“Corpus Christi”

Today’s Gospel: Mark 14:12-16, 22-26 (Corpus Christi)
“And on the first day of
Unleavened Bread, when they sacrificed the Passover lamb, his disciples said to
him, "Where will you have us go and prepare for you to eat the Passover?"
And he sent two of his disciples, and said to them, "Go into the city, and
a man carrying a jar of water will meet you; follow him, and wherever he
enters, say to the householder, `The Teacher says, Where is my guest room,
where I am to eat the Passover with my disciples?' And he will show you a large
upper room furnished and ready; there prepare for us." And the disciples
set out and went to the city and found it as he had told them; and they
prepared the Passover.
And as they were eating, he took bread, and blessed, and broke it, and gave it to them, and said, "Take; this is my body." And he took a cup, and when he had given thanks he gave it to them, and they all drank of it. And he said to them, "This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many. Truly, I say to you, I shall not drink again of the fruit of the vine until that day when I drink it new in the kingdom of God." And when they had sung a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives.
And as they were eating, he took bread, and blessed, and broke it, and gave it to them, and said, "Take; this is my body." And he took a cup, and when he had given thanks he gave it to them, and they all drank of it. And he said to them, "This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many. Truly, I say to you, I shall not drink again of the fruit of the vine until that day when I drink it new in the kingdom of God." And when they had sung a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives.
Reflection:
Today we shall focus on the
magnificence of the Eucharist. It is not a mere representation of Jesus, on the
contrary; the bread and wine becomes Jesus. Jesus clearly says, “I am the
living bread which came down from heaven; if any one eats of this bread, he
will live forever; and the bread which I shall give for the life of the world
is my flesh." So, at every single time you go to Mass, a miracle is
witnessed. This is why, we must go to Mass as often as we possibly can. Not
only to witness the Mass and be there; but more importantly to be in God’s
presence.

Pondering these thoughts today: I have a deep passion and respect for the Eucharist, in a little ministry
of my own, with how I receive. Maybe it’s just me, but maybe this might
interest you. Whenever I receive, I don’t eat anything before I receive, at
all. No matter when it is. Do you follow me? If I am going to 5:00pm Saturday
night Mass I won’t eat all day, the ONLY thing that will touch my tongue will
be the Holy Eucharist. Obviously the same goes with all Sunday Masses. That’s
just me. If I know what Mass I am going to, I refrain from eating till after
Mass. Jesus first always! I have been doing this for many many years.
