Hello Everybody,

Today's Gospel: Matthew 5:1-12a (The Sermon on the Mount - The Beatitudes)

"When Jesus saw the crowds, he went up the mountain, and after he had sat down, his disciples came to him. He began to teach them, saying:
Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the Kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are they who mourn, for they will be comforted.

Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the land.
Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be satisfied.
Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.
Blessed are the clean of heart, for they will see God.
Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.
Blessed are they who are persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for theirs is the Kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are you when they insult you and persecute you and utter every kind of evil against you falsely because of me.
Rejoice and be glad, for your reward will be great in heaven
."

The world can not grasp the power of the Beatitudes. This works against the grain of what the world would believe to be joy. The joy instilled in this gospel is best understood by the heart completely surrendered to our Lord. I find such peace and such happiness in the entire gospel but most especially the last verse. "Rejoice and be glad, for your reward will be great in heaven." I am so excited and thrilled and I so much look forward to the day, that with God's mercy I get to be in our Lord's presence.

It was St Teresa of Avila who said, "Let nothing disturb you, let nothing frighten you; All things pass: God never changes. Patience achieves all it strives for. Whoever has God lacks nothing, God alone suffices."

It was Jesus who promises us, that the joys of Heaven will far surpass the suffering and sacrifces we have here in this life. It was St Thomas Aquinas who said: "No one can live without joy. That is why a person deprived of spiritual joy goes after carnal pleasures."

Praise Jesus for His endless love and joy for all of us.
My life is fully complete and most dynamic because of Him.
