has been set forth. Here is the schedule.

Joyful Mysteries: Monday and Saturday
Luminous Mysteries: Thursday
Sorrowful Mysteries: Tuesday and Friday
Glorious Mysteries: Wednesday and Sunday

Just as a fun side note in my research I found out that "Padre Pio loved the Rosary so much that he said a 15-decade Rosary up to 35 times per day". So simply know that if you so desire to Pray The Rosary from the moment you wake up to the moment you go to sleep, it’s been done before. But you are also welcomed to pray that much and more.

In my past, especially back in the early 1980’s when I first gave my heart to Jesus and our Lady and the Rosary. I prayed the rosary non-stop (all 15 decades in a row.) over and over and over and I finished with the Hail Holy Queen before bed, I did this for years. I was very addicted. How did I do that you ask? Very simple. I used my fingers, praying each Hail Mary and Our Father, Glory Be and Fatima Prayer under my breathe and in my head and I had a mystery cheat card, so I can stay focused on what mystery I was praying. I miss those days of 24/7/365 Rosary Prayers. The kids at St. Patrick’s Church in Milford, PA named me right (Rosary Man). I couldn’t live my life any other way; till the last breath I take, I am fully devoted to our Lord, Mother Mary and the Rosary. Little by little since all these changes in my life have occurred; I am going back to that undivided dedication to the Rosary. I do pray a full 20-decade rosary every single day. No one knows that, y’all do now. But I use CD’s and DVD’s and I love it.

How simple is it to Pray The Rosary every day? All you got to do is keep it high on your list of daily priorities. You can split up the decades throughout the day. Begin your Rosary at home, all the way up to the first decade. Once in your car or on the bus or on the train, begin the decades. One or two perhaps, who knows how ambitious or excited you will get. Do this throughout the day till all the decades you desire are prayed. Obviously, our Lord knows your heart, your intention and your desire; stay as reverent as you can, no one needs to know your business. Or share it when you feel the Spirit lead. Then at home before you go to sleep, pray the Hail Holy Queen and believe me once you got this down to a science it will be natural for you to... 
ALWAYS PRAY !!!

Pray The Rosary! Why?

Today’s Focus: Why Would I Pray The Rosary?
Why would I?? I think the question should be asked: Why wouldn’t I Pray The Rosary? The Rosary is all about peace and tranquility. I find that when I Pray The Rosary my mind and my heart and my soul are at complete rest in the arms of Mary; while she sits at the feet of Jesus telling Him all about me. For that reason alone, I find myself drawn to the Rosary every single day. Sometimes for every single set of mysteries. My morning prayer time is very private and praying the rosary is a very significant part of it.

Another most incredible reason why you would want to Pray The Rosary; is that this wonderful pray and its mysteries is a biblical prayer. Thursday’s blog will share all the scripture readings with each mystery. I know for the past 34 years I have heard many people tell me, many different things about what they seen the rosary to be. Some say, made up prayer, others have told me, you are worshiping Mary. And I was once told it was a cult. It’s incredible how when someone has no information and knows no truth, that they make up anything and they become an expert on nothing. But, Thank God, the Rosary is a Scripturally based prayer all about Jesus with our Lady by His side. Truly a most amazing experience every single time I pray my rosary, even after 34 years.

Another most incredible reason is to see what so many priests, saints, bishops, nuns, deacons and authors have said and shared about the Rosary over the centuries. In Friday’s blog, I will share a lot of what they had to say about the Rosary. Look at what Archbishop Fulton Sheen had to say about the Rosary.

