Biblical Reasons For Bible Study
©2010 James Dacey, Jr. SFO
Today I am taking a little bit of a different approach on the blog. Today I am using my bible research techniques to locate in scripture reasons why studying biblical doctrine is so important for us in our Christian walk. Come along on this journey and see why I enjoy this so much. This is just the tip of the it all. Believe me when I say that the different ways you can enjoy bible study are basically endless, I do mean endless. And you will find as I have say in prior blog, that at different times in your life, the same scripture will have different meaning in your life. Let us begin, see how bible study helps us, here are just a few ways.
Bible Study Helps Us Settle Into This World"Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of men in their deceitful scheming."
Bible Study Helps Us Reflect Who We Are From God"Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth."
2 Timothy 2:15
Bible Study Helps Us Be Better Equipped In This World"Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God."
Bible Study Helps Us Become Bold In Our Faith"Unlike so many, we do not peddle the word of God for profit. On the contrary, in Christ we speak before God with sincerity, like men sent from God."
2 Corinthians 2:17
Bible Study Helps Us Understand Jesus' Return"Brothers, we do not want you to be ignorant about those who fall asleep, or to grieve like the rest of men, who have no hope. We believe that Jesus died and rose again and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him. According to the Lord's own word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left till the coming of the Lord, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep. For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever."
1 Thessalonians 4:13-17
Bible Study Helps Us Understand How The World Will End"But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance. But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything in it will be laid bare."
2 Peter 3:8-10
Do you see how exciting this can be. I won't continue with this topic anymore, I think everyone is beginning to understand and see why I am so excited about scripture. You can easily spend days on each one of these individual scriptures. Simply by using the commentary and the cliff notes in your bible for a more in depth look at the verses.
I pray that you enjoying your bible study even more now.
