The Words of God

BEADS OF JOY 04-12-18

My Friends,

Today’s Gospel: John 3:31-36 (The One Sent From Heaven)
“He who comes from above is above all; he who is of the earth belongs to the earth, and of the earth he speaks; he who comes from heaven is above all. He bears witness to what he has seen and heard, yet no one receives his testimony; he who receives his testimony sets his seal to this, that God is true. For he whom God has sent utters the words of God, for it is not by measure that he gives the Spirit; the Father loves the Son and has given all things into his hand. He who believes in the Son has eternal life; he who does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God rests upon him.”

Reflection:
You know what I was thinking today? Isn’t it amazing how we keep reflecting about; our hunger for an abundant life through Our Lord and where is our allegiance, is it with Jesus? Ok, maybe the words are little different, but you get the gist, of the constant questioning. Maybe it’s me and probably a whole bunch of you are thinking, “Hmmm, he is right, why isn’t everyone already on-board without question?”

So, today let us look at the Lord’s Prayer and really get into it privately and personally. How devoutly, and slowly and thoughtfully do we consider the words of the "Lord's Prayer" each time we pray it. Consider the Lord's Prayer, as a prayer that is so perfect, that when we pray it; our hearts are full of love; and covered with contentment and Joy, that we need nothing else to make our life so complete. This is yet another very special part of the Joy that inside my heart. It is so complete, so perfect, that we get to speak directly to God, our Father, our Lord, as if He were standing right here as we pray the Lord's Prayer. Don't we all want that kind of Joy? How about a Joy that keeps you smiling while the world frowns? How about a Joy that comforts you when you are feeling down? This Joy goes without say, how long it will last; for if "forever" was the measure, it goes way beyond eternity fast. Prayer is the key today, and the Lord's Prayer is our perfect prayer.

There are the seven petitions of the Lord's Prayer. They are so simple to remember by their own design. Check this out. The first three take us right to the Father (hallowed be thy namethy kingdom come, and thy will be done). These are all for God's glory, strengthening us in faith, hope and charity... Now check out the last four, they are all about our own expectations, it's pretty cool (Give usForgive usLead us, and Deliver us) wow, this prayer is so perfectly laid out. Those are our needs we are asking God the Father to accomplish for us. I hope today’s reflection of prayer helps inspire you to a deeper more devoted prayer life.

Gospel of John 3:22-36
(Today’s Gospel begins at 1:15)

Pondering these thoughts today: Here’s another thought. In your day to day life, do you think about everything you do, and say and desire and even speak with Almighty God in mind? One thing we can’t forget is that God has a full record of our words, our actions and even our ulterior motives. But, Praise Jesus by our Lord’s blood we are forgiven, and the slate is wiped clean. But, we must keep in mind, it only through a good confession and admittance of wrong-doing that will set us free from the grip of our sins. “the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all who believe. For there is no distinction, since all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God; they are now justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus,” ~Romans 3:22-24 Monthly confession is good plan. As Fr. Larry Richards would say, “Confession once a month is good for the soul.”