"The Rosary is the best therapy for these distraught, unhappy, fearful, and frustrated souls, precisely because it involves the simultaneous use of three powers: the physical, the vocal, and the spiritual, and in that order." ~ Archbishop Fulton Sheen

Alan de Rupe was a 15th-century Dominican preacher, best known for his efforts to promote the Rosary. Alan claimed to have experienced a vision by which it was revealed to him that the Blessed Virgin Mary had appeared to St. Dominic and gave him the Rosary as a means to combat the Albigensian movement. Alan de Rupe's revelation concerning St. Dominic and the Rosary was generally accepted until the 17th century when the Bollandists concluded that the account of Dominic's supposed apparition of Our Lady of the Rosary is not mentioned in any documents of the Church or Dominican Order prior to the accounts of Alan over two hundred years later.

These 15 promises were revealed to St Dominic by Our Lady. There is a link directly after them, that well explains each promise. I hope your Rosary, is as exciting in your life, as mine is in my life. One more exciting quote:

If you say the Rosary faithfully until death, I do assure you that, in spite of the gravity of your sins you shall receive a never-fading crown of glory. Even if you are on the brink of damnation, even if you have one foot in hell, even if you have sold your soul to the devil as sorcerers do who practice black magic, and even if you are a heretic as obstinate as a devil, sooner or later you will be converted and will amend your life and will save your soul, if — and mark well what I say — if you say the Holy Rosary devoutly every day until death for the purpose of knowing the truth and obtaining contrition and pardon for your sins.” ~St. Louis de Montfort

The 15 Promises of The Blessed Virgin Mary

1.     Whoever shall faithfully serve me by the recitation of the Rosary, shall receive signal graces.
2.     I promise my special protection and the greatest graces to all those who shall recite the Rosary.
3.     The Rosary shall be a powerful armor against hell, it will destroy vice, decrease sin, and defeat heresies.
4.     It will cause virtue and good works to flourish; it will obtain for souls the abundant mercy of God; it will withdraw the heart of men from the love of the world and its vanities, and will lift them to the desire of eternal things. Oh, that souls would sanctify themselves by this means.
5.     The soul which recommends itself to me by the recitation of the Rosary shall not perish.
6.     Whoever shall recite the Rosary devoutly, applying himself to the consideration of its sacred mysteries, shall never be conquered by misfortune. God will not chastise him in His justice, he shall not perish by an unprovided death; if he be just he shall remain in the grace of God, and become worthy of eternal life.
7.     Whoever shall have a true devotion for the Rosary shall not die without the sacraments of the Church.
8.     Those who are faithful to recite the Rosary shall have, during their life and at their death, the light of God and the plenitude of His graces; at the moment of death they shall participate in the merits of the saints in paradise.
9.     I shall deliver from Purgatory those who have been devoted to the Rosary.
10. The faithful children of the Rosary shall merit a high degree of glory in heaven.
11. You shall obtain all you ask of me by the recitation of the Rosary.
12. All those who propagate the Holy Rosary shall be aided by me in their necessities.
13. I have obtained from my Divine Son that all the advocates of the Rosary shall have for intercessors the entire celestial court during their life and at the hour of death.
14. All who recite the Rosary are my sons, and brothers of my only son Jesus Christ.
15. Devotion of my Rosary is a great sign of predestination.

The Blessings of The Praying The Rosary
1. Sinners are forgiven.
2. Souls that thirst are refreshed.
3. Those who are fettered have their bonds broken.
4. Those who weep find happiness.
5. Those who are tempted find peace.
6. The poor find help.
7. Religious are reformed.
8. Those who are ignorant are instructed.
9. The living learn to overcome pride.
10. The dead (the Holy Souls) have their pains eased by suffrages.

Today’s Focus: How Do I Pray The Rosary?
Praying the Rosary is simpler than one might imagine. Don’t let a string of beads intimidate you. Instead, grab hold of those beads and never ever let them go. I really love to Pray The Rosary. I hope the more that you learn about the Rosary, the more you will to.

Let’s begin with the prayers of the Rosary. Just know that while memorizing them makes praying the rosary so much easier. Don’t feel that you can’t read them or have a pamphlet or notes to go by. I did when I first began. I only knew the Our Father and the Hail Mary.

