“Parable of The Sower”

My Friends,
Today’s Gospel: Luke 8:4-15 (Parable
of The Sower)
"And
when a great crowd came together and people from town after town came to him,
he said in a parable: "A sower went out to sow his seed; and as he sowed, some fell along the path, and was
trodden under foot, and the birds of the air devoured it. And some fell on the rock; and as it grew
up, it withered away, because it had no moisture. And some fell among thorns; and the thorns grew with it and choked it. And
some fell into good soil and grew,
and yielded a hundredfold." As he said this, he called out, "He who
has ears to hear, let him hear." And when his disciples asked him what
this parable meant, he said, "To you it has been given to know the secrets
of the kingdom of God; but for others they are in parables, so that seeing they
may not see, and hearing they may not understand. Now the parable is this: The
seed is the word of God. The ones along the path are those who have heard; then
the devil comes and takes away the word from their hearts, that they may not
believe and be saved. And the ones on the rock are those who, when they hear
the word, receive it with joy; but these have no root, they believe for a while
and in time of temptation fall away. And as for what fell among the thorns,
they are those who hear, but as they go on their way they are choked by the
cares and riches and pleasures of life, and their fruit does not mature.”Reflection:
How deep is your love? I read today’s gospel and I got that 1977 Bee Gees song stuck in my head; I did not do that on purpose, it just happened. By the way, I know why you read my blog; you come here for the unexpected and crazy un-orthodox way I sort of do things here. LOL! Well now that I said that. How deep is your love for Jesus? The path! The rocks! & The thorns! They have all been proven failures when it comes to depths of sincere love. Only the good soil will be fruitful and yield a hundredfold. But how many of you are in the good soil? Look how Jesus explains the parable. Jesus is direct and fully open with His explanation, no one can say they did not understand.
Jesus says “The seed is the Word of God.” I love our Lord’s explanation in today’s gospel. He goes through each one of these examples, making sure you fully understand which category you may fit into, if any. That way you can make the necessary adjustments in your life, to get yourself into the good soil in the end. But you must first have clarity, so you understand what Jesus is saying. Look at this amazing breakdown of Jesus’ way of explaining this incredible parable.
“The ones along the path are those who have heard; then the devil comes and takes away the word from their hearts, that they may not believe and be saved.”
“And the ones on the rock are those who, when they hear the word, receive it with joy; but these have no root, they believe for a while and in time of temptation fall away.”
“And as for what fell among the thorns, they are those who hear, but as they go on their way they are choked by the cares and riches and pleasures of life, and their fruit does not mature.”
I love reading the words Jesus spoke. We are so blessed to have the Holy Bible (scripture) in our lives, the true Living Word of God. It takes my breathe away sometimes, how truly fortunate and blessed we really are. That is why we should be reading and carrying our bible everywhere, every single day. Write in your bible, make notes and underline and write dates and comments to scripture that has affected your spiritual journey. God’s Word is sacred YES. But the book is a book for our journey. Fr. Mullally advised of that decades ago. I have highlighted and dated and noted spots throughout my many bibles. Embrace God’s Word and make it an intricate part of your daily life. Till tomorrow my friends, sing with me. LOL. Yes, I pulled up the Bee Gees song. I have the YouTube link at the end of today’s blog for you. See you tomorrow.
LOVE YOU GUYS !!!!
