Nativity - Prepare Yourself
©2011 James Dacey, Jr. SFO
Hello Everyone,
DECADE OF THOUGHT: "The Nativity - In your life and heart, have you prepared a place for Jesus; with the desire to serve ?"
What is the most important part of taking a journey? The preparation of cause, and the longer and more important the journey, the more critical the preparation is. Just as God prepared a place for His Son to be born, and our Blessed Mother and Joseph made sure they would be in a place safe for Jesus to be born; we to must be prepared. God also has prepared a place for us in His Kingdom. Preparation is a critical thing we must all take seriously, are you prepared? Are you ready for this journey here on earth? and in this journey are you preparing for where this all leads to, an eternity, somewhere? All this preparation talk is so important. Yesterday we went to see the movie, "The Rite". Very interesting movie about the true events of two priests dealing with exorcism. It brought up many questions from my two youngest sons, Travis and Charlie. We talked about how in the movie the younger priest who was skeptical and didn't even believe in God, simply didn't believe in the devil either. Eventually the devil pinned him at his neck embracing him telling the priest to believe in him (the devil). We talked about what the other priest told this young priest; you can't believe in the devil and evil without believing in God and good. Believing in one, forces you to believe in the other. Or your belief makes no sense, you are a liar. And simply not believing doesn't mean it don't exist. This talk with my sons led into us talking about our lives here on earth and how short the time really is.
I am so grateful that my kids listen to my "sermons" when I can. They wanted to learn and understand what this life was all about. It was such a blessing, I was thrilled seeing a 14 y/o and a 10 y/o, eyes wide open and hungry to understand. We talked about how this little tiny bit of 70-80 or even 90 years of life is but a tiny spec of time, in comparison to the length of time eternity is. Yet this tiny spec of time, the preparation period of our life, determines where we will spend our eternity. Once that was somewhat understood, they wanted to hear about Heaven and hell. I explained it to them in a very exciting story about Heaven and hell found in The Gospel of Luke, (The Rich Man and Lazarus) Luke 16:19-31. Their eyes were wide open, as I told the story, then I shared how in verse 26 it says, "And besides all this, between us and you a great chasm has been set in place, so that those who want to go from here to you cannot, nor can anyone cross over from there to us." I explained how this great chasm separated the two worlds of eternity and once you have decided by how you lived your life; which side you ended up on, you can't ever go to the other side. That's why your life here on earth, this preparation time is so critical for all of us.
How prepared are we in this life? Do we have a place in our hearts, even now that is prepared for Jesus to be with us, as we live our lives? Or are we so distracted and misled by this world? Are there so many irrelevant things going on in our lives that we can't think of anything but that pointless stuff and ourselves? Or are we lost in a world of pleasure, and stuff and the rewards that spoil here on earth, and that they have absolutely no significances in eternity, except keeping us away from Heaven? We really need to think about all these things. Yes college is important, yes paying our mortgage and going to work, and doing what you have to do to keep a roof over our head for our family is important. But how much more important is our eternity? How much more will the cost be, if we push aside the very thought of living a life pleasing to God, rather than for it to be all about ourselves? Those of us who haven't yet woke up with these thoughts: Wake Up !!!! Those of us who are awake and who are planning and preparing their path to Heaven in this life, help others along the way, show them, share with them your love for God and for them. Be bold in your faith, stand strong in Jesus' name, stop selfishly finding your way to God, and be charitable, take along your sisters and brothers as your forge towards Heaven. Remember in judgement we stand alone before God. Prepare yourself now.
This blog was intended to be straight to the core with it's message. Prepare yourself, that's what this is all about, someone needs to be yelling and screaming this on the roof-tops to everyone, every day. I fear so many souls will be lost, so many will so easily be misled by the spoils of a world, a world that don't know God and a world that don't even want to know God. Prepare yourselves, your families, your friends, your neighbors. Tell everyone about the love Jesus has for us, the price He has paid to save us. From your heart devote your life to serving God alone. It won't be easy, I will attest to that; and you will be the target of the evil one, I know that first hand. Satan will try to destroy, discourage and stop you. Stand strong, be bold, anything worth fighting for, is worth dying for. Never leave your post, once you have committed your life to our Lord, stand strong. In doing so know that He will never leave you or forsake you through all of your trials. Stand strong my sisters and brothers like you have never stood strong before. And remember to always pray, everyday, on your knees.. The Rosary is a wonderful way to begin.
