My Friends,
Today’s Gospel: Mark 11:11-26 (Help Hope and Heal)
Jesus Curses The Fig Tree: 11-14
And he entered Jerusalem and went into the temple; and when he had looked round at everything, as it was already late, he went out to Bethany with the twelve. On the following day, when they came from Bethany, he was hungry. And seeing in the distance a fig tree in leaf, he went to see if he could find anything on it. When he came to it, he found nothing but leaves, for it was not the season for figs. And he said to it, "May no one ever eat fruit from you again." And his disciples heard it.
Cleansing of The Temple: 15-19
And they came to Jerusalem. And he entered the temple and began to drive out those who sold and those who bought in the temple, and he overturned the tables of the money-changers and the seats of those who sold pigeons; and he would not allow anyone to carry anything through the temple. And he taught, and said to them, "Is it not written, `My house shall be called a house of prayer for all the nations'? But you have made it a den of robbers." And the chief priests and the scribes heard it and sought a way to destroy him; for they feared him, because all the multitude was astonished at his teaching.
Withered Fog Tree: 20-26
And when evening came they went out of the city. As they passed by in the morning, they saw the fig tree withered away to its roots. And Peter remembered and said to him, "Master, look! The fig tree which you cursed has withered." And Jesus answered them, "Have faith in God. Truly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, `Be taken up and cast into the sea,' and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says will come to pass, it will be done for him. Therefore, I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. And whenever you stand praying, forgive, if you have anything against any one; so that your Father also who is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses. But if you do not forgive, neither will your Father who is in heaven forgive your trespasses"
Reflection:
There is no doubt that the moneychangers were taking advantage of the people, especially the poor. In all of Jesus travels, He purifies the people to help make them holy. The most disgraceful thing they did was that they did this in the Temple. I see this as an interpretation of Jesus forgiving (rebuking) our sins and then, clearing out the moneychangers (clearing out our sins), and then withering away (removing our sins from the root).
I have a very intense prayer life that involves tremendous research, imbedded in a heart full of love for my Lord. That interpretation came from my heart, I strongly believe in how the Holy Spirit works through me. I am only a mere instrument for my Lord to uses as he wishes.
"When we go before Jesus on the altar, we always find Him ‘with Mary His Mother,’ as the Magi did at Bethlehem (Mt. 2:11). And Jesus in the sacred Host, from the altar of our hearts, can repeat to each one of us what He said to St. John the Evangelist from the altar of Calvary, ‘Behold thy Mother’ (Jn 19:27)," ~"Jesus, Our Eucharistic Love",

The fig tree; the cleansing of the Temple
Pondering these thoughts today: Consider this, “It is most becoming that, when the Mass is finished, the person who has received the Eucharist should recollect himself, and in intimate union with the Divine Master hold loving and fruitful converse with him.” ~Venerable Pius XII. Think about today’s gospel, the cursed fig tree (our sins), the money-changers (our sinfulness), the withered tree (our sins removed). And think how all this happened in and around the Temple. I suggest you pray and pray and pray and ask the Holy Spirit to lead His Wisdom to your heart. Today reach out to someone super close to you and tell them how much you love and appreciate them.
