Preach As You Go

My Friends,

Today’s Gospel: Matthew 10:1-7 (Mission of The Twelve)
“And he called to him his twelve disciples and gave them authority over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal every disease and every infirmity. The names of the twelve apostles are these: first, Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother; James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother; Philip and Bartholomew; Thomas and Matthew the tax collector; James the son of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus; Simon the Cananaean, and Judas Iscariot, who betrayed him. These twelve Jesus sent out, charging them, "Go nowhere among the Gentiles, and enter no town of the Samaritans, but go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. And preach as you go, saying, `The kingdom of heaven is at hand.”

Reflection:
Do you believe Jesus has chosen you, like He has chosen the twelve? Our Lord chooses very ordinary people like you and me to do the extraordinary to share and bring others to Himself. No special education, no special requirements, many times Jesus reaches out to the broken, the weary and even the oppressed to build His Kingdom. Once the Love and Mercy of Jesus are in our hearts, our lives are never the same, they are transformed. That transformation allows our Lord to work through us, as we share our faith, our story and our love for our Lord and His Mother with others. Be a Witness to your faith.

“You know well enough that Our Lord does not look so much at the greatness of our actions, nor even at their difficulty, but at the love with which we do them.” -St. Therese of Lisieux

“No earthly pleasures, no kingdoms of this world can benefit me in any way. I prefer death in Christ Jesus to power over the farthest limits of the earth. He who died in place of us is the one object of my quest. He who rose for our sakes is my one desire.” -St. Ignatius of Antioch

“He who trusts himself is lost.  He who trusts in God can do all things.” – St. Alphonsus Liguori

“You cannot please both God and the world at the same time.  They are utterly opposed to each other in their thoughts, their desires, and their actions.” -St. John Vianney

How to Share Your Story

Pondering these thoughts today: We too are to Preach As You Go. Yes, we are very ordinary people with an extraordinary task. Our Lord has given us the scripture, the Holy Spirit, the Holy Mass, the Sacrament of Reconciliation, our community and so much more. We literally have all we need to share Jesus with others, including our own stories, our journey of faith. Today think about this, if haven’t ever before; share your story with others. Write it down, speak it, share it; and when you do pray for the Spirit to help lead you. Here is a link to my story, yeah, it’s long, but it covers my whole journey. Maybe it needs to updated? Maybe not? Maybe it just needs a part 2 now. No matter, that is as it happened in my life. I’ve been a writer since 1982, just before it all began in 1983. So, I captured it all. Write Your Story and share it for the rest of your life.
