Hello Everyone,

The faith Mary and Joseph are about to be tested. The challenges ahead will not only test Joseph's trust in an angel that God had sent him, but Mary had the greatest risk bearing a child and she wasn't even officially married to Joseph yet. Back then there was zero toleration for pregnancy outside of marriage. Today we read Matthew 1:18-24 (The Birth of Jesus). Mary and Joseph without a doubt had some serious faith in what was about to happen. These miraculous events worked against all the laws of nature.

I cannot imagine the fear to some degree that they must have both had, of cause surrounded by deep faith and trust. Here Mary was told by an angel that she'd been given a son to her by the Holy Spirit, Joseph also was told by an angel to take Mary as his wife. Were these events beyond anything anyone could possibly comprehend, especially during that time in history. The only way anyone could possibly believe that this could be true and happen just as it was told to them; was they truly had to be filled with a very devout love and trust in God. And that love and trust gave them the strength, not to question these events, but instead embrace them to their fulfillment.

Joseph was a just man who's belief and fear of God was unshakable. Our dear Blessed Mother's faith and fear of God had to also be beyond anything we can remotely relate to. She did curiously ask how it could be possible, but once the question was answered she moved forward in faith and trust in God to fulfill His will for her. She very willingly embraced the unknown road ahead, she took the chance at being rejected not only by Joseph, but by her family and all those that they know.

Can we be as God fearing and trusting in the Lord when our life gets turned upside down and nothing is making any sense? As Christmas draws near let us approach the child Jesus with our hearts filled with His joy. Let's take this time to deepen our faith and hope in Him.

Stay strong in your faith and trust in God, His Word and His Will.