The Apostles' Creed

I believe in God,
the Father almighty,
Creator of heaven and earth,
and in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died and was buried;
he descended into hell;
on the third day he rose again from the dead;
he ascended into heaven,
and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty;
from there he will come to judge the living and the dead.

Abundant Life Eternal

Today’s Gospel: John 17:1-11 (The Prayer of Jesus)
“When Jesus had spoken these words, he lifted up his eyes to heaven and said, "Father, the hour has come; glorify your Son that the Son may glorify you, since you have given him power over all flesh, to give eternal life to all whom you have given him. And this is eternal life, that they know you the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent. I glorified you on earth, having accomplished the work which you gave me to do; and now, Father, glorify me in your own presence with the glory which I had with you before the world was made. "I have manifested your name to the men whom you gave me out of the world; they were yours, and you gave them to me, and they have kept your word. Now they know that everything that you have given me is from you; for I have given them the words which you gave me, and they have received them and know in truth that I came from you; and they have believed that you sent me. I am praying for them; I am not praying for the world but for those whom you have given me, for they are yours; all mine are yours, and yours are mine, and I am glorified in them. And now I am no more in the world, but they are in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, keep them in your name, which you have given me, that they may be one, even as we are one.”

Reflection:
I am sure some you, as you begin to read and look at the title and the picture; may be wondering how this all connects. I’ve always said I am a simple man, so with that in mind, this too is very simple. Our Abundant Life begins at the Cross of Jesus! Our Eternal Life also begins at the Cross of Jesus! Hence the Abundant Life Eternal begins at the Cross of Christ. We have returned to where it all began, so that we may continue to move forward abundantly. This understanding is vital as we embrace the Abundant Life Eternal. Let’s take a quick look at some scripture (I love scripture.) as we continue with these thoughts:

For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.” ~John 3:16

Truly, truly, I say to you, he who hears My word, and believes Him who sent Me, has eternal life, and does not come into judgment, but has passed out of death into life.” ~John 5:24

But now having been freed from sin and enslaved to God, you derive your benefit, resulting in sanctification, and the outcome, eternal life. For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” ~Romans 6:22-23

This is the promise which He Himself made to us: eternal life.” ~1 John 2:25

I could continue, but I’ll pull back for now. I may share something else shortly, but let’s look at a few other things right now. I sometimes feel like our time here in this life; is very short and all that we accomplish here to some small degree is pointless, unless it is Christ-centered. I won’t mention any accomplishments or successes so no one feels like I am talking about them, because I’m not. This is more of a general spiritual thought. If only there were more like-minded people in this way of thinking. Anyways let’s continue thinking about Jesus and the Eternal Life.

When I see Jesus on the Cross – I see victory over sin and victory over satan and victory over death itself. It is through the Cross that we have surrendered all; and by surrendering everything we have gained eternal life, because we embraced that Cross. Think about it this way: We follow Jesus by carrying our own Cross, and by carrying our own Cross we must put down anything else we are holding onto. Therefore, our arms can only be wrapped around holding and carrying the Cross; and by doing so we are releasing ourselves from the chains and attachments of this world to hold the Cross, which is our victory towards eternity.

The Eternal Life that Jesus offers to us, is more than our lives without ending when we die. It is our current life that we are living that becomes more abundant in the grace of God; and an over-abundance in the Fruit of The Holy Spirit in our lives and in our hearts. And we will also get an over-abundance in the Fruit of The Rosary, the more we Pray The Rosary. Because, you will Pray The Rosary more now, of cause. LOL. Everything Christ-centered becomes more abundant and more filled with Joy than ever before, now that you are living a more Christ-centered life. Am I typing too fast, are you keeping up with me? I'm just having fun with you. Look at the Fruits that will flourish in abundance in your life:

The Fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-26)

“By contrast, the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against such things. And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.
If we live by the Spirit, let us also be guided by the Spirit. Let us not become conceited, competing against one another, envying one another.”

Let me leave you with this prayer from St. Frances de Sales: "If only I possessed the grace, good Jesus, to be utterly at one with you! Amidst all the variety of worldly things around me, Lord, the only thing I crave is unity with you. You are all my soul needs. Unite, dear friend of my heart, this unique little soul of mine to your perfect goodness. You are all mine; when shall I be yours? Lord Jesus, my beloved, be the magnet of my heart; clasp, press, unite me forever to your sacred heart. You have made me for yourself; make me one with you. Absorb this tiny drop of life into the ocean of goodness whence it came."

Treasures Uncovered

Today’s Gospel: John 16:23-28 (Coming of The Advocate)
“In that day, you will ask nothing of me. Truly, truly, I say to you, if you ask anything of the Father, he will give it to you in my name. Hitherto you have asked nothing in my name; ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full. "I have said this to you in figures; the hour is coming when I shall no longer speak to you in figures but tell you plainly of the Father. In that day, you will ask in my name; and I do not say to you that I shall pray the Father for you; for the Father himself loves you, because you have loved me and have believed that I came from the Father. I came from the Father and have come into the world; again, I am leaving the world and going to the Father."

Reflection:
The treasures have been uncovered; Jesus has revealed to them God’s love for them and us. Verse 27 reveals the treasure itself has been opened for all to see and hear, “for the Father himself loves you, because you have loved me and have believed that I came from the Father.” My dear sisters and brothers, do you know what this means? Our Lord Jesus Christ has opened His most loving heart to tell us all this. Let us rejoice and be glad in it. We know now for a fact by Jesus Himself, that we can ask God The Father for His mercy and His blessings. Yes, we can boldly in humility, ask God for the very things we need. It is through Jesus’ love for us and our loving Him in return, that we have the very throne of Almighty God within our reach.

Now the rubber meets the road, we need to get to work! Oh, you thought what!? No, no; we have only just begun!! Jesus let us know we can kick start the motorcycle, now that we got it going, it’s time to take this baby for a ride. “Oh no, there Jim goes talking in stories again.” Ok, I heard that. LOL. What I mean is, Jesus has given us the chance and the ability to speak to the Father, well my friends, let’s do it! Respectfully! In humility! And in daily consistency. Prayer is a magnificent, incredible, blessed gift given to us. Think of it as our direct, live connection to Heaven, to Almighty God Himself. You do know that just because we ask for something God doesn’t just give it to us? God has a plan for each of us, some of us are single and some of us are couples and some are families and even groups. God knows all this. God’s plans exceed our requests, but He does know our hearts. Patience my sisters and brothers and in some way all your prayers will be answered.

For there is no other way to the Father except through Son (Jesus Christ). And in today’s gospel Jesus tells us that plainly. I am so excited when I read such treasures like this is scripture. We are blessed beyond words when it comes to having a Bible. I hope and pray that you cherish your Bible. It’s not a book! It’s not a document! It is the inspired words of Almighty God. It is our daily opportunity to always be connected to the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. This is what is printed on the first few pages, in my Bible:

“Let them remember that prayer should accompany the reading of Sacred Scripture, so that God and man may talk together.”
 
~Dogmatic Constitution (2nd Vatican Council)

Pondering these thoughts today: Today’s gospel is amazing and wonderful, leading us to an incredible revelation and appreciation for sacred scripture. Do you spend time in scripture? More plainly: Do you spend time reading your Bible? Ok, you know what I am going say. How about you try to begin to spend time every single day, reading your Bible. You don’t have to read a book or a chapter. Maybe read the day’s gospel or all the day’s readings or just a page. Yeah, one page per day. That’s simple! Right! I know we are all busy in different ways and it’s not always easy. I suggest you pray for God’s guidance in this. He will lead your heart and desire and believe me, at least from my own experience, once you pick up the Bible, you won’t be able to put it down. Just saying.
